It's very poetic how Bonney going Nika, is entirely Saturn's fault. He gave her the devil fruit through his experiments. He did everything he could to ruin the life of Kuma and her, and to take away the belief of Nika in them. But he failed, and the belief only got stronger, and now he's paying the price.
An Italian one piece youtuber (the best one nationally, and among the only international ones knowing what he's talking about) routinely calls them "the 5 celestial bodies... Of dumbness", since we've seen for hundreds of chapters that they brought everything to themselves, from this Bonnie situation to not caring/noticing about Nika fruit going around. It makes sense.

And Ginny. You absolutely cannot forget about Ginny. If anything, she’s the one who suffered the most out of all of them. I swear to God Ginny and Kuma’s entire story has to have been the saddest thing I’ve ever read in my life. Berserk levels of tragedy. I hope Kuma and Ginny get married in the afterlife and have a child of their own (with Kuma’s and Ginny’s blood present within the child).

An asspull? Bonney copied Luffy's base rubber powers already. Her Distorted Future ability is basically what Vegapunk was talking about with his theory on Devil Fruits.
It's also ironic that Bonney is the first Celestial Dragon that has a Nika Form

As a run of the mill baker that lives in a coastal town, I do, sometimes, ponder about the goverment being a bunch of yokai.
At least the Gorosei have the decency to be literal demons ruling over citizens they hate with open disdain. We here in the real world are ruled by figurative demons who secretly disdain us.

So this chapter solidifies the idea to me that the robot awoken 200 years ago to someone with the Age-Age Fruit. Since we know the Nika fruit hasn't awaken since the Void Century, I wonder if the Age-Age Fruit could have been fed to a slave on Mary Geoise who was then able to imagining a future where they were "the most free", turning them into a possible version of Joy Boy and activating the robot who then began to climb the Red Line.
Actually an interesting take which both lays the place for age-age fruit place in the world, Celestial Dragons' tendency to eat shit from their own actions, and why Saturn even had it in the first place.

Wait this chapter is controversal? She has literally used this power like 3 times before this , anyone who thought about it for a bit knew this is a possibillity , Like she turned in to a buccaneer earlier. Also her power is based off of beleif , we saw her losing her power against saturn because she was losing that belief.
i can see why some people would be upset because this could open up issues like the endless possibilities of what bonnie could do. Like imagine she believes there is a reality where she could have multiple multiple devil fruits or she could possibly swim in sea water

My best explanation of Bonney power is that kids think they can be anything when young, right? Kids believe they can be astronauts; as they age, they realize they can't be one. That is the base of her distorted future ability. This is why she got a giant form, she believes she can be like her dad's kuma. She heard Nika's story from her dad and thought she could be Nika. She initially lost that belief when Saturn told her Nika wasn't real. Then Luffy shows up reviving that belief.
Yeah, I assumed her Bulky/muscle form was essentially "Buccaneer Bonney" and now she knows Nika is real, she can make "Nika Bonney" a reality
It's a broken power but becomes less broken as the user ages and becomes more jaded.

Got to hand it to Oda, when Bonnie's power was first revealed, I never thought that the age-age fruit could be used this way, I guess I lacked the "imagination."

I honestly don't know why people are freaking out over the Bonney Nika thing. It doesn't give her Luffy's Haki which is the most important thing, She's not taking over the story, and I honestly don't believe this is people's first time witnessing two people use the same power before.

Have to see if she can manipulate the surroundings like Luffy can in G5, so far all her distorted futures are just changing the shape/form of things.

Ace and Sabo, Bartolomeo and the person from Orochis past, S-hawk and Daz Bones, Blackbeard and Whitebeard, S-snake and Hancock, Caramel and Big Mom, Kuma and S-bear, Absalon and Shiryu, Kaido and Momonosuke. This has been going on in the story for a long while now but people complain when Bonnie does it.

If anyone is wondering why bonney can do his. It's easy to explain. She's FREE to make her own future much like Luffy is FREE when he becomes gear 5th. Oda picked the two big eaters and made them be able to do what he wants in story and that's anything at all.
It's actually beautiful in a sense
She has a child imagination, her god just told her she can do it, she can BECOME WHATEVER SHE WANTS, thus she nonchalantly listened to his advice and became another Nika. It perfectly follows One Piece theme of being free, in any way, not bound to expectations, not bound to rules when they don't make sense and in this case not bound to logic. The great energy powering everything was the power of laughter and joy, and Oda managed to make it make sense and not be a tire and annoying cliché. Props to Goda.
Luffy is Freedom and Liberation, and Bonney is the Child with many futures awaiting her.
but saturn said this fruit gets worse the older she becomes bcoz of possibilities and such. Now if she can become anything in world regardless of anything, that contradicts previous statement, no? If she imagined being nika, aka eating devil fruit like luffy, that's imagining 2 devil fruits in her, which everyone knows can kill you. This isn't even possible tbh. Even in the hands of a child, it took happenstance for her to run into her literal god, that helped changed her world view, empowering her imagination to new heights. It's honestly similar to the Jacket Fruit in the sense it'll become useless if the wrong person eats it.

I was thinking it was somewhat similar to how the snails communicate with each other. If they are using the 'voice of all things', shouldn't Luffy hear atleast some parts of their communication.
@@user-ek5zs9di6f Not necessarily no. Momonosuke and Luffy were the only ones to hear Zunesha's voice. An "advanced version" of it could allow one to speak only to those who you choose. We've also seen a similar ability to both their telepathy and the voice: Shirahoshi's "Poseidon" ability. That one specifically targets Sea Kings. So a telepathic ability that allows one to target only specific people, or even groups of people, doesn't just feel like a possibility but more like an eventuality. Heck, if you wanna split hairs there's already an entire species that can use the ability and have been since the start of the series: The Den Den Mushi. Which can only telepathically communicate with each other. So many possibilities and lines of thought off of this one little ability and the mystery of this group.

At 24:30, you talk about the baby cartoons on famous cartoons. The trend wasn't started by Rugrats. The trend of reimagining cartoon characters as babies started with Muppet Babies. Muppets Babies first aired in 1984, 10 years before Rugrats!
Kuma's bet on the future, it paid off completely. Absolutely, no question. If there is any redeeming quality to his fate of becoming what he became, it is that it led to this moment.
The two peole he scouted became the new JoyBoy. Now Bonney still has to get the hang of it but Luffy is there to teach her to be free.

Now, i'm wondering what oda has in store for us in relation to Urouge. Oda seems to be reserving him for last. Not to mention, there's really really huge mystery still surrounding the shandians, skypeians and birkans...
I think the thing to remember about Bonney's fruit is that it needs belief, which has been a steong theme through this arc. Its only this strong because she is a child. When you grow older, you begin to doubt belief, which is probably why the fruit was so under powered. Her childhood innocence, imagination, and belief make it busted.
And with everything Kuma went through, seeing his daughter fulfill his dream is well justified.
Starting to think bonneys fruit is not a specific Devil fruit. Saturn said she was injected with the essence of a Devil fruit and the way her powers work are very close to how vegapunk described devil fruits in general with people dreaming up different “evolutions” for themselves. Maybe what Saturn gave her was more like the building block of a Devil fruit allowing her to dream up different futures for herself. The reason she can change peoples ages is that is what she believes her fruit does regularly
Yesnt her future works normal with ages that passed but with the future because it’s uncertain it works with her doing futures she believe can exist. If you were a logistic it would be more simplistic
Basically what I thought. Bonney's fruit, as was said, was injected as "the essense" into her, so god knows what that entails (especially considering Saturn's dubious ethics). Maybe the original fruit was LIMITED to age, but through Saturn's way it might've lost some sort of limit. Maybe the fruit had its fundamental function altered in the essense that was injected into Bonney. Maybe, LITERALLY, it would become weaker the older she gets because Saturn LITERALLY made it so. We won't know until either story ends burying questions with it, or are answered in some way.
Maybe the future alteration is awakening that lasts only as long as Bonney is a child, no matter the imagination or belief aspect. So, as long as she does it NOW, she is effectively more broken than Luffy
Plot twist. Bonny is a sentient devil fruit.

This chapter has caused some controversy online. My thoughts is that Bonney has awakened her devil fruit and this gives her the ability to basically become anything as long as she wholeheartedly believes that will happen in the future or something along the lines of that.

Hey Tekking, I just wanted to clarify a misconception you had with Bonney’s DF. Her DF does not give her the ability to access an alternate timeline where she ate the Nika DF; if she was doing that, the ability would be named “distorted timeline/past”, because she would be altering what occurred in past.
“Distorted future” is her tapping into a potential future she thinks is possible. What she thinks is possible is based on her knowledge of reality. She can imagine a future where she is a body builder with huge muscles so she can tap into that future.
On the other hand, she knows how devil fruits work, and knows that a person can only have one devil fruit. As a result, she would not be able to access a future where she has another devil fruit, because from her POV, it’s impossible.
As for her Nika form, it’s not that she is tapping into a future where she has the Nika DF; Bonney isn’t even aware that such a thing even exists. She’s accessing a future where she becomes Nika himself, because as Luffy told her this chapter, this form is something he achieves when he feels the most free. From Bonney’s POV, the only thing needed to become Nika is to feel free, which is why she can become Nika.
Because of her misunderstanding of how Luffy can become Nika, she can become Nika herself. But if someone ever explains to her why the reality of Luffy’s DF and Nika, she would likely loose the ability to access a Nika future.
The strength of her ability comes from being a kid who doesn’t know how the world works (in its entirety) and having her whole life ahead of her. As she grows older and learns more about the world, her DF will weaken.

I don't think it is that easy, she is only 12 and thus more flexible mentally than people like those on Mocktown, besides she has been taught at a young age about Nika by her father, so she knew more about Nika's ability than many people in this world, then she was given prove that Nika exist by Luffy which gave her faith that what she learned all those years ago was possible (Luffy literally liberated her mind and enforce her faith), that is the only reason that she is now able to "copy" his Nika form this chapter. She is still just mimicking his form though, who knows how effective it is compare to the original, no reason to power scale her yet
I don’t know enough about the giant robot to talk bad about it , but I wasn’t expecting an actual fight from it , it’s made clear that thing is indestructible but it’s been inactive for centuries as well so it can’t exactly put up a fight . I’m genuinely curious about what idea is setting up with rust bucket .
If Vegapunk has developed the green blood to duplicate devil fruits, I wonder if something similar was used on Punk Records (His Brain) to insure that it persists and maintains the ability even if the original power leaves? Wouldn’t be impossible to say he cloned his own fruits powers early on and perhaps applied that experiment to Punk Records. Who knows really but it makes enough sense to me.

This chapter had me laughing and cheering and then it had me in tears with a single line from Kuma
I find it hilariously karmic that for all of Saturn’s meddling in Kuma’s life out of spite and to crush the very concept of Nika, that’s it’s because of his meddling that Kuma met Vegapunk, Bonney got the Sapphire scale and her DF, which eventually led to the creation of a 2nd Nika. Really shows how utterly pointless the Gorosei’s spite and efforts are ultimately. For all their power and seeming immortality, they can’t kill the idea of freedom.
I imagine when the penny drops and the other Elder’s process everything, Saturn’s going to have a very interesting conversation with them regarding how this happened.
The way I think of it is that she is not accessing a future where she is that person or has that ability but because of her immaturity she has convinced herself that she is that person or has that ability. Not like accessing a parallel timeline where she is the holder of the fruit but she literally believes that if she grew up and was free, this is how she would look like. It supports Jupiter’s statement in saying that the more she knows of the world, the more limited her ability will be as she’ll understand how devil fruits work soo she’ll understand being free doesn’t mean being Nika cause that’s a devil fruit ability. This is why I think everyone she ages looks the same. Old people are just wrinkled people who can barely move and kids are just small people. She is literally limited by imagination

I think what’s crazy about Bonney’s powers is that her ability to tap into alternate timelines isn’t her awakening, it’s part of her base powers as far as we know. Makes sense that amongst the Supernovas, she’s the only other one besides Luffy and Zoro that during the time skip, didn’t side with the WG (Law as a Warlord) or one of the Yonko.

Blackbeard can negate her abilities. Bonny has zero chance against Blackbeard just like Law. Both rely on they devil fruit abilities. Whereas Luffy also has every version of advanced haki.

My one qualm with Post Time skip is that the power trio have not helped help the others learn armament haki. Now Brooke and Frankie have certain ways around it Frankie defensively being already armored. But I think we'd want especially our melee people to have the ability to attack Logias

Concerning Bonney's DF power; I feel like you are theoretically correct, she could manifest any power if her heart and desire was sufficient. Now let's take a step back and remind ourselves: The Nika mythos, the Sun God, is like the central figure and most important topic in her entire life, passed down through her father, with all the tragedy attached to that. If you ask me, it would make sense that it takes exactly that amount of dedication, willpower and determination for a Toshi Toshi - no mi user to manifest something like the power of another DF, Luffy's in this case. I wanna say: If she didn't have that deep of a connection to the Nika mythos, she couldn't do what she is doing in this chapter.
Another very different theory: Joy Boy, as put forward by Artur and others, is very reminiscent of a comic book superhero, even being refered to as one by Kuma in his backstory, I believe.
No what if - Bonney's DF, or rather the person she became after consuming it, was Joy Boy's sidekick (not hard to believe that somewhat had the desire to become Joy Boy's protege. Similar to his powers, she is also defined by being most free, just less rubbery, her powers revolving around change of time and the potential of tomorrow. Her ultimate move is becoming just like Nika herself. However, in true comic book fashion: A sidekick is nothing without his main hero, so Bonney's DF without an awakened Nika is not that useful, she is fueled by his freedom (hence why it was called useless by Saturn).
Heck, if you want, the true mythical Joy Boy was Joy (???/Bonney) + Boy (Nika/Luffy) all along

The thing with Bonney's devil fruit is that Saturn himself states that the only limit to her power is her own belief in that future (iirc, it was because she was losing faith in having the power to beat Saturn and save Kuma, and he mentioned it to break her will), like given that she's a freaking child and one of the first things she did with distorted future on her journey was to use a Gomu Gomu Pistol, all I'm saying is that I'm surprised that peeps are surprised. Though sadly, I'm not surprised about those same people "REEEEEEEEE"ing even though the clues were all lined up.
Plus I mean, let's consider that she's had her powers for a while now, I think she's had them longer than Luffy had his, and given that we've seen that someone can train to awaken their devil fruit within 2 years, given her childish mind and the constant "what if" that such a mind would come up with on top of her CONSTANT USE of the fruit (prolly the reason why she's so hungry all the time), and given what we've been learning about how desire and the fruit's affinity with the user are some of the keys of awakening a devil fruit, and that she already displays a key facet of an awakened paramacia by affecting both herself and the world around her. Can those same angry readers really ignore that Bonney has worked every bit as hard as other awakened fruit users? Distorted Future is absolutely broken and that girl has worked for it. She may have worked for it in a different way than Luffy, but she's put in the hours, fed it all the desires it needs, and aligned herself with it damn near perfectly.
That she finally gets to dance and fight alongside the legacy of her father's actions and faith as a legacy of her father's love herself, is quite frankly, well earned.
1. Bonnie hasn't had her powers longer that Luffy she 12 and luffy is 19, he got his when around 6 to 8. She did unlock her powers until she was similar in age.
2. I think her power does have limits (atleast I hope so) I believe her power runs on belief so her having strong connection to Nika because of Kuma influence I think is what makes this possible. Im hoping you can only copy physical attributes not actual powers.
3. For the people complaining the clues were all there and it was properly built up. Dont be angry to emulate basic Nika be more passed off that she has future sight. To me that completely undermines the power and what it took for Luffy to get it.
@@Leaus- On the first point, cheers for the correction, I forgot that it took time for her powers to manifest. There should be limitations, it's one of the things that Oda has been very consistent with, every single devil fruit power has some limitation in one form or another (even the power itself would be the limitation with some DFs). Even Luffy's own powers had dramatic drawbacks every time he pushed them to limit.
As for future sight, I'm not sure about that chief, considering that the mechanics behind distorted futures relies on Bonney needing to be able to clearly picture / imagine that specific future and her power does the rest. The more she's made aware that that future is impossible (like with what happened against Saturn), the weaker the power becomes.
However, with Luffy there actively encouraging Bonney to join him and the Drums of Liberation playing...I like to think that she's never pictured a distorted future more clearly.

I think Bonnie having it undermines the ability because it took Luffy fight absurdly power enemy to obtain and hone it. So if Bonnie has future sight,who was her "Katakuri" that why it bothers me a bit.

I'd say the "Im the free-est" part is related to Vegapunk's explanation of how devil fruits are/are born. They are dreams of better self, better future even.
Nika was the wishfulness of slaves to be free of their chains, so one day devil fruit Nika appeared and with it, Joyboy came around. It is that strong BECAUSE aspect of freedom is both universal and strongest, comparable to will.
