  • In this video I am going through an inspection checklist as if I were going to purchase this machine. I cover common problems and what to do after buying the machine and doing repairs.

Thank You, at 62 I've been a millwright/maintenance mechanic for 25+ years but I've just been working on the haas's and Mori's for a couple of years. The more I do the younger I wished I was! The vast majority of the machines that I work around have been "used hard and put away dirty" and my first reaction is always wanting to give them a bath but there is no time for anything but "pm"(panic maintenance). I appreciate your efforts a bunch!

Thank you, 25-year-old, I have been engaged in machining center maintenance for 7 years in Yuyao, China. Most of me are also cleaning CNC. I really want to have your working atmosphere.

This a great video! I bought a 98 HS1 and it was in worse shape than this, and have slowly been restoring it to working condition. Funny thing was when we had to haas tech rebuilding the office mill at my work, I was telling him about my HS1, he said he had worked on it a few times. He said it was the most abused machine he had seen haha. I found all sort of spliced wires( twisted copper and electrical tape), the machine had also been outside for several years, so many air hoses were cracked and the y axis ball screw was toast. I was told it was running when they took it out of the shop, and they guy who was selling it, tricked me into paying before seeing it, threatening me that other people had made offers, and he needed the money. for a machine of this size it was a great price, and I actually dont regret it, since I learned so much, but I wont gain anything from making the same mistake again haha. The HS1 has a full service manual which is great, later machines do not. for example the 2005 office mill at my work had basically nothing, so when the haas tech came to rebuild the machine(new spindle, linear guides and ball screws) he had to figure it out, and when he called haas hq they told him they didnt have procedures to replace those components, and the way they did it in the factory was with the sheet metal all off. Also If you need to have haas come out, good luck, took two years to get our office mill serviced at work, and I was calling them weekly to get someone out.

Pretty good video! I was always told that you should move a CNC machine on an air-ride truck. If you don’t some of the sensitive electronics can be damaged. I don’t think you mentioned that.

CNC Repair Man, cool videos. Recently started hearing a squeak, on a UMC1000, when the Spindle moves in X (Rapid Motion). Any idea what may be causing that? Thanks!

great video. however, when changing cutscene on the video, the mic level is either loud or just right. if necessary do a voiceover. you can hear a huge different on computer speakers.
