    Jeez people need to calm down. There were hundreds of plays just like this before Cousins did it, his just happened to cause more injury. He was remorseful and obviously didn't want to injury Posey. Wishing death on him isn't necessary.

      Agreed, they blew this out of proportion because Buster was on the receiving end. It’s like people have never watch baseball before this incident. HUNDREDS of plays at the plate like this before hand. He’s right, their in the 12th, shallow pop fly, he needed to make something happen. Anyone else would have done the same thing in that situation.

    In September this year Brandon Crawford scored on a similar play.
    He slid way on outside of the plate and just reached with his finger tips to touch outside of plate as he slid by. Cousins would have had a 50/50 shot of scoring that way here, instead of blindsiding posey.

    • @zebman9228
      @zebman9228 Před 2 lety +4

      I agree he definitly should have tried to slide - maybe head first to the right and stick a hand over. At home you only need to touch the plate for an instant. Do not agree he blindsided Posey. Posey decided to swivel back to his left - fully into the base path to block the runner without the ball. Posey was originally well in front of home plate. It happened so fast, I am sure there was not a lot of time to think about it for Posey. This was much more damaging to Cousins because he will have to live with it the rest of his life.

    This wasn’t even the worst collision I’ve seen, it’s just unfortunate busters foot and leg got caught up under him in an awkward position, Cousins played within the rules of the game at the time, and again, it was not the worst collision, I have seen runners hunt catchers down that weren’t even in their base path, and everyone just got up and dusted themselves off, the rules are different now, but the way posey moved into the runner, I don’t know, seems like only Giants fans have a problem with Cousins, understandably, 🤷🏽, you are on you tube now, look up plate collisions and none were deemed illegal and most weren’t deemed malicious, remember when Rodriguez held the ball up in victory after a collision?

    Third base camera makes it look like Cousins moved to the left very slightly but still inside the base path and braced with his left shoulder. Really rather acceptable. Posey for some reason decided to swivle right into the base path to take the contact and maybe attempt to block the plate - all without the ball in his hand or glove. Not sure why Posey did this instead of doing everything he could to get out of the way.

      Cousins had a lane to the plate and Posey wasn’t even squared up or blocking the plate yet. Cousins targeted the catcher but didn’t even give the guy a chance to defend himself - Posey was looking for the throw coming in and just barely turned at the last moment. That’s what makes it a dirty play. And of course Posey isn’t going to call him out - no catcher is going to complain about a rough play. The thing is, although Posey has “recovered” he has never been 100% the same. He has to rest more games, because catching is so rough on the legs and ankles. The Giants tried having him play 1B to keep him hitting in the lineup but at a less taxing position. He has Hall of Fame caliber numbers now, but he has also missed many more games or been not in full form because of the damage to his leg and ankle. Just imagine how much better he could have been if he didn’t have his leg shattered. This play took a lot out of him. And he was just starting his young career when it happened - Cousins could’ve cost the guy his entire baseball career. Dirty, dangerous, unnecessary play. If the catcher is squared up, with the ball and deliberately blocking the plate, then fine it’s an old school play. But if the guy is not blocking the plate, not squared up, and not in a position to see and prepare to take the hit, then it’s a sucker punch - a sucker punch at full barreling speed.

    Man some little giants fans have no class. They worship the biggest cheater of all time, then whenever someone from say, LA starts playing good they wish horrible things for them! I lived in Northern California from 2000-2021 after moving from Colorado and growing up a Rockies fan, they’d discount any and every achievement a Rockies player did because “it’s Coors Field”, yet while their whole locker room is sticking needles in their ass they don’t see any problem with it. To me they’re the most entitled, hateful fans I’ve come across, even Dodger fans are better (and I’m not particularly fond of them either)!
