- Rush hour in Cleethorpes and Grimsby is normally a gentle affair at the busiest of times - nothing to match the big cities. But the day after Boris announces the UK shutdown, my drive to work was so gentle it almost felt surreal...
Been 20 years since I last visited Cleethorpes and watching this brought fond memories. I see a lot of change but some of the places i frequented still exist. I do miss my hometown but not the weather. Thanks for the posting Shed.
I saw Willys pub on the front there. My son who lives in Grimsby loves real ale, so he bought the Rutland Arms in Grimsby and completely refurbished it, not great at the moment, I just hope he can ride this pandemic and succeed. Go there for a drink if you’re in the vicinity.
It is odd that this is now nearly three years ago already-where does the time go too of course? Thank you though.
Never seen Cleethorpes so quiet. Left the area in 1997 but been back since and this is weird
I got excited there because I thought you'd gone past me jogging near the beginning, but then I remembered that I hadn't run that route this year.
Mike, you're a Gamer and Musician but go jogging? Doesnt sound quite compatible somehow lol
My wife is from Grimsby. I really enjoyed watching this drive thru. Didn't realise how nice the seafront area is
Thanks for liking my vid, L 👍
Cleethorpes is a very pleasant seaside town, having moved on from its once downbeat reputation. Great architecture, great people, great hospitality. And I won’t have a bad word said about Grimsby either, hope your wife agrees! 😊👍
1:21 Says there's the new theatre/cinema.' It actually opened 16 years prior to this video date 😁.
The newest cinema in the Grimsby / Cleethorpes area prior to this one, opened in 1927. So because of this, and because everyone locally still calls it the new cinema / theatre, I'm sticking with what I called it.
Enjoyed that fella as I’m thinking of moving from London to cleethorpes and was up there a while back . The video was handy reminder , thanks 🙏
Thanks for the comment, Dub :-)
Another London lad moving up here? I hear more and more southern accents in lovely North Lincs these days - great to have you up here! Though don’t go telling too many people about it teehee
@@shedintheshire3434 ✊🏻👍👍👍thank fella , sadly London is not the town of old and no telling I think n lincs is a hidden gem 💎✌️😇
Lived here all my life, I wouldn't recommend it tbh
@@lewisjohnson1460 what cleethorpes . Why is that then 👍😮😇
Grimsby Rd becomes Cleethorpe Rd at Park St & vice versa going the other way...even I know that & I left 34 years ago! Sea front hasn't changed much though.
Quite correct, well remembered.
Lol you went past my street
Nice one Jamie: wave next time you se me - a lone white van driven by a guy with a camera round his neck! lol
How did you do the Video , hope not with a phone while driving
Hell no, I filmed it on a proper camera in my left hand... my phone was in my right hand and I steered with my knees. Bit of a devil changing gear i must confess. But no police around to catch me - they were busy manning their ‘Snitch On Your Neighbour’ portal. Thank God they’re protecting us from these dangerous lunatics walking their dogs in groups of three...sick I tell you...sick..

Now that’s a reply 👏😂

@@shedintheshire3434 you couldn't have been that observent then a Police car passed you as you where approaching the mini roundabout near the leisure center lol 1 min 54.
Sadly I don’t have a go-pro - it was taken on my cheapo Kodak digital SLR, hand held as I was driving.
You mean the paramedic I think / yes, saw him. He’s always up and down there, ready to resuscitate the old folk who walk a mile further than they ought. But if it was the police: so what?
