The studio version is perfect bliss 😌
Gerry is pronounced like Jerry. Baker Street was his biggest hit, followed by "Right Down The Line" ... please give that a listen, it's one of the loveliest love songs ever written. Sadly, Gerry passed in 2011 of liver disease.
Right Down The Line is very good!
Stuck in the Middle with You from his Stealer's Wheel band was a pretty big hit!
“Right Down the Line” is on my ‘Shut Up & Listen’ playlist for sure. I love it 😊
Love this song. Especially the sax solo. In 1972 Gerry Rafferty was in the Scottish folk rock band Stealers Wheel & had a big hit with "Stuck In The Middle With You". Later on, he went out on his own & then had the big hits "Baker's Street", "Right Down The Line" & "Night Owl".
Yes being young at the time I remember "Stuck In The Middle With You", was in the Army so missed a lot of songs.
It's such a joy for me to watch your genuine and heart-felt reactions to the old tunes I grew up with. For me it's a walk back in time, but for you it's all brand new, and your appreciation shows in your reactions. 🥰Happy New Year.
Try "Right Down the Line". Another of his hits and then there is "Stuck in the Middle with You" when he was still with the band Stealers Wheel.
Yes to both of these!
You must listen to the studio version, played on the radio that summer of 1978. It was and still is intoxicating, and brings me back to the best summer of my life. ❤
Please listen to the studio first release version. It is slightly better but both are great as you can hear. One of the greats out of the past.
SOUL blues, man. Might be the greatest soul blues ever recorded.
He's such a excellent musician, always loved his music
There is so much back story to this song. The theme of the lyrics is based on fighting substance abuse. The sax solo is actually where a chorus would go, it's a cool melody that could be it's own song. You found an incredibly well done live performance for this.
With of rarely he played live, this was an amazing performance and you totally chose right. It isn’t as “clean” as the studio version, but the way they played around with the song he is a great bit of fun improvisation.
Love all of your reactions , its nice to see a younger person enjoying this older music.
One of the most iconic pop songs ever written and recorded....
A simply stunning record. That sax player really kills it on this as well. I have always just loved this one.
Pronounced Jerry Rafferty. Thanks for the great reaction!
Right Down the Line is great. Days Gone Down is great. He was very underrated as an artist.
One of the most beautiful songs ever; Yacht Rock perfection ❤
like "JERRY" Rafferty, adogg......and you're so right....dude be mellow and the band be tight....yeah, this was his BIG hit.......
You need to listen to right down the line by the great Gerry!
'Right Down the Line' and 'Get it Right Next Time' are great songs by Gerry (Pronounced "Jerry") Rafferty
This is a song I like the studio version the most. This is not a bad version, but in the studio version, his voice is cristal-clear, the sax is way less growled and the guitar also sounds much better.
Check'it out.
Since you've gotten so many great suggestions for more songs by Gerry Rafferty, I'd like to suggest another band that you've already reacted too. "Doobie Brothers - Long Train Runnin' (From Rockin' Down The Highway: The Wildlife Concert)" this is some more beautiful harmonies and smooth R&B soul music🔥🎷🎶🎸💖🤗 Lovely reaction Adogg thanks for sharing, and RIP: Gerry Rafferty 💔🔥
A great song with some of the greatest sax riffs ever IMO. I do not know if it was his biggest but it was one of his biggest. You have a blessed day and a happy New Year.
How can he sing this with virtually no expression! Whenever I hear this song, I'm snapping my fingers and jamming out. 😃
It's pronounced like Jerry! Fabulous reaction Adogg!
Right Down The Line is my favorite by him. and it's pronounced jerry, I believe
Gerry Rafferty. A true master of his art. A musical genius who wrote & sang truly wonderful songs. Try Right Down The Line, Easy to Talk, Shipyard Town, Welcome to Hollywood, and the gospel like Whatevers Written In Your Heart. Enjoy.
This is a precious gem. Gerry (pron. Jerry) was shy and rarely performed live. I have been a fan since the earliest days with Billy Connolly as The Humblebums. He has many great songs including "You Put Something Better Inside Of Me" with his band, Stealer's Wheel. I recognize some of the members of that band in this video. I bet that if you picked any song of his at random you would be highly impressed if not delighted.
This is good, but PLEASE listen to the studio versions of these songs in the future!
ABSOLUTELY 🔥
Billy Connolly was in a 2 man band with added comedy routines with Gerry Rafferty of Baker Street fame. They were called The Humblebums and was where Billy Connolly got his love of the banjo.
LOVE that sax and this song, so smooth.
In this song, the Sax is the chorus line.
I love that song. It gives me a sad feeling, but it still sounds great and amazing.
One of my favorites!
It sure has been a long time since heard this - lots of memories :)
"Home and Dry" is my favorite song by Gerry Rafferty!
another one from him that is a must is right down the line
That's the only song I know by him. They played it on the radio all the time. Great song, though.
Love the whole album called city to city another great song of his is get it right next time and right down the line
These are like musicians musicians!!!
Adogg, my wife and I are in Oregon. She said your accent makes her homesick for the south. Thanks and Happy New Year!
He founded the group Steelers Wheel. Check out their song Stuck in the Middle with You
Def need to listen to the studio version and then do a deep dive in to Gerry Rafferty. You won’t be sorry.
I've always loved this song since it came out.
Try the produced version. It's smoother and the sax is even better.
He’s Scottish.
You MUST do American Pie by Don McLean. You must ! :)
Another egregious snub or overlook from the RocknRoll Hall of Fame , Gerry Rafferty was a genius . By the way that song in torture scene in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs , Gerry Rafferty .
A great song. Love it 🥰 always been a fav. Studio version is better sound quality
Dang. Took me back in time
That's my go-to
I bought this song back when it came on a 45 record. A side was Baker Street, the B side was Right Down the Line.
Loved that you loved this amazing song from my motherland Scotland. Please react to Right next time by Gerry Rafferty 🙏🏻💯💋
Well if you ever saw the movie Reservoir Dogs, you've heard him before, that's Rafferty singing "Stuck in the Middle with You"
Nice find on this version. Greats sounds and the story line I can relate.
Listen to a song called stuck in the middle with you by a group called Stealers Wheel!! It’s a Jerry Rafferty song!! You’ll like it
Love it ! This song has been in many movies and that horn !! Right down the line us a good one ! Thanks for the upload 😂
You should react to “Year Of The Cat” by Al Stewart. One of my all time favourites. Love your reactions. Thanks for sharing.
Happy New Year to you and your family, Adogg!
Great reaction!
That sax cuts right through your soul…
You need the original studio version
When he was a part of Stealer's Wheel, he sang a song called Star..... One of my favorites and I think you'd like it too 😉
It was actually Joe Egan that performed the main vocal on 'Star', Karen. Gerry was on backing vocals for this one.
@@AlanRafferty .. Thanks for that info, I first heard and fell in love with this song back in the mid 70's 💕❤️. Such wonderful harmonies and lyrics !!
Scotsman, they make the best music
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Happy new year 🎉
Really like to see your reaction to
Billy Verras & Beaters
Song is
🎵at this moment🎵
You gonna adore this song too
Keep the good work my friend ✌️
Listen to shipyard town and my love don't give up on me.
Thanks for the live version, Da Real... Gerry Rafferty (pronounced "jerry", btw) was also part of the band "Stealers Wheel" - who had the hit song "Stuck in the Middle with you..." -- but Baker Street has always been my favorite .. that sax solo is so evocative! Rafferty had a couple of other top hits.. others have mentioned them... look forward to more from you...
Jeez, he sounds better live than the studio. RIP Gerry.
Happy new year
Studio version is much cleaner. Peace ✌️
Right down the line....best next...
You need to listen to an album called waiting for Columbus by a group called little feet it’s a double live album and probably one of the best double live albums ever recorded there is not a bad song on it please give it a listen to!!!
The saxophone is played by Candy Dulfer on the album. And she's Extremely talented!! Look her up!!! She does Funk & Soul. Love her song "Lily Was Here"-best version is with Dave Stewart, 1989 HD. She's well known in Germany, where she is from. I've been HOPING to suggest her music to a Reactor!!! ☮️👍🏻
Edit -Corrected info in replies.
Why are you running around the Internet lying?
Rafe Ravenscroft is on the sax in the studio album!!
Maggie Newtown: I stand corrected, but this Question is how I found Candy and she's worth checking out!! SORRY I upset you. ☮️ Humans DO make mistakes....good conversation!⚘️
It's where The Internet took me, to Candy, when I typed in this question. Now BOTH videos pop up. Give her a listen🎷🎶🎵👍
This is a great tune but not such a good recording. My favorite song of his is “Get It Right Next Time.” I’ve always thought of it as hopeful and optimistic. Gerry Rafferty was a terrific songwriter and performer. Thanks Adogg, I hope you will dive in a little deeper on some of the songs others have suggested here. Happy New Year to you and your precious family!
czcams.com/video/SXW-sL5gzHQ/video.html
That's my fave tune of his also!
Too bad you didn’t choose the studio version.
Gerry is like Jerry. Sadly, Gerry was a sad person and he died very young.
🥳🕛🎶🍾🥂🎆✨
The Foo Fighters do a killer cover of this song.
You have the wrong video. That is not Gerry Rafferty.
UUHHGG! You got some Messed up! Half Assed live Version! JERRY RAFFERTY, ( Spelled with a G ),Hated doing Live Profomances!
Studio version is much better.
not the best version....
The original is the one to hit first
The demons got the best of him too
