    Great oil change video. Love the details which CANNOT be covered in a 5 minute video, so very helpful for a 1st time oil changer. Thanks a lot.

    I just used this video for not only the steps but for tools needed to change oil in my 2017 A4 Premium Plus. The oil change worked without ANY issues. This was my first oil change on an Audi or using an extractor.
    I even bought the same torque wrench that you used. Only thing that I changed was:
    - I used 0W-40 mobile one european formula from costco (very inexpensive).
    - I used the topsider oil extractor
    Thanks for posting!

    Well done! Short, concise, to the point yet not skipping the important details.
    A shot of the underside of the engine cover, showing the location of the clips would be a nice addition but not important, just a suggestion. Thanks for this excellent work.

    Son-in-law has the same car and at two difference oil change places drained the transmission fluid instead of oil (twice!!!!!!). I don't know how that could have happened unless the AFT and the Oil plug looks exactly the same and next to each other.

    Would it be ok to diy oil change on a New car still under manufacturer warranty? Just curious im think it might not void the warranty.

    • @VoHoO
      @VoHoO  Před 5 lety

      Jonathan Chan Nope, it won’t void your warranty. Just be sure to make sure you have all the necessary tools and parts first, and follow the steps. Enjoy working on your car :)

    • @jchan197611
      @jchan197611 Před 5 lety

      Maybe i didn't state my question clearly. For instance if you take your car to the dealer for warranty work. I would think they might ask for records of maintenance done including oil change. If they were no records of such required maintenance i would think the dealer might denial any warranty work.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage Před 5 lety +1

      @@jchan197611 The dealer doesn't determine what gets warranty work or not. The manufacturer does, because they pay for the work. The dealer generally knows what the manufacturer will or won't pay for, because they write the claims. If some failure happens that could be related to not changing your oil or not doing so correctly (i.e. too little oil) you might get pushback. If you're changing the oil yourself correctly there are only few situations where this might happen. If you're paranoid about it, keep records yourself. Write down the milage, when and what you did, save receipts for the parts/fluids. How would the dealer know if another mechanic did the oil change for you? You would need a receipt.

    Is it required to use an extractor? Why not drain the oil using the plug? Just trying to learn!

    • @VoHoO
      @VoHoO  Před 6 lety

      Michael Gill Nope, the extractor is purely optional. But it saves time and much more importantly, is way more convenient and cleaner

    Quick Question doesn't this car take Mobil 1 5W-30/40 or 0W-30 - based on the manual? (2017 A4 2.0 Quattro NON-ultra in my case). Assuming those numbers for Mobil1 brand mean they refer to the corresponding SAE numbers for oil types.

    • @VoHoO
      @VoHoO  Před 6 lety +1

      Wanderer Wanderer At least here in the US, VW/Audi don’t make specific oil brand/weight recommendations. They just call out the 50x.xx spec that the oil needs to meet. For the 2.0TFSI A4 Allroad, that spec is 502.00 or 504.00. The Mobil1 and Castrol oil I’ve used meet either/both. Specific weights to be used depend on your climate, driving style etc.

    • @VoHoO
      @VoHoO  Před 6 lety

      FS E It doesn’t need to be *exact*, a little more/less should be fine. But if it’s loose, you’ll have oil leak/spill and if it’s overly tightened, removing it the next time will be very challenging

      You can see the paint mark on the front of the filter housing so just line them up when it gets tight. Make sure to properly seat and oil the O ring so it doesnt bind up.

      @@VoHoO Interesting that you think the long life oil needs to be changed twice a year. I'm going to do mine every year or 10K miles (which is more often than Audi recommend) but Audi here in Europe have a 2 year 24K mile service for the 'long life' oil (which is that Castrol Edge Professional Longlife 5W-30 VW504).
      Curious as to what made you think that it needs done twice a year?
      Thanks, Mark

      @@newbeginnings8566 see the way I look at it, is that the car manufacturer recommend this to be ok for the life of the engine while it's still under warranty. To me if you drive that many miles and that long on the same engine oil, things will go bad and that's when your car is no longer covered under warranty. Just my opinion.
