I was actually initially planning on ditching the spacer as well, but after taking a look at it, I realized that the spacer was nearly exactly the same height as the rest of the intake manifold. It looks cleaner than I expected now that it’s installed. But that’s the cool thing about cars. Everyone’s got different tastes and it’s fun to see how people modify them differently! Thanks for watching!
cool vid! I ended up buying a non webbed / no egr intake from a 75 280z. I'm gonna try to shave it and powdercoat it. also yeah, all the fuel injection hoses on a zx are not fun. lol.
That’s really the way to go man. I seriously considered it but I’ve decided to reserve the tight budget I have for this car on strictly “go-fast” parts lol
@@TheLeftPedal I live in Cleveland Georgia, and your videos looks like you are from around Georgia too, especially since you said you are from the Atlanta area. I got my intake for 30 dollars from a guy who sells zx and z parts in Commerce, super cool guy. I just got lucky xD.
Ahhy, the mess under the hood. Reminds me of my K Jet Volvo 240.. one of the reason im switching to MS EFI is dealing with vacuum lines and tons of wires everywhere. Yup. The EFI conversion is going to make it simpler. You should def spare money and do a MS swap (both megasquirt and microsquirt are good) Keep the vid' rolling!
I do plan on on doing a full engine tear down once I get my hands on a turbo engine! However, heads up, that may be a while. I don’t know if you’re a member of the “280zx drivers.” Group on Facebook, but I’d highly recommend joining it. It’s full of very knowledgeable and helpful people. Thanks for watching and good luck with your ZX!
Hey do you happen to know, if this is street legal for all states for 1981-280zx non turbo? We are replacing our exhaust manifold and my mechanic damaged our previous tube assembly EGR. Do you know anyone that carries the tube assembly EGR for the EGR valve?
I have an 82ZX . . . so your purpose for deleting the EGR valve is to clean up what you call the "mess" look under your hood!? LOL, well, I need mine cause I live in SoCal and I want my Z to pass emission! LOL
Thank you so much for providing so much information. Especially about the angle grinder.
I used a gasket and the plate when I did it with no spacer. Good tutorial video. Love to see you work on the Z. Wish I still had mine.

Glad to see you guys back having fun just messing with your car. What it's all about 🤘
No idea if you still check comments on these old videos, but are there any performance ramifications to these deletions or are they all environmental?
just bought an 81 280zx that i cant get to drive properly. a lot of vacuum hoses missing.
Im here for datsun content!!

I do definitely want to go megasquirt and pull as many hoses out of the engine bay as possible lol. Thanks for staying tuned!
@@TheLeftPedal You'll have the mess in the fuse box instead ^^
jk jk, good luck with that. Some nice tuto would be great
Mannn I live in CA I can't do it but enjoyable video!
I'm following your vids I have an 81 280zx with a busted head gasket. Are you planning any vids of removing/reworking it?

Haha I've got an 81 zx too, with the same issue. Bought it, pulled the drain plug and instead of oil it was milkshake 😂
