  • This is myself & my son testing out the oil extractor pump I ordered from Amazon to help change engine oil on my Audi A4 2.0 2017 Model.
    I wanted to compare its effectiveness with the old traditional method; removing oil from sump under the engine.

    How to get all the oil out with an extractor - Park on a downslope, nose first, run the engine for up to 5 minutes to warm the oil so it flows better, extract the oil, change the filter, extract some more, pour cheap or remaining unused oil from the last change (you only need 100-200ml) into the engine and wait for 10-15 minutes, extract again, repeat if necessary until all the extracted oil is clear in color. Now you can be reasonably sure all the used oil is out. Refill. Done.

      exactly! that's the ultimate way to do it, and it's what I plan to do with my 500ml left over oil from last oil change

    Hi Balbir, thanks for this, really good video, gives me confidence to do this myself too. I just bought a 2.0 40 TDI B9 A4, and my oil indicator reads "reduce oil level". I am scared to drive it and the dealership did a service in April 2024, not sure why it says reduce oil, perhaps they filled it right to the top and it should be filled to about 4.4 - 4.5 litres instead of max? Any advice would be appreciated. The dealership have an account with Halfords and they are sending me there to do a whole oil change, hopefully they do it properly, your video was so clean, neat and straightforward, any tips on to get them not f*****g it up? Thanks!

    Very helpful to save a few thousand bucks and service centers don't do much extra but the charges are huge for this.

    Well done my dear but it is 25Nm + 5Nm! First 25Nm and than you do it one more time with 30Nm.

    Any feasible way to unscrew the oil filter socket without removing the coolant reservoir?

    Does this work for 2016? Could you do a video for it if possible. The air filter doesn't open when I turn it

    Hi great video thanks after how many kilometres do you change the oil? Also when do you change diesel and air filter?

    • @MaxMoment2023
      @MaxMoment2023 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Audi recommend 30k km oil change but I think that’s far too long. I would change oil & filter at 15k km (or yearly at most). Fuel filter Audi recommend 60k km and Audi recommend air filter at 90k km which is madness. It should be fuel filter & air filter every second service at 30k km. servicing is cheap, engines are not!

      Sukhwant - You can take the old dirty oil to your council’s local recycling and waste centre. They dispose of this safely and / or recycle it. Hope that helps.

    Shouldn't you be using 0w2o oil for that engine?

    • @MaxMoment2023

      Should be 0W30. VW spec 504 & 507. ACEA C3

    How much does the pump cost?

    • @balbirgohler4731
      @balbirgohler4731  Před 2 lety

      I only paid £20 for mine. There are various versions on the market. I didn’t opt for the one with built in container because it would get messy disposing into another container later anyway.
