    Why is he portrayed as a villain by the media, I will never understand. I have always admired him, but in recent years, I have really grown to respect Novak. Always in awe of what he has achieved despite having so little in his favour for pretty much his entire formative years. In my opinion, he is the greatest athlete of all time. Sending all love and positive vibes from India 😊

      He was a danger to the media personas of Roger and Rafa, to all their lucrative sponsorships and well manicured appearances across the public sphere. He was a disruptive element. And he still is. A simple poor kid that came from nothing was never supposed to be the face of a "gentleman's" sport. I guess no one informed them that Serbians have something called "INAT" imprinted in our genes. Now he is the GOAT of tennis and so much more off court.

    • @milutinitc4937

      You must understand that NATO have military bases in Serbia, and they are taking 15% of our territory by force. They are making movies with bad Serbs for 30+ years, and they don't want some Novak or Jokić to show you what real Serbia is...

    • @michaelbrown192
      @michaelbrown192 Před 3 měsíci +1

      The reason is that it's politics that's why he is a villain. Big time politics. Had he accepted the British citizenship, he would have been the dearest hero. The fact that he overcame all that and became GOAT is one of the overlooked testaments to his greatness aside form results.

    I have followed Novak for over a decade, and read and watched as much as I could about not only his tennis but his life and views. His tennis is sublime. His level of self-expression and depth of self-searching is truly extraordinary. "My greatest achievement is an open mind." This interview is a gift to a true fan like me, particularly about the impact of the war and bombing on him as a boy, his family, the country. "I'm at my best when I understand that the power comes from within... vulnerability is a beautiful thing to show...." What he says about his kids and relationship with Jelena ... beautiful! And about the education of children and of their parents... Thank you, Graham, for this remarkable interview.

      Agree. Unfortunatly I didnt grew up with propare parents care. And sometimes I am very insecure about my feelings and self worth. But using that same metologie you can realy grow as a person. Its wonderful to show your vulnerability...it means that you want more in a good way. Open mind is really the top level that you can reach. But as with everything you have to work on it every day, learning how to manage it.
      What I want to say is that Novak is my confirmation that I am doing things in a good way, even if it is realy hard sometimes. But the power comes from within.
      Also we are the same mentality, and big thanks to him that he is showing the world what we are capeable of. Big support from Croatia. Podrška Nole.

He told the media not to ask him how many injections he got during the French Open, but he made it clear he gets boinks before during and after matches. I have no idea how he can make it up to Zerev, but amazing players are going to get seriously injured if they're playing against diltoids who have pre-emptively numbed their bodies from feeling pain. Be snarky all you want, but when you start caring about stuff enough to feel for what's 'real', you won't be wondering where Nadal is or what he's doing. • @danilodesnica3821
    @danilodesnica3821 Před rokem +120

    Djokovic is my favourite tennis player by far, because he is simply a superb tennis player - unsurpassable, in my opinion. And I also like his personality, generosity, humour (especially his impersonations LOL) and thoughtfulness. There's a philosopher deep in him somewhere, he's one of the few tennis players that I would love to have a deep conversation with, about life, the universe and everything - I know I wouldn't be bored to death after 5 minutes!
    But I also support him because he's a bit of an underdog. Yes, he is No.1, the best player ever probably, but when he plays, it feels as if the whole world are against him:- The commentators making snide remarks, ignoring his brilliant shots. The media picking faults and spinning stories to put him in the negative light, whipping up various groups against him, e.g. he's anti-feminist, he's an antivaxer, he'll never be as "popular" as Federer, etc. The on court audience cheering for his opponent (which is OK if they support the other player, but most of the time, they are just cheering against him), behaving like mobs who are ready to lynch him, some people in the crowd even do their best to disrupt his play - (I wonder who organises that? It's unlikely to be simply whipped up by the media! The politicians (Australia) imprison him after giving him all the official documents to enter the country, they use special ministerial powers reserved for terrorists, where natural justice doesn't apply, so that he cannot defend his position in law. The tournaments apply different rules to him than are normally applied (his disqualification from the US Open). The public who don't follow tennis closely, buy in to this discrimination. And yet, despite all this, he comes through it, still king and generous, still fair and just, and still the greatest tennis player ever.
    But when we look into it, it isn't really the whole world against him, it's just the so called Western world. He's loved and supported across all other countries, people turn out to meet him at airports, wave his flag, wear his T-shirt from Brazil to China, even to some extent in Japan. A few years ago I was following the Shanghai Masters - and there were tweets as the players arrived at the airport - pictures of famous players at the airport carrying their luggage, being met by the tournament director, with no one else in sight playing the slightest bit of attention. But the tweet of Djokovic's arrival showed huge crowds lining up the exit from the Customs zone, posters, placcards and flags everywhere, smiling faces pushing their notebooks and tennis balls in hope of an autograph! And that's where I realised that the antipathy towards Djokovic is reserved for him exclusively in UK, US, EU, Australia, i.e. the English speaking world. The antipathy, even hatred, are deliberate policies of these countries - WHY? I'm ashamed of the behaviour of Wimbledon crowds, they never used to behave like that.
    The media keep telling us that Djokovic is "unloved", and that he craves that more than anything. What utter rubbish! I don't think I've ever seen a player more loved than Djokovic - when he won Wimbledon this year, he flew to Serbia, and huge crowds came out for him, at the airport, in Belgrade main square, they cheered and partied with him for hours and hours. He's the only player who receives the same kind of love that the English Football team received when they won the World Cup in 1966! He is more loved than any other player!
    Yes, he likes it, of course he does, but he's actually quite a private person, I expect he would be embarrassed if us Brits came out flag-waving for him at Heathrow next time he plays Wimbledon - after the treatment he's had from British press, he would know it wasn't genuine.

Over the years I have watched a lot of his matches and when you really focus on his personality and his actions holistically, he is so likeable and authentic. He has become among my favourite players to watch and also one of my favourite tennis personalities off the court. People give him a hard time for things like breaking racquets. But literally, everyone except Rafa has this issue. And as someone who is very patient in my temperament, and has played tennis for over 20 years, I can't fault him for being passionate out there and occasionally breaking a racquet. Nadal is my favorite but I have a ton of respect for Djoker and think he’ll probably end up with the most slams.

    Man I started watching you since 2007 back home in South Africa and since then I liked you until now, You share the same history as many of us from Africa coming from middle class families and without the Western PR like FEDAL! Today in September 2023 you are Number 1 in Ranking and 24 GS and the highest winner including (2 Golden)in Masters
