- Welcome back to Mulberry Branch Farm! It's important for you goat to be able to be identified if livestock tags, theft, or show registries require you to be able to identify your animal. In these situations it's best to Tattoo your Goats. This serves as a permanent identification of your animal. In this episode we go through the How, What, When, Where, and Why of tattooing and give you list of supplies you might need! We want to protect the identity of the goats born on our farm and this is how we do it!

@@MulberryBranchFarm Yes 3 of them are home. The video will be out one week from this Thursday. We have a couple coming out first. I was just looking at goat tattoo kits. We don't need any right now but at some point we will. Looks like they go anywhere from 35.00 to 250.00. We'll get a set at some point. Have a wonderful week. It's raining here for the next week. errrrrrrr! The goaties and chicks don't like it!

Thank you so much! I don't have goats but I probably will someday. It's fascinating to know about tattooing them :) I'll be tattoing several rabbits tonight though! :)
Teal Stone Homestead do you use the same kits as we do? We had a rabbit for fair that they tattooed at a workshop and one had the pliers like ours and the other was more like pen So fascinating!
Mulberry Branch Farm I’ll actually be using that same clamp from tractor supply until I get my new KBTatts pen (they’re super slow at shipping, haha). We always tattoo the left ear with our own system and then the right ear is always reserved for registration 😊
Cool video on tattooing the goats! I don’t have pure bread so I just use USDA Scrapies Tags. You have to have them tagged here if you want to sell any to others or at Livestock Auctions. 👍🏻
Thanks! We used Scrapies when we were raising market animals (Boer Goats). I find tagging to be much easier and less time consuming though!
