  • The new Jurassic Park movie written by David Koepp after Dominion is sounding like it’s going to be a whole new world of dinosaur stuff for the franchise. David Leitch is no longer directing and they really want the movie to come out next year. Rumors about it being like Escape From New York were squashed but it will have some action and apparently try to get away from the last trilogy’s ideas.

Getting away from the dominion direction is DEFINITELY the best option. Maybe they WILL make the dinosaurs scary again, particularly make herbivores feel more threatening (thats why the stegosaurus scene from TLW and Therizinosaurus scene from JWD work so well).

It does sound as a big red flag they are designing dinosaurs before having director. Because, how far they are in pre-production? The director was not involved in any of those decisions... And how late will the director be as he arrives to a rushed project? That doesn´t sound good at all... I'm glad Leitch is gone, even though he's a good director, just because I don't think his visual flair fits the franchise, but I'm kind of sick of hearing this sentiment that if Leitch directed it, it would be Fast & Furious. Having the director of Hobbs & Shaw direct that Koepp script doesn't magically change the Koepp script. Like, in what world does that even make a lick of sense?

I have a theory it might take place on Sorna because of a dino there that had potential, but only had a brief appearance.
This dino that I'm talking about is Ceratosaurus, this dino is a bit smaller than the T-rex, but can work as an "antagonist".
Plus the jurassic world poster has four claw marks. Similar to the jurassic park 3 poster that had 3 claw marks and the obvious spino seen as a temporary mascot for the Jurassic franchise.
It can work well because Ceratosaurus isn't a hybrid like Indoraptor or Indominus Rex.

I'm thankful that Marshall and Spielberg learned from their experiences with Trevorrow and are doing the exact opposite of what they did before. Jurassic is too precious to just trust with anyone and they're protecting what Koepp has done here (which seems to be exceptionally good) and mama-bearing the IP at all costs. The moment Leitch's team tried to take total control, Spielberg stepped in and made a harsh, but necessary decision, something he failed to do with Trevorrow. While a delay may be coming, I think everything here sounds incredibly encouraging and it sounds like maybe the film would be best served to just put Koepp behind the camera as well. This is basically Koepp's film anyway.

If Universal is aware of the issues, and Spielberg is directly involved to dial things back and steer things back towards the tone of the original couple of movies, that's a good start. I'm cautiously optimistic if that is the case. It's all in the execution, though. Plenty of films have come before where it seems like they're saying all the right things, and they still end up sucking, and falling into the same mistakes of the past. The 2025 release date does seem like a pretty short amount of time, but if a lot of the pre-production stuff is further along then we know, hopefully they have the time required to get everything where it needs to be.

3:54 sounds like some of the fan fiction JP novels I've written for myself. I've never shared them with anyone. They're just for my personal entertainment. I only mention it because this is the exact theme I think is so compelling for the JP storyline. We need people back on the island, circa 1994-1998, post JP or Lost World. They need to be in danger in that place. They need to be fighting for survival. It needs to be majestic at times, but terrifying and gruesome at others.

@@chazchaz2121 I don't understand how movies are made so I can't comment intelligently. But it seems reasonable to have a script, and a known collection of dinosaurs for those scenes. • @chazchaz2121
      @chazchaz2121 Před 4 měsíci +2

All good man, having a conversation it´s nice. And yeah is a good point. It depends on the movie for sure, not all movies have the same type of production or workflow.
But when a director is present from the start is a very good sign because he would be in sync as they develop the concepts.
For example, Spielberg worked closely with writers and developed storyboards so he was involved in all the aspects.
In this one they are designing dinosaurs so the preproduction is very advanced right now, they must have storyboards or they should because the cinematography is as important as the writing and one of the aspects you start early on. If you look at Spielberg's storyboards Allan Grant looks like in the book and the t rex is far from the final design, but is normal they are developing the style of the sequences and cinematography in the early phases.
Then gradually other artists get into the mix but the bases are solid so you build around something well done.
This time they are focusing on designs first which is more like the approach of selling toys, so that is not too reassuring, on top of that they do not have a director, and that is not the first time they have done something like that but is very risky, because the director would be late, especially in a rushed project like this one.
To me is hard to believe that they already have a workflow that is proven to work in the first two movies (the ones everybody wants to come back to), so why change it for a workflow they use in the more criticized movies?
It´s like they are not learning from past mistakes and that is not too good.
Either way, I love Jurassic and Dinosaurs I hope they take more time and don't rush it, fans will wait for something good.
Cheers man! thanks for having a meaningful point to talk about.@@nonconsensualopinion

See this is exactly what I really like about the Jurassic Park TellTale game, they weren't perfect but they explored a lot of ideas that could be phenomenal for a movie, about the horror of being stuck on that island during that whole disaster, especially because there's obviously dozens of people working there, many of them probably got devoured, and I thought there was some great horror with the cast of characters in that game, especially when someone's corpse was being turned into a nest, and they're crawling through all those vents and underground maintenance tunnels, there is a perfect horror/slasher setup inherent in this isolated claustrophobic tropical island at night with industrial interiors/tunnels straight out of Alien.

Funny, I actually thought of a cool sequel in the vein of Escape from Ny. It would have taken place after Fallen Kingdom with the Dino’s loose and would have had Zia Rodriguez as the main character as well as finally introduce Dr. Martin Gutierrez.
It would take place in Costa Rica in a suburban city within radius to the jungle. Dinos are rampant in the main land at this point say 2 years passed. Also it explore Zia’s relationship with her girl friend ( let’s say her name is Rita ) and the village community in Costa Rica where this is from.
I was a little inspired by Val Lewton’s The Leopard with this. I thought Rita could be an entertainer at some club like a snake dancer but with the theme of “control “ in these movies, Rita acquires threw shady means, a juvenile Dilophosaur for her act. It escapes at one point of course and then people are killed in the village and suspect the Dilophosaur cause of the traces of venom on the bodies. But some victims who survive are acting rabidly strange. This where Martin comes in and finds out the strain of venom is not if a Dilophosaur but of another creature all together. We can introduce a bizarre gang or cult that is using dinosaurs for evil means of a powerful delusion. It is there they discover the Dino responsible is a troodon Or even the real-life thought to be venomous dinosaur Sinornithosaurus. A a big group of them are set loose and bit a tone of villagers including Rita. Threw further investigation, Martin discovers that they can’t make an anti venom because this group of Dino’s are a specially created second generation and more pure blood. In order to make an anti venom they need a 1st generation pure blood Sinornithosaurus/troodon. But the only place to get it is on one of the islands in the Five Deaths. So this gets Zia, Martin, and others to go to the island filled with unknown prehistoric creatures and save the small town in Costa Rica.
Anyway that’s just what I got.

The movie poster for Jurassic World has four claw marks. This is simply a theory regarding the new dinosaur "antagonist," however Ceratosaurus might be one of the major villains or the primary villain. I suggest Ceratosaurus because it had four long-clawed digits on its front foot.
And it's possible that it takes place on Sorna because Ceratosaurus has only been spotted on Sorna once before (Jurassic Park III), but didn't get as much spotlight as Spino or T-Rex did in The Lost World & JP 3 where both take place on Isla Sorna.
Isla Sorna can be considered an option for this upcoming Jurassic World sequel because only Isla nublar was the main focus for the first two Jurassic World films.

Very interesting info. I respect the people working on this film for trying to undo a lot of the problems that unfortunately plagued Dominion. Now that David Leitch is out, I'm interested to see what director they'll hire. The directors I'm personally hoping are being considered are Peter Jackson, Gareth Edwards or Guillermo del Toro. I'd also be open to seeing either Bryce Dallas Howard or even J.A. Bayona be brought back on board as well. Whatever they decide, I just hope it works out in the long run.

Edit: ok. A little less intimidated- but this can go either way.
The fact that they seem to realize the damage they did in their last direction is hopeful because yeah. Turning it into Transformers is not a good thing.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m a transformers fan since I was little- but when it starts going into a multiverse situation it really has hit its dying point imo.

It does sound as a big red flag they are designing dinosaurs before having director. Because, how far they are in pre-production? The director was not involved in any of those decisions... And how late will the director be as he arrives to a rushed project? That doesn´t sound good at all... Is more like the workflow they use in the 80s with toy lines, first designs then story, and it was because the focus was selling toys...

Hi Klayton love your channel here from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. I'm 40 now and like you, I love JP since its release in 93. I thought the 3D release in 2013 was amazing, did you?
Anywho I've said this on your channel many times that I think they will do a prequel to how JP was created.
Or something similar towards the new survival game. We're living in the nostalgia era and I think to make us all feel good about the franchise we will see the original Jurassic Park once again. Dobson will be the only original character. So we won't see Alan, Ian, Ele etc.
Finally, we will see how the embryos can got rescued, because not all of us have played the JP game on PC. Unlike you did, which was great because it shows us how the can had a tracking device. And Sarah Harding Dad played the protagonist. So this would be like a JP 4 or JP origins.
A prequel would fix the bond between fans and the franchise. Then they could do JW 4 to fix Dominions mess and show us what we wanted to see Dinosaurs vs the world. Because what happened to 'Welcome to Jurassic World' we saw glimpses! 🤦‍♂️🙈🤷‍♂️🙄👎.
Keep up the good work man! 👏 👍

  • @seanmatthew9943

Personally, I want the new movie to be a prequel story, similar to Star Wars where the storyline would take place in the past between JP1, TLWofJP, & JP3. Because I really want to see Isla Sorna again. The fact they have so many ideas on the mysterious unknown island for two movies straight is a gold mine for the box office that wants to make money about an island full of mysteries & dinosaurs. I think ideas such as the "SpinoRaptor" from JW Evo would make the perfect dinosaur antagonist in a future movie.
Another idea, I always thought is brilliant was that we get to see more stories of "Camp Cretaceous" that will connect in some shape or form towards the movies, because it's clear there was a humongous effort to connect the stories from the JP/JW Movies, and the fact that they haven't considered to have any of the main story characters like "Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, or even Owen Grady" to make a physical cameo appearance is very disappointing despite being mentioned numerous times.
In short, I want the franchise to go towards a direction similar to Star Wars, make more side stories or new timelines to expand the JP Universe, so it could continue for a long time, despite the lack of Canon Movies.

@destroyerzilla7634 Well, yes, I agree, but in Dominion's case, it just seemed like a completely different situation, they didn't tell us anything about the film's actual plot, nothing about Masey or whatever getting kidnapped nor the bugs. Most trailers do give you a basic idea of what the film's going to be about, whether they end up showing too much is up to the ones in charge. The first Jurassic World had a pretty good trailer, gave us a basic idea without showing the entire thing, and then on the other hand there's Fallen Kingdom that showed pretty much everything.

I assume this film will take place after Dominion, and I think Koepp's writing and take on something in this new world with dinosaurs all over the mainland will be awesome. I personally really liked Dominion but I totally understand where people are coming from when they say they don't like it. I'm really looking forward to this film and in my opinion, I really hope we see some more of the new Dominion species again. I liked the group of new species that was in that film and they all need more screen time. To see the Pyroraptor, Therizinosaurus, and Dimetrodons again would be fantastic. The Giganotosaurus would be cool if it came back but I feel that it's unlikely considering that the franchise has a tradition of not bringing back larger dino antagonists if it's not the T.rex. Koepp has done some cool stuff with raptors so to see that applied to Pyroraptors, Atrociraptors, and some new wild mainland raptors would be very cool.

JW: Dominion is the only film of the franchise I didn't go to see because I just wasn't feeling it at all. Aside from the opening scene, I just didn't like everything else that came after. Another thing and this is a big thing I want for JP 7: Give us Smilodon! Camp Cretaceous did the big cat dirty and we never saw him again. If they are aiming to have it be set in a colder environment like Canada or Alaska (granted I think British Columbia would be a great setting) those would be the perfect places to have the cat and some of the feathered dinosaurs. With regards to feathers, I think the Jurassic World Evolution 2 Yutyrannus and Utah Raptor would be a great parallel to Jurassic Park's older dinosaurs to T Rex and Velociraptors, I'm all for the idea of other companies utilizing different genetics for dinosaurs. The Ingen and Biosyn Dinosaurs will absolutely be around, I want the fact that genetic power is open source since Fallen Kingdom to be a thing where classic and accurate Dinosaurs are there in addition to Dinosaurs that can very well be monsters in comparison to the two brands that were there and I don't mean hybrids, think Sorkin's Troodons but actually with intent on being monsters.
