Explain the problems with PC based machines,
Great option to have, thanks. Charles
Awesome! Definitely an upgrade I'd love to have in the future.
That old Matsuura will outperform many newer machines. Check its hardware and you will find ultra high quality, heavy duty components everywhere

I currently have an old vmc-100 I can find anything about online or anywhere for that matter it’s got a tag saying it was built in 1972 but I don’t know anything about it other then what the previous owner told me (it worked before I discontinued it) granted he was selling everything in his shop but that’s one of the ones he quit using before he closed his shop he started to use his manual horizontal mill rather than the vertical vmc-100 claimed it was easier to run simple parts on the manual Cincinnati horizontal mill. I have the original electric schematics and a lot of the original liter of the machine but can’t figure out how to simply tighten the belt after i replaced it before I even tried to run it and can’t get anything to move unless I press a button in the electric panels this thing has two rather large circuit panels and takes up twice the amount of space as a newer one but I’d just rather see it run then throw the money away I have invested already i already found and purchased a lot of tool holders fit it and have over 100 holders just for this machine I’d have to replace them if I got a different machine
It’s a monarch vmc-100 mill
ill take them
You didn't shut the door quick enough, i see Smokey stuff
Don't lick anything? I'll have you know I have a calibrated tongue that can accurately measure .0001 of a volt and its even NIST traceable.
Is that out of an old Bullard?
I live in northern Kentucky, where are you located?
Hilarious! Damn you eliminate everything lol
how do i replace metering units?
thanks for the video
That’s really super
Excellent and informative. Thank you!
This fooking guy. Basically stating all of the CNC brands stating don’t buy… then saying you have to buy a compressor etc which you have to buy anyway.. content for content this bell end though
😊 I am Indian in Chennai great video I likes this video
I have a 2012 VF2SS at home that the tool release piston is slow to return and also makes the farting noise sometimes. On a rapid tool change the spindle fires up and makes a horrible sound as the piston is still contacting the draw bar for a split second. I now know exactly what I have to do to fix this. Thank you so much for these videos mate, all the way from Australia :)
Thanks for the comment. SS machines are different than GB machines. Watch this video. You may have a bad spindle draw bar ring. Spindle Drawbar Ring Replacement-Super Speed Spindle czcams.com/video/hjMadi3uE9w/video.html
Great advice! , the temptation of restoring an old cnc can really open a can of worms 😂. I decided to take on a 1990 Moog Mhp A15, 3 tons of boxed way 3 axis mill, dc servo's, analogue amplifiers and unsupported Hydrapath 3 control. It has taken a huge amount of time to keep it running, making test rigs to repair the amplifiers, re capping boards etc, had to create a custom post processor for it, very slow blocks per second processing rate when drip feeding. Just blown another servo amplifier 😢. Now the reality is either scrap it or retrofit with centroid and new servo's, lots of cost and time plus headache of writing custom plc program for gear change and tool changer. Overall a complete waste of time but educational. Just seems such a waste to scrap nice castings, ball screws and precision surfaces

Hi, i want to ask you a cuestion what do you think about Haas mini mill vs Zmat F855, i mean if you can buy one of they, what machine do you buy and why, I do not know alot of cnc, thanks
If it wasn't for mazaks breaking all day I wouldn't have a job 😅
I will mess around with an old machine again its Not worth it
Really good video!
Wish it was in kilos not lbs
fuck i really enjoyed this video!! nice fellows, nice job, nice place!!
Great video!
Fun video
thans for the video
Hell yeah
Excellent video. Great example of why this career is the best.
I am currently a cnc operator/ set-up trainee. Is it possible for me to get a job as a service tech with my limited experience? Ive been machining for 2.5 years at this point and i think i want to get into the repair side of things, but im not sure how to get on track. Any answers will help!
Study electronics. That will give you a good base. Work for a dealer too.
Looking at an old Storebro CNC Combi Mill with Heidenhain TNC 155 controller. If I buy it, I would want to get rid of the controller and fit a modern pc based controller. Not sure what these are worth in very good condition ?
Great to see you networking and building the channel! Your content is highly valuable. Piece of advice, though, avoid squeeky chairs in you videos. Haha
Totally! Every video I learn more.
Great video. Exactly the questions I have. Watching all your content. Building small retirement shop. Looking to add 2002 Haas mini mill. What are your thoughts? I have limited power which makes this machine appealing for me. Additionally the cost is low and will allow me to learn and start small. This will add capability to my existing lathe and Bridgeport.
That will be a good fit. The tool room machines are good for this
Hey dude, just wanted to say I'm about to get my first mill and you've made it seem way less intimidating. It's a lot to coordinate and there's just way too much on the line to mess up. Thanks so much for making great content! Keep it up!
Nothing puts you in a corner you need to fight your way out of like buying an old machine and having to repair it. It's certainly made this electronics tech a better tech!
I make a living out of pressing parts. Couldn't have done it without my old CNC with Fanuc 6 controls to make the press tools on. I'll be keeping them as long as possible, they're lucky to run more than a few weeks a year. With any luck I'll be able to see them reach PENSION age! Fingers crossed!
My son lost his mind when CNC repairman said, " The updated Processor may have a half MB to 1 MB of memory"!
Sorry!
@@cncrepairman He is 14 and he is attempting to build his own computer this summer. He just happen to walk by at that moment. These video are great; today I had two Doosan 5700 ATC 2774 tool pot spindle/ magazine side over time limit. In the end I used Starret M1 upward around Tool Pot area. Its very dry in there and chips get in there, but I learned alot.
personally i'd say Haas or nothing, but a good deal or a small good machine like gt-75 tall slim, etc. that'd fit in my garage, might go for it
Thank you! Your great guide saved my day. Our problem was a broken coupling, which we temporarily replaced with a tightly fitted rubber hose to reduce machine downtime.
What did the AI charge?
Unless AI has grown arms and legs, I don’t think it can get to square 1.
What about alarm 103 4 th axis too large.
It’s the same troubleshooting for the 4th. You could have a problem with the cable the motor or the home switch or the belt or pulley.
what about a 401 SERVO alarm on a doosan puma 12 ? shop owner had a fanuc guy come out and it still doesnt work .
Hey @cncrepairman is there a way to lower the umbrella height so you could operate a hass in a garage with 102in feeling height? Appreciate your input
Not really the umbrella. You can get some room by cutting the head cover.
Darn I'm getting "FP ERR= -20"
Thanks much for making this. I truly appreciate it😊
