- 4 Reasons Why Gareth Southgate is The Most HATED England Manager Ever
Gareth Southgate is not exactly the most-loved man in England right now, and this has been the case for some time now. Despite being only the third manager to lead England to a World Cup semi-final, the first manager to lead England to a Euro final, and the first manager to lead England to a major final since 1966, he still doesn’t get so much love from England fans. Why is that? We’ll find out in this video.
Come with us as we look at 4 reasons why Gareth Southgate is the most hated England manager ever.

We need a manager who plays to win, not one who plays to not lose... Especially given the amount of attacking talent we have available.
Easy routes to finals, semi finals etc leaving key players at home, playing players out of positions, defensive strategies with an attacking team. It isn’t good when you look at it that way. Sven probably would have won the World Cup with the knockout routes Southgate had.
Southgate threw rashford sancho & saka to the wolves by making them take penalties in such an important game , he allowed them to take the backlash for his shortcomings & mistakes.....he should've been sacked back then !
They should of been able to score a penalty and would of agreed
nonsense, they are attacking players. its on them the miss not him
It definitely didn’t help bringing them on in the last seconds- what harm would could it have done to give them 5-10 mins to run around and have a couple of touches? By making it their first and only contribution Southgate found a way to add even more pressure to one of the most already pressured situations.
Also basing his takers off of training pens and just sticking to it didn’t seem the smartest move - ‘they said they still wanted to take them’ doesn’t cut it - the manager needs to identify and separate confidence from bravado in his players - Saka looked visibly terrified
@@unclegoon347
I agree players need to be warmed up and run around on the pitch for a bit to have the confidence to take penalties ....Southgate made a inept decision it's on him
Yep, Goofgate wanted to suck up to BLM.
Making his players continuing taking the knee even after BLM had been proved to be a scam was scandalous.
And he is a massive bellend.
That knee taking was a joke.We became a laughing stock big time.
How is it a 'scam'???
@@topcat8804Because BLM turned out to be a bunch of Marxists who stole all the donation money.
@@topcat8804 It's a scam, for two reasons:
1) We're led to believe that the black race is an intrinsically oppressed race.
2) BLM is a political entity that raised over $90M in its first year, none of which was ever used for its intended uses (reviving ghettos an example) but purchased real-estate in predominantly wealthy white areas. Then they systematically syphoned off millions to relatives/board members.
I think that's why it's a scam
@@topcat8804His racism says so.
Making a 19 yr old kid take a penalty for a country like England in a final is messed up
Nobody makes anyone take a penalty…he can easily say “no thanks”
Even blaming players for missing penalties now🤦🏻♂️
@@GIBBO4182 When ur 19 and chosen to take a penalty for ur country u won't really say no thanks will u?
@@DanielAdeyiga-ui1mr of course you can, you don’t think he was asked if he was ok to it? There’s plenty of reasons to criticise Southgate, someone else missing a penalty isn’t one of them!
@@DanielAdeyiga-ui1mr i dont like southgate either but you're reaching with this one. anyone with a braincell would decline if they aren't confident
He didn't make him. They practiced in training and he picked the players who were best. Obviously it was a poor decision bc he didn't count on the pressure making it totally different to training but none of the players hold a grudge at Southgate for this. They wanted to do it.
I think england need a manager who has great man management and who is hungry for more ❤
Someone like zidane🙏🙏🙏
@@chaitralideshmukhshinde151 or klopp i think luis Enrique will also work
@@SaumilMehtaIdno- Klopp said himself that he probably won’t manage another team after he left Liverpool, and Luis Enrique is doing very well at PSG, especially since he took them to the UCL semifinals, a competition where they’ve been bad for the past 2-3 seasons. Tbh, any manager would be better than southgate🤣🤣
Southgate is pretty good at man management. It's not enough without other skills
@@AF-gd7fh the management not necessarily mean having good relationships with player but also mean bringing the best out of them . He has such a good quality of player that if they play on their potential they can easily beat any team but few choices of southgate restrict the player in unleashing their best. That's where the manager like zidane or don carlo . They don't have the carzy tatics but they bring best out the player and give them freedom ❤
Southgate has like 6 players who above 30 g/a and there only 1 goal in a match he deserves all the hate or more
The media seems to love him, always advocating that we be patient, "he need time", as for the rest of England, they feel obligated to like him, his a "nice guy", it would be unpatriotic to criticize the champion of the people
Patriotism isn't allowed anymore, in England.
Do keep up.
@@mrbenn1489 understood
I have never seen such ferocious criticism of a manager/coach as the panels after the England games.
Good video man keep up the hard work❤
Thanks, will do!
Is it a good idea putting your centre forward in midfield with little or no reliable goal scorer up in front of him?
Waiting for the "hit the post" pizza advert to make an appearance.
Love the content keep up the good work
Appreciate it
We the fans have had enough, we watch premier league football-we know tactics , we know the players, we have knowledge - the players do as well, obvs - they not believing in this doughnut anymore. After his semi and final, like poch at spurs - he should have walked after those games … it’s never going to happen again for them
Absolutely amazing consistency 👏
Great content , Southgate doesn't have the mentality !he scores one goal and ENOUGH,he isnt hungry for more and more goals! On the opening game ,germany the only better team than england (with the chances)Won by scoring 5 goals!while england only scored 1 goal .
Agree with everything except the last bit. Yes the fan bases do want their players picked over rivals but if they actually do perform well I think 99% of England fans would change their stance. It’s only when the players picked to play don’t perform and then get picked again and again that the fans have a problem because their teams players aren’t getting a chance to turn it around.
He was lucky with the draws in previous competitions
Amazing content ❤
Glad you think so!
5:24 A similar thing happened with Mario Götze. Before the World Cup 2014, Mario Götze got a lot of hate from Dortmund fans when he said that he is going to Bayern next season before the UCL game against Madrid. But after that World cup winning goal, he no longer got hated by Dortmund (I think)
Some of the pathetic decisions I have seen Southgate make down the years as a manager it seems like he is deliberately trying to sabotage Englands chances of winning a tournament I know that sounds crazy but that's how bad he is
Yet has always reached the quarter finals in all 4 tournaments as an England manager. England used to beat big nations before him? No way.
The only time England get far in tournaments is because The big teams have been knocked out !
@@dannyesse3043how many teams he defeated he was expected to lose to, outside of the worst german team in the history of german teams?
Sancho’s Manchester United stint was so bad that even after joining Dortmund again(on loan) and became good again he was even on the squad for the warm up matches
One goal 90 video a day keeps the doctor away
I think this is a very good summary of Southgate.
The luck we have had coming up against beatable teams is extraordinary its got us to semis and a final, but come up against a better team and Southgate will not let the players just play , I'll never forgive him for losing the final against Italy, we were on top and dominating them in the first half , then all of a sudden the attacks stopped and for 60 minutes we went back in a shell , Italy got back into it and that was that , there was a brief spell of attacking but it felt like Southgate was happy with the draw and penalties.
People wonder if its the players being forced back, it's not , it's just habit now of Southgate to drop them deep and defend instead of going all out.
The squad selection and subsequent final eleven he has put out so far is mystifying.
A pool full of talent and Southgate wastes it by playing players out of position or taking an injured player.
NICE VIDEO G
Thanks 💯
He is the Epitome of English football players.
He reflects back at players, pundits and supporters the level of English football...and they don't like it.
Sancho didn't lead Dortmund to a cl final. He was part of the team but he certainly didn't lead them.
If you watch nigerai football it's exactly how englad plays what he said, overcomplicating the squad no tactics if England scored they sit back instead of attacking for more goals I mean how can bellingham even win the ballon d'or so disappointed
Bellingham is all about Bellingham and the problem in the team
@@dondamon4669 I can't stand the guy. He's good (most of the time)..but since going to RM his ego is getting bigger month by month. I can't stand seeing him when he goes to the fans after the goal holding his hands up high like some kind of God. (Just like Ronaldo showing the world his 6-pack)
Is he a terrible manager? Yes. Do i wish him gone? Yes. Do I hate him? No. He is incompetent plain and simple but nobody I know actually hates him
With this england team, even I could manage this team to a world cup trophy, yet southgate failed
Despite Mitchell having a good season with Crystal Palace, Southgate decided to pick Luke Shaw when he is not fully fit but I cannot blame him. He is England’s veteran and only natural Left back
Finally someone mentioned why the hell Tomori isn’t even called up! It’s baffling. Genuinely want us to lose Sunday and be done with it if they play like that again
Top support!! Nice one mate! wanting your own country to lose!! Don't like it don't watch it. You won't be missed.
🎣
@@mikeaxworthy8809 Of course, how silly of me to question the loyalty and expertise of a complete know all! I fully deserve the fish! You can now go about your day with your head 3 times it's normal size!
Dont have a replacement for Kalvin phillips 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
By the way here is my squad if I was England manager. Formation: 3-4-1-2. GK: Pickford CBs: Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi and John Stones. LM: Anthony Gordon. RM: Cold Palmer 🥶🥶CMs: Declan Rice and Connor Gallagher. CAM: Jude Bellingham. STs: Ollie Watkins and Harry Kane
Transformed England to a 60 stats team 😂
Despite me as a Liverpool fan, I think Jarrod Brantwaithe deserved it more than Joe Gomez to be in England’s final squad.
He kept many clean sheets this season and was pivotal for Everton’s survival despite the 8 points deduction
I've never hated any manager as much Southgate for what he has done on and off the field.
£5 million per year, free world travel and expenses, the cream of british footballing talent at his disposal, to get nothing but disappointment. Should not the FA look at themselves also?
back in 2019 he was talking about the team losing the arrogance pity he never lost his own arrogance
HE JUST COULDN'T GET THE JOB DONE EVEN WITH THE PRIME 2018 SQUAD.😔.
Its like having Prime Real Madrid being managed by your sons sunday league second in charge cone boy!
He doesn’t take risks
Southgate should have left after Euro 2020 when he almost destroyed the careers of Rashford, Sancho and Saka with his big brain moment of bringing them for a penalty shootout. That move right there I've realized he's a loser and don't have the minerals and mentality to take England to the next level. 8 years in the job and still not finding his identity and making lame excuses for failure and then his apologists comes in to defend him. Southgate refused to evolve as a coach and stubborn to change his philosophy to end England's drought for major titles. Southgate is a tool and a loser that will never achieve greatness.
100percent. He shoudlve been sacked ages ago. What kind of person brings a 19 year old on to take the final penalty.
Man, how fast do they make these videos
He should have at least taken either Grealish or Maddison if not both how could he have left both of them out
Sterling and Rashford weren’t at their best this season. Jack Grealish wasn’t called up because he spent majority of the season on the bench at City
2.57 because Rashford had terrable seoson
2:57 *
I said it then, and I say it again: Gareth Southgate is definitely not the man for England. It's unfortunate that England has never had the right manager. It's a team full of talent, but no one has ever been there to do the right thing. Unfortunate.
-Disappointed fan from Nepal since 1998-
Great points as England fan myself I don’t like southgate but you can not deny that he hasn’t made national team better
Actually
Better in which way? The England squads he's had could have done better if a donkey managed them.
Nice.
I have to agree with most english ppl. Southgates decisions has been more than questionable and he is not the right man for the job.
😊😊Southgate looks like Cold Palmer😊😊
4:42 Everton fans after not calling up brandwaite
man i knew we were missing some good lads but this put it into perspective gareths gotta go
Hello mate i really want to edit your videos
I hope Gareth sees this comment because if England win Euros 2024 because of this formation he has to thank me for this
Bro Calm Down The Lat Video was 1 hr ago and this another one😂
He's so flipping consistent isn't he
Lool. Cheers man
He is good tactically but trying Arnold in midfield won't just work but his selection has been a doubt he didn't call up Madison who was good for Spurs and didn't call a natural left back like Mitchell
He should start wearing that paper bag over his head again 😂
The FA need to have a 50/50 rule on managers. English manager bearly get a chance, so the options are not there.
Fun fact if you doubled tap this comment it automatically likes
No it doesn't are u stupid?
Watching from Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 Freetown 🌹
Southgate also seems to fancy Gallagher 😂😏
Tomori really deserves to play for Euro 24 but whether Southgate’s partially racist or he never even notices he has him
Nice vid
Southgate is a fool and idk why he's still Englands manager. I very much agree with the thing u said about the 2020 euros, like why he would even let Saka take the 5th penalty is something i wonder to this day. No hate or anything, I'm black as well, i just mean like, he was 19 so why would he let him take that penalty, and back then he wasn't very used to taking them. I'm convinced Southgate has only made it this far because of the talents in his team. Good video though!
correct totally agree
I think that he did that with Saka because Southgate had the same pressure in 96. In his twisted mind, he probably thought he was doing the kid a favour. Saka always puts everything into his game and is talented.
@@stevecatcheside4707 sometimes i wonder what the other players were thinking when he chose him to take the pen
What has being black got to do with it? Any footballer should score a penalty at any time!
Southgate is so woke, he still believes in bending the knee, which causes division amongst fans and players. He also wanted black players to take the last penalties so we would have a 'black hero'. Thats how woke he is, and thats the agenda. Thats more important than results in Wokegates mind.
He is not hated ,we just want him to go he is just not good enough
Hi😊
Three lions, more like the three scared kittens
Yeah exactly the same thing we City supporters say here in Norway. Why not Haaland??👺😠
Aren't you glad that Haaland is playing for you tho?
Madisson literally had a potm and no call up
Yeah, he had a good season
No dortmund fan is saying that lol😂😂
So far I have lost 6 hours of my life watching England at these euros
man l love saka but at that moment gate made his life harder
His blind advocating of that ridiculous knee taking rubbish did it for me. Never watched England since. It's sport not f****** politics!!
I don’t think much of Southgate as a coach either but l do not like to see hate pile ons like this
He should play an actual LW and Mainoo instead of Trent.
another game with no plan it always looks like he puts the players on the pitch without a plan
You can't defend him. He's absolutely clueless.
Don't think HATE is the right word, he's actually a very decent nice man who is non confrontational and always tends to say the right things (abet in a monotone boring style) to the media. My view is that 1: He's terribly inexperienced as a manager with a poor record at club record 2: He's too nice and always trying to please his players, this works to a point but at some point you need to chastise the players if and when they perform poorly 3: He's not a winner, constantly refers to "trying your best" is enough, where as someone like Pep is obsessed with winning. He classed reaching finals and losing as failure where as Southgate would class losing to a decent team as acceptable in the later rounds as unlucky. 4: His substitutions always seem to be decided pre game not based on what he sees on the pitch. They always tend to be very late and there's a massive caution to everything with the focus being on not losing, instead of trying to win. It's totally understandable why the England fans feel frustrated. We have so many attacking players but the focus seems to be on defensive duties.
Because rashford and Sterling had a very bad season with their clubs, that is why they didn't get called up.
❤
What about Steve McClaren?
He was a hundred times worse.
Good players will get to to the final without a weak and clueless manager
Nah I’m not wondering where rashford is at all but where is harry Maguire
he got injured unfortunatly
I’m saying though why ain’t he playing Mainoo though 😂
No no no Spurs fans agree with the no Maddison decision.
He was too defensively minded for most of his time and tactically naive against better teams. His success has been on the back of beating weaker teams. His time is up.
Goal 90 in ur opinion who is going to win the euros?
He's making the same mistakes as Jochim Low did as Germany manager post 2016. Staying loyal to older players and not giving younger players a chance.
Anything England has ‘achieved’ under Southgate is in spite of him not because of him.
I don’t hate the man, just his decision making and tactics. I’m sure he’s a decent guy, but oh boy, is his football boring or what? Sorry Gareth.
This guy is in my 10 most hated people on the planet list. Not kidding. I cannot stand people that destroy a product/company because of their own ego. He KNOWS that he's not qualified for the job, but he stays in there for his own devices. Such a disservice to the nation.
Southgate is a £5 million quid a year cardboard cutout who wont rock the boat.
He's certainly not the worst
The FA made GS take Shaw (mufc want to sell him....still not been able to train)..the FA made GS take Conor Gallacher (Chelsea desperate to get rid).
The FA insisted that Grealish and Maddison were dropped, which means we have weak crap players CG/JG/PF/BS to breakdown defences and they can't.
I have to admit I hate GS, he has become very rich (16m quid) and still couldn't run a bath.....but he follows FA orders..which means that England are being set up to FAIL BY THE MANAGER.
Glad to see so many fans calling him out and booing him and throwing things at him....can't wait see the back of him.
Grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory...has been repeated by GS so many times.
England ZERO chance of winning the next four games.
For the record, this tournament so far has been a big disappointment, very poor football and little to enjoy.
GS is a ****
Madisson and Grealish shld be on squad
I don’t hate him at all. I really like him. I just think he is tactically totally inept and way too over cautious.
1 tactically inept 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
watch georgia play, they have hunger
First +great content ❤
£5mil a year salary; the best player base in generations and tedious repetitive results from someone so smarmy that even the English can't stand him.
England seem to be producing more footballing talent than ever, but its coaching talent seems to have dried up. Where are the latter day successors to Sir Bobby Robson and Terry Venables?
