My heart goes out to the poor girl, watching her father getting violently arrested for free speech in a police station lobby - she must have been traumatized, being left there, alone and confused - way to earn the trust and respect of the younger generation. Make sure that she gets her day in front of a judge, because she deserves compensation for being left in fear and alone, in a room full of hostile and irrational public servants.

Possibly but the sad reality of humans is that power corrupts the mind. This sort of corruption innately can not handle being challenged, they feel an overwhelming need to exercise the power lest the challenge escalates.
I have no idea if there is any police dept that trains people to not allow themselves to fall in to this power trap but in my view this sort of training should be conducted in every PD. And please don't mistake this for me making excuses for inexcusable behavior, I'm not. It is just that I have long thought about this problem and what to do about it.

Ohio Constitution Article 1, Section 4 states, "The people have the right to bear arms for their defense and security; but standing armies, in time of peace, are dangerous to liberty, and shall not be kept up; and the military shall be in strict subordination to the civil power." Being that there is a time of peace in OK and "cop" is dangerous to liberty, seems OK'ians have unfettered power over the illegal gangs, I mean armies, ahem, I mean "cops" for that matter.

      To the Sheriff:
"Define what is a lawful order."
Sheriff rambles off like he did in the article
"So any command given is a lawful order?"
      Sheriff replies affirmatively.
"So if an officer unzipped his pants and gave an order to pleasure him, would that be a lawful order?"
      Sheriff - "Don't be ridiculous!"
"But you just said any command. Are you now saying that some commands are not lawful?"

That cop went from zero to a million in 1 second flat. It seems too tame to say they don’t have the disposition to be a cop, they don’t have the disposition to live among people or animals. This was retaliation for a citizen daring to point out that they were not acting in a professional manner, and they needed to treat every citizen with dignity and respect, no matter what circumstances they meet in; something I'm sure their policy requires, yet they don't put into practice! They wonder why they are not respected, trusted or even liked. You can't go around abusing your authority, breaking the laws you arrest others for breaking, and assault citizens for telling you that you need to treat people better, then arrest them, and expect to be respected! That deputy clearly has anger management issues! He should not have access to any weapons! He's a clear danger to the community and needs his badge taken away, permanently! He also needs to go to jail, and experience having to strip naked and be searched for drugs, to see what he put innocent people through. For the other deputies not to pull him away and stop the assault, is criminal in and of itself. If a citizen did that in front of them, they would certainly step in and arrest the person assaulting someone for telling him to be nice! Somehow, I don't see him getting the justice he deserves!

It is fairly obvious that this man is a decent man by his own actions. He reads the room by moving his daughter out of possible harms way & remains in front of her & observing the actions of these cops. I do not see from his actions in this video any signs of aggression or anything else & simply saying what he did it appears that the actions of the cops involved & their verbal words must have been to such a level of agregiousness for him to speak up. I would only hope that someone witnessing this would apeak up on my behalf if I were in such a situation. I doubt that this man would have spoken up had he in any way had he not perceived the cops actions to be abusive considering he had his young daughter with him. Seems pretty clear cut that these cops did not care about their own actions/words & are so used to behaving in this manner that they just bully anyone else who might question their actions. I would fight all the way on this because this was agregious in my mind.

Winning a lawsuit or settlement is not justice. Justice is “the quality of being fair and reasonable.” Fair.
Equal. When a person grabs up a citizen and injures them for no reason the attacker is arrested and often put in prison (especially when the person they’re hitting is a cop).
So justice would be the cop going to prison. The system we have created is Bullshit and can not give victims justice (when the offender is an officer).

I live in Sallisaw, Ok. We're in Sequoyah Co and I've got a story for you! My 80yr old dad was arrested because the deputy that had to come out was pissed he had to drive to my dads house over his bull that got out. Mind you his bull wasn't in the road or a danger to anyone. Just looking for a girlfriend and some hay. Dad lives in the country in the same house about 40+ yrs now. It was in the middle of our summer probably around 95-100 degrees so it was very hot. In the mean time my dad had realized his bull was gone and tracked him down. He led him back home and was fixing the fence down in the pasture is why he didn't answer the phone! Needless to say he was hot and tired by the time he finished with the bull and the fence. The deputy shows up, and starts beating the door down. When dad answers he just starts chewed him out then ended it with "you know what, since I had to come all the way out here I think I'll just take you in!" My dad has severe arthritis in his hands and he hurt him by yanking him around because he was mad. Then he left him standing and handcuffed to a bar while they all sat around eating pizza. My dad was serving our country before those a$$holes were even born. Talk about pi$$ed off! My daughter and I called, emailed and went by the court house numerous times trying to talk to the Sheriff Larry Lane, but he refused to see us. Come to find out the neighbor that called the police is his good buddy. My dads bull has since disappeared! There's more details, but you guys get the picture. Sequoyah Co has that good ol boy system down pat... hate it! Absolutely hate it!

Much less for telling you to be nice when you're being malicious and condescending towards a complete stranger. All of those ignorant cops should be fired or jailed They watched a crime occur while in their official capacity and did nothing about it 😢

Wouldn't it be nice to see accountability with officers like this, I am so tired of the system in general that allows and protects this kind of behavior from police. The thin blue line is a government sanctioned dangerous gang with almost no accountability.
    - No repercussions for unlawful arrests, for assault’s or crimes on citizens, years for investigations and often paid leave, promotions while they are being investigated after they commit their crimes! They have the thin blue line to investigate their crimes, police unions to protect them and pay for their lawyers. And even if they are found guilty there is usually no punishment and the tax payers pay the fines or settlements!

Dont forget the judge. If he or she agrees with this arrest she/he needs to find new job.

Disgusting behavior, right in front of his daughter! If this officer has daughters.. show them how great their father is.

Despicable behavior. The daughter must have been traumatized to witness the brutality inflicted on her dad. They had no concern for that child's safety and well-being.

They never let a child's well-being come before an opportunity to satisfy their lust for control and violence.

@deputyrock3489 So true. The brutality is rampant. Out of control with no accountability.

I felt so sorry for the daughter to have to witness such brutality on her dad for something so minor by those who suppose to protect us and have to pay taxes to pay their salaries to brutalize the public. We let them get away with it on others saying they deserve it but the more power you give them the more they want because they don’t care who you are now because the president has been set because we allowed them to police their selves.

That public employee should be held accountable to the same laws we are held accountable too. Abolish qualified immunity for all public employees involved.

Ruining one life at a time. At least his daughter got a valuable life lesson that police are not your friends. You HAVE to follow up on this.
