I believe the name for that style of hammer is cross peen. Very similar to a cobbler's hammer and a great option for leatherwork. Be sure to polish the face though so as not to mar the surface of the leather.

Yea I find myself checking the face of them hammer alot specially when working chromexl. That wax likes to build up on it.
