      yes...anything else.. is snake oil.. there are 10's of these tests on the ecoboost intake valve cleaners.. but only 1 or 2 that show before an after photos of the valves//intake

    I do this on my 2011 f150 3.5 every other oil change. Really makes a difference in my gas mileage.

    Got to use the STP in a '12 F-150 with 160,000 miles on it today. All went well. I never saw anything come out of the exhaust. So I'm hoping it's because it's in great shape--not so caked up it did no good. Check engine (O2 sensor code) came on while driving. Reset after reading it. I'm just surprised nothing came out of the exhaust. Everyone I've seen do it or read about said they saw some smoke. Maybe the old truck is pretty clean inside. I'm hoping.

    I think this product would work good for a maintenance procedure every other oil change. If this is done regularly on a schedule from the time the engine is new, then it would most likely keep things relatively clean. For existing carbon buildup, that's tough, thick, and baked on good, I think getting it clean using walnut shell blasting works the best to get things back to near-new condition. Then just use this product every 8K-10K miles to help keep them clean. Also a quality oil separator/catch can would help a lot in keeping those valves and intakes clean.

    I use seafoam in every oilchange and i use the other stuff crc intake cleaner once a year and i have no buildup on my intake valves ive been doing this since i bought it new in 2016 with 16 miles on it the crc really works good

    I envy the location of your throttle body. I’ve got two VW 1.8 TSI engines that I want to do this to, but the throttle body is between the engine and the radiator and buried under some coolant lines. I really like the look of this product though. I will be checking it out for sure. Much better design for application versus the competitors.

    Yeah, it's like this was a great topic - in theory. You said you were a mechanic testing a product, so I'm imagining before and after scope imagery. But no. Just a feeling that it seems like it pulls harder than you remember.

    Maybe I need to try this. Going to swap out plugs and boots tomorrow if the boots show up in time today, but I'm getting like 15 max even driving out in the fields like what you show in this video. You seeing 21+ MPG has me frustrated. I don't feel like the truck is sluggish, cleaning the MAP/MAF sensors seems to have helped the rough idle I was feeling but did nothing for MPG. I feel like this truck should be getting better MPG. Could all be plugs but no misfires or codes. Gotta be something messed up in there to get such crummy MPG.

      Possibly on some vehicles. I assume STP wants you to go through the throttle body to ensure the cleaner is distributed to each cylinder equally. Some engines have the vacuum for the PCV located very close to one cylinder, which could cause issues in getting the cleaner properly distributed….. that’s what I assume their logic to be anyway.     I think what happened is when it started running a little rough when you're driving it I think a piece of cab and loosened up and got stuck on the valve for a second and then it blew off

    Good video! I've been wondering ... I've heard STP is the best. I think that stumble you felt driving was carbon breaking loose from the valves....the cleaner had time to soak in. Then you blasted it loose by driving.

    It only takes 3 hours to do it by hand every one hundred thousand I use crc cleaner every 10000 miles it was surprisingly clean but down deep she was dirty

    At one point Ford said not to do chemical cleaning as it has a high likelihood of damaging the turbo. Seems one issue is it can really heat them up due to the rich mix while treating. I'd love to do this on my '12 F-150 3.5, but am a little concerned it may address one problem and cause a more expensive one. Any updates on the truck? Thanks for the video my Ky brother!

      Fuel mileage is about the same as before the cleaning….. haven’t had any issues with turbos, breakdowns, or other mechanical issues. Power and drivability are still great, idle is smoother than before the cleaning. Thanks for the comments!

      @@brockautorepair Thanks for the reply! Glad to hear the truck is doing well. I think I will give this a try. My new to me f-150 has 160,000 on it but otherwise looks like it's 5 yrs old. Want to make sure it keeps going a long time. Love the big Valvoline sign. (Wife used to work for Ashland, later Marathon.)

      It seems to have a smoother idle after the cleaning.... gas mileage has dropped almost 1 mpg since the video, but I attribute that to the combination of winter blend fuel, colder temps so it takes longer to warm up and go into closed loop, more idle time because of cold, etc. Now that we're into 50 and above weather everyday, I will reset the fuel mileage again and see how it compares to the mileage shown in the video.

    Doesn't this stuff destroy the turbos? I have read that the turbos overheat and the seals go bad.

      No not at all….. it’s completely safe to use on turbocharged engines

      yes,it does.. we had 3 engines that used ' intake valve cleaners' they bought new turbos, after a bunch of carbon went thru the spinning turbine blades, in the past 2 months.. all of them said they saw these videos on youtube...cost them on ave 4500 to fix their cars. trucks.. best way to clean.. walnut shell blasting...nothing in a can can fix carbon build up on the d.i. engine

      That’s why you apply it at the throttle body, and not the air filter inlet. Basically you’re downstream of the turbos, instead of upstream.

      As you can see, he's bypassing the turbos by going straight into the throttle body. Never touches the turbos.

    B-12 in gas tank and MMO in oil. My 2008 focus has come alive with regular treatments
    Would the chunks going out tail pipe not destroy the turbos passing threw those

      That combo will work great for cleaning the injectors themselves, but won't help with the intake system on direct injection engines. The fuel mixture doesn't spray onto the intake valve or inside the intake manifold, so it doesn't have the opportunity to clean those. The problem comes from the crankcase vent system blowing oil vapor into the intake and then it clinging to hot parts and hardening.
      During cleaning the pieces of carbon going out the tailpipe have already been softened and mostly burned up anyway during the combustion process after they enter the cylinders. No worries of hurting the turbo wheel. Thanks for the comment!

      It won’t hurt anything…. This cleaner softens the carbon up, which is why it comes off the intake valves. So after the soft pieces of carbon go past the intake valve, through a combustion cycle, and past the exhaust valve…. There’s nothing left to hurt the turbocharger.

      @@randellgribben9772 1) soft carbon won’t hurt a turbo, especially after it’s been past two valves and through a combustion cycle. 2) It’s been proven many times, with video proof, that this STP cleaner does break down and remove the carbon. Look at the other folks videos, they show before, during, and after the cleaning. 3) who’s selling snake oils? I’m not selling anything…. I showed the process of using it, that’s all. 4) not sure if you realize, I’m a tech too and I’ve been doing this work for almost 30 years, long before GDI engines were mainstream. Since GDI engines have been popular I’ve done this valve cleaning process many time and have never had any issues with hurting a turbocharger.

      Jimmy, the Gen 2 3.5L got a port injector. I believe that the Gen 2 is 18+, so anything 2011-2017 would not have the port injector that helps wash down the back side of the intake valve.

      @@LarryMusgrave Actually, its 2017 for the 3.5 gen2. Its easy to confuse because 2018 was the first year for the 3.3 and 2.7 gen 2 motors, along with the 3rd gen 5.0's. All 3 motors added a 2nd fuel injection system that year. The 3.3 and 2.7 added port, and the 5.0 added direct.
      I don't bring it up to be an ass, or anything. Its just that this information is critical for people shopping for a used vehicle. For example, everyone wants an F150 with a gen 1 or 2 5.0, so 2017 is the cutoff for that motor, but if you want the added port injection, 2018 and up is the better year to get for those engines.

    I love how your car updates the average mpg every second. My car only every minute. Which sucks terribly. It is a crazy chaotic car at updating the data! Avg fuel consumption every minute, average speed every 10 seconds, current fuel consumption every 2 seconds, remaining range every second. Who thought that was a good idea? I want EVERYTHING updated every second! 🤣

      Yes, it's pretty handy. The truck shows MPG since it was last reset by you, MPG for the past 30 minutes, and instant MPG (what it's getting right this second). Thanks for your comment!

      I tried..... usually with automated calls it will give you an option to be taken off the call list, press 1 for this 2 for that and 9 to be removed..... This didn't give an option for being removed and no human ever comes on the line. Luckily the elections are over now and I haven't gotten that call again lol. Thanks for the comment!

      The burnt cleaner only goes through the turbine side of the turbo, not sure how it would ruin a seal. We’re spraying the cleaner into the engine after the turbo on the intake side of things.
