    It would be good to have more chair exercises for seniors that have difficulty walking. Some to help muscles that would build muscles for knees that are shot .

      Thanks, Jackie! I really appreciate that suggestion! I have some videos lined up for release that are standing, but I will work on getting more chair videos out! Thank you, again!

    This is really fantastic- thank you! 'The Senior Centered PT' as a name is a touch misleading:) - some of these exercises can be quite challenging at any age (especially if you avoid isolating muscles that have strength/endurance deficiencies)

      Thank you so much for you feedback! And I understand that some exercises can be challenging and I highly encourage seniors to challenge themselves in order to combat the natural impact aging has on our muscles and strength. If all the exercises can’t be done, that’s totally fine! Just do what you can!

    Thanks, dear Dr Katie. Very helpful exercises. I'll do them daily. The only thing is that those exercises on a fitball are rather difficult to do, to my mind.

    • @TheSeniorCenteredPT
      @TheSeniorCenteredPT  Před 2 lety +1

      You're so welcome! Feel free to do them without the fitball. If you want to make the fitball a goal, great! If not, don't worry about it.

      Dr Katie, I just recently found your channel, I like it very much, but a few of your videos are not in sync. I don’t know if you can go back and edit them. I believe if you can delete the part with the muscle diagram, everything will line up. I have listened to you voice without viewing, then I go back and watch and take out the voice. I do feel I’m missing something tho. But anyway just wanted to make you aware in case you’re not aware. I’m not a senior yet, but find I get stiff from inactivity, so you’re a big help for me. Thanks

      @@123hatheway Thank you so much! I was not aware of this. For some reason when I watch the video in the editing program it lines up but then once posted it doesn't. I will make sure I go back and re-watch the videos and edit. Thank you again!

    No subscribe button? Some seniors like me cannot get down & back up anymore. Floor exercises would have to be done on the bed.

    • @joannewsome5202
      @joannewsome5202 Před rokem

      Also, if you’re old & have bad knees, you can’t do squats. I think your exercises are meant for middleagers

    • @TheSeniorCenteredPT

      There should be a subscribe button on my channel, I apologize if it wasn’t linked on the video.
      Yes, so working with your therapist to get down to and up from the floor is really important in case of a fall. I would recommend you speak with your PT to practice exercises to build your strength to do so.
      Yes, each of us have different needs and capabilities with our bodies. Knee pain may prevent some activities, however a squat is a functional movement we do daily (getting down to and up from the toilet, on and off a chair, etc) so being able to strengthen the muscles around the legs so we can do these movements is important. If squats don’t feel good on the knees, there are other strengthening exercises to do that can achieve increased leg strength.

      @@TheSeniorCenteredPT thanks for answering & all the info. I don’t have a PT & never thought of sitting down & getting up from a seat as a squat. So, I can do those.
      Thanks

    I can lay on side and lift left leg but I cannot lay and lift right leg at all.

    • @TheSeniorCenteredPT
      @TheSeniorCenteredPT  Před 2 lety

      That is okay! If you can’t lay on one side you can do the standing version, which may make it a little easier
