  • So I built a pwnagotchi into a iPhone 13 case. Using a raspberry pi zero w 2 a 2.13" e ink screen a battery and powerbank board. It was a real challenge to know if it would even fit in the case and would work electrically but somehow I manged to pull it off. More details can be found at the blog post below.

Your design is my favorite form factor so far for pure stealth mode. Nicely done!

Thank you, yeah that's what I was going for

The iPhone 11 is the last with the rounded case, the 12 introduced the square edge, but have you ever considered getting one of those models of the 13 that apple sends to case manufacturers, it’s a plastic 1:1 of the model of phone, maybe grab a model of that and build in one of those?, grab the model and hollow out the innards and map everything out, also! That magnetic ring is super useful, maybe add a magnetic wireless charger receiver to that and then have wireless charging

Ah I wasn't sure which one first did the square edges. Yeah I did think about the magsafe charging but space is super tight, maybe for rev B

Genius, putting this in a cellphone case, I’d probably give this a shot but soldering is not one of my strong suits at the moment unfortunately.

For OTG to work, you have to have the OTG sense grounded, use an OTG cable OR you can ground the OTG test pad on the Pi Zero for permanent OTG

So I worked out the OTG situation, it turns out it was the 2.5.4 version of pwnagotchi touch I was using was really unstable, moved to 2.8.4 and it works like a charm. I've updated my blog with a OTG section now with more details.

Could you possibly list the parts for your original build?

It was a basically a standard pwnagotchi with a homebrewed pi sugar that I built for myself. I haven't released the files for it.

This is really well done, congratulations and thank you for sharing it! The thought never really crossed my mind of using this form factor (mobile phone) as a case for the Pi Zero and it really is genius. I think this idea would lend itself really well to a LoRa/Meshtastic device as well. Did you consider mounting the Pi Zero along an edge for direct access to the USB ports, or was the consideration made to fit within the actual iPhone case?

Thanks, yeah I was the same, why hadn't I thought about this earlier lol. It's quite a tight fit to keep it all within a reasonable aspect of the case so not sure if it would fit in a vertical orientation.
