    I already have the Sony 18-105. It works well for outdoors, but I have used it for video indoors for filming my grandson in a kid’s theatre performance. Takes decent photos outdoors and the zoom help me get a reasonable photo of an eagle perched high in a tree. I have the Sigma 30mm, F1.4 but don’t use it much because it’s not wide enough for indoor family events. For that I use the Sony 24mm, F1.8. I might want to consider the Sony 11mm or Sigma 16 mm and the Tamron 17-70 to complement my lens’ library. Thanks for your video. I’m trying to decide if I want to update to a new/different lens or to move from my a6500 to the a6700. I want to stay with APSC simply because of smaller sizes than full frame lens. Of course, if someone gave me the upcoming A7Cii, I wouldn’t complain.

    A newbie question about lenses. I often find a very good price for a lens for my Sony ZV-E10 but it is made for a different mount (usually EF).
    Is it advisable to buy it and use an adapter or is it going to be a completely different lens this way?

  • @YohamYT

    I'd pick the Sigma 16mm F1.4 & the Sony 18-105 F4, I plan on getting them later once I have the budget, would work well for my uses.

  • @MarlonKingShow
    @MarlonKingShow Před 11 měsíci

    If it was 2 of them, ignoring the fact i already have the 16mm sigma and 18-105 Sony. I would pick the tameron 17-70. That extra 2.8f stop plus oss im hoping would one up my sony zoom. Second would be the 11mm sony, for the extra wide shots which i dont have anything to cover currently.
    In an ideal world i think would prefer a 13mm lens but once you use active stabilisation probably the 11mm is about right.
    Thanks for the video!

    *I have the 16mm as I Bought that for My A6400 and also bought the 11mm as I did a test video with it on ZV-E10 and it's my Main Lens FOR that camera, never really thought about using it on my FX30 for a Vlogging lens. But I was lookin for a smaller alternative Lens TOO my Sigma 16mm and the 15mm was going to be it but since it's the same as the 16mm I'm now Looking into the 23mm*

    Hey Keith, nice to see another Toronto creator. I think you might be mistaken you had the 23mm 1.4 back in the day. It only came out this year in April (I bought one and immediately broke it lol). The 56 is quite a bit older. You probably meant the 30mm and 16mm with your a6400?

  • @mervkeyes8804
    @mervkeyes8804 Před 11 měsíci +1

    I have the Sony 18-105, Sigma 16 and Tamron 17-70. The Sony 18-105 is great for video because of the power zoom which works on my Sony tripod that connects to my A6600 and operates all the functions from the handle. However it's kind of slow and soft for photography.
    I use the Tamron 17-70 f/2.8 as a general walk around lens and for indoor event photos. However since I got it I rarely use my Sigma 16 anymore. I love the 16 but it's kind of redundant.
    I also have a Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 DI III VXD which is very fast and sharp.
    I would like to get the Sony 11mm wide angle for interiors and a Sony E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G OSS lens for more reach on nature photography.
    That said, there are a lot of affordable used A7 3's out now that the A7 4 is out. I might even go for an A7R if I can get a good deal on one used. Some of my lenses are FE and with work on full frame or APS-C. Plus I bought a used Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD by mistake, which I could keep because it's an FE lens.
    Another bonus is that the A7 series batteries are the same as the A6600 and A6700.

    I have the Tamron 17-70MM and im looking for an alternative. At 70MM F2.8, the contrast is total garbage. Im constantly having to step down to F4 ot 5.6 to get the image sharp again. I thought it was my camera, but I tried other copies and it has the same problem. Contrast around bright objects.

Using the Sony fx30 with the Samyang 24mm T1.9 for the last 3 months and I am really enjoying shooting videos with it. However, not really enjoying the stills capability of this camera. Planning to upgrade to a full frame or to the new a6700 that recently launched as I am required to take a few stills in my line of work. When I do get my hands on a new camera capable of taking stills, then would get the 24-70mm from sigma.

    I have the Sigma 16mm and the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 on a ZV-E10. In a direct comparison, the Viltrox has better autofocus precision and a significantly better manual focus (finer adjustment). The Sigma is a bit warmer in color, the Viltrox is a bit more analytical. In my opinion, the Viltrox is much sharper around the edges but has a little more vignetting. My other lenses are of course the Tamron 17-70. But I also bought the Tamron 18-300, which is an amazing budget zoom lens.

      @@wouldoox8024 The VC is problematic for shooting video and you can't turn it off. It literally flips out if you zoom anything but slowly... and to be honest 2.8 it's just not fast enough on a APSC to get the best look from the camera. Better to get a used Sigma 18-35 f1.8 with adapter.

    Are you saying 1000$ is a good budget???

    • @whenthereal
      @whenthereal Před měsícem

      Sorry but yes. With great consideration, photography is one of the most expensive hobbies. From cameras ranging from 2k-3k dollars in some places, with most lenses costing around 1-2k. 700-1k is considered cheap to those lenses which are 2k from tamron, sony, and sigma.
      Now this isnt to demotivate you from your hobby, but is an advisory or reminder. Keep up the photos with that you got!!

      Haha the term "budget" is extremely subjective! These were around the less-expensive-but-still-good lenses, but that title was too long

      There are cheaper lenses, but I feel like these ones are the best image quality to price - if you have any suggestions let me know. I love testing out new lenses

    BUDGET APSC lenses? Are APSC lenses not already the budget version in the camera world?
