- Upon exiting the elevator, the player can kill Kent before talking to Sinjin. Sinjin and his guys will all gasp and someone will yell "He's crazier than Sinjin!" This will trigger unique dialogue as Sinjin looks at you in shock and horror. One of the dialogue options is "I'm going to kill all of you!" while your character sounds super happy and cheerful. Wearing Shroud's costume will allow another unique in-character dialogue where the player can turn Sinjin's gang to their side. There’s no special dialogue when talking to Hancock after that.

I mean that's *literally* the Soviet method to dealing with hostage situations. The Russians once gassed a movie theatre full of hostages.
@@obtuse186 They tried to talk the terrorists down first and even offered them a chance to leave to any other country unharmed if they gave up the hostages. They only pumped it full of anesthetic gas to knock out the Chechen terrorists after the terrorists began executing hostages.
Some of the hostages died because of preexisting conditions which were complicated by the anesthesia, and a number of others were shot by the terrorists, but about 770 of 900 hostages survived. Spetsnaz suffered a handful of casualties. 40 to 50 terrorists were killed.
That’s not great, but it’s far better than the Beslan school siege where Spetsnaz tried to fight its way in. That resulted in twice as many deaths and many more wounded.
Western police and military forces have never dealt with similar hostage situations, with dozens of terrorists and hundreds of hostages.
In the Iranian Embassy crisis for example, there were just 6 hostage takers and just 26 hostages. The biggest hostage crisis the USA ever dealt with was the 1991 Sacramento Hostage Crisis, in which 41 hostages were taken by 4 terrorists, and despite the small scale of this situation, that resulted in several hostages dying and 14 casualties overall.
It’s a lot easier to control a small firefight against 4-6 terrorists than an entire urban battle against 50 (among them experienced veteran soldiers). It’s easy to mock the Russian Spetsnaz response and the many civilian casualties or to make up stories like them executing the hostages intentionally, but it’s far from clear what Western forces would have done differently and if it would have been any better.

It never once crossed my mind to take the Spetsnaz option... but yeah, that would be terrifying to see from the bad guy's POV. Imagine thinking you've got the perfect scheme to defeat this supposed comic book "hero" only to find out you had it completely wrong.

In my opinion, the quest is even better if you've actually listened to the old radio shows. My grandpa once gave me some of his tapes of shows from the 1930s mostly the Shadow and Superman, but there were others in the collection too. Listening to this makes me think of some of the old quotes I heard.

i know it's been 7 years but boy i need video ipload of recordings.. in the phillipines and rural areas of my ancestral province radio plays are still on going with actual actors acting on the radio... hearing it while having some good night sleep at night was ecstatic...I missed it as since my grandpa plays it with the local small radio

+Benthe Shark Actually you don't. After you deal with Sinjin, the next objective is to talk to Hancock. If Hancock is not in your party, it will direct you to his quarters in Goodneighbour. Kent will also be there, and the cutscene between Kent and Hancock will then take place :)

i did that to test it once and fucking lost it when my character started speaking with crazy in her eyes after fucking murdering the guy she was supposed to save lmao

I had to use a syringer and shitloads of jet to save the guy
i used a good old missile launcher and stealth boy
nvm i used alien blaster, missile launher failed
I used rank 7 charisma and quick saving....
Shroud: "Anybody else wanna negotiate?"
Sinjin: "W-w-w-w-where did he learn to negotiate like that?"
Preston: "I wonder.... Oh by the way, there's a settlement that needs your help. I'll mark it on your map."

Well, I wasn't expecting that. While ruthless, it's one way to go if you want your enemies to fear you; though you miss out on the Shroud upgrade, not to mention I'm certain Hancock would be pissed, there or not.
Been meaning to ask you about Kim Fluffy; I'll try to make this the last thing about this character, as I know you didn't record her like Jennifer; but do you remember the preset used when making her?

i never knew sinjin wanted to talk to you, when i did this quest and got up the elevator, they were already hostile and once i killed them all, i found kent's body and forgot i was supposed to save him. How in the world do you save Kent when there's so many enemies and he's so weak? I read that you can tell Sinjin to attack u first but idk how well that works. probably depends on your stats and weapons. How fast you can kill everyone lol thx for a great upload as always
It's an charisma option, they completely ignore Kent and try to kill you.
Something similar happened to me except that i killed everyone so fast that Kent survived and i could even talk to him afterwards but he never returned to Goodneighbor so i thought that he didn't return but after i saw some videos and that he is supposed to return and that you needed to speak with sinjin.
Pretty weird bug.
Step 1: Psycho Jet
Step 2 : Use an OP weapon like kellog's pistol or Danse's laser rifle
Step 3: Murder everyone quickly
Step 4: Go to the nearby settlement and kill the ghouls that are causing trouble.

+XxXPhaSeIlLuMiNaTiXxX W Fetus Slayer 666 Isn't it a certain way you're supposed to talk with Kent? When I spoke with him he returned to continue his duty as the Shroud's assistant. But in MaTN dialog, it gave him less hope to continue doing "good" and he never returned to his one spot in Goodneighbor. Whether or not he didn't show up at all is another question.
Imagine being the guy that takes a hostage just to stand a chance against a powerful opponent and said opponent just fucking shoots them without a second thought.
Gotta admit, I wouldn't have thought of that.

When I did this quest, I got scared when I saw sinjin and those raiders and I started shooting but didn't realize they would kill Kent :(

I remember the first time I did this quest. The scripts were glitched, so whenever I stepped forward, they immediately shot poor Kent. I eventually got fed up with their bullshit and went into console to set Kent's HP to some high number.
God it pains me to see how little effort they put into dialogue, every single conversation is the same structure: You speak, they might say one line that is relevant to what you said, then they say the same thing they say no matter what you say. EVERY SINGLE CONVERSATION.

Trying to save Kent was an absolute nightmare for me...probably didn't help that I was under leveled and had crap weapons XD
