    Man. I know the feeling of watching your fish on the ground, flailing. It's a horrible feeling. Movers dumped my 30 tall out into my yard which had 3 cori doras, 4 golden barbs, 1 clown loach (all over 4 years old), and many (generationss of) snails thriving, peacefully, inside.
    I swung by after work and went into the house. As I was walking through the now empty place I once laid my head- I realized the tank was gone. It was supposed to be the last to go, and I was going to transfer my fish and move it.
    I felt instant panic, and went out the front door, looking anywhere I hadn't, for my tank. There it was on the ground, in my front yard, with about 2 inches of murky ass water and all my substrate everywhere...all the live plants were uprooted and in disarray. I kept saying, "where are my fish?!" over and over. I got on my knees to look for them in the last bit of water in the tank and saw one cori, and that was it. The clown loach, and 2 cori as well as the other 3 golden barbs was on the ground, nearly dead. I was livid, and crying. I was so fucking mad. All but 4 of the fish died. I hate thinking about how I wasn't even going to go by there, but I had a terrible feeling that something careless could happen to our things with the movers. I also hate that I was right.

      Sadly if you were being evicted they don’t give a sht most the time, but if you paid those movers and they didn’t listen (shouldn’t even have to tell someone to leave a fishtank alone with water still in it) then you should really try to take this to court or something. If that’s too much than just spam their business page with fake reviews 😂😂😂

      The fact they picked up a full aquarium and carried it without fear of it bursting in their hands due to the weight shift and the frame no longer having equal support is proof enough they were unqualified to move an aquarium. I had one that my son used for a snake inclosure and then I gave it to a friend and she used it for about 6 months and she noticed the seal started leaking and luckily she seen and removed the fish and got a new tank. I think the heat from my sons heat lamp weakened the seal. But that’s just my guess.

    It could've been three things, it was an old reptile tank and the heat lamp from the previous owner wore out the silicone/glue, 2. The tank had heavy decor rocks / heavy peice of wood thats soaked up the water, or simply to much decoration, 3. the tank already had a crack, and the pressure from the water simply busted it, 4. Your fish usually die before this step, but heat could've been too high or introduced way to fast, and expanded the glass which caused it to break! Idk what do you guys think caused it?

      You can buy used aquariums, but if you don’t know EXACTLY what was in it and the temp it was stored at. (Most important as you won’t see signs like chewing, and it’ll be too late by the time you know.) You need to reseal it. It’s pretty easy to reseal.

    Acrylic tank? They are known to explode after they are "miss handled", ie direct sun light, construction of stand, twisting of tank, over-heated when dry, etc. Also "wavey" tanks, are well known that, they can't be built to take stresses of water pressure. ( from a couple of clients that I now have) From years of experience, glass aquariums will start with a slow leak...never have one exploding, giving you time to save your fish and saving you from the insurance claim.

    If you have a bigger tank make sure it’s leveled and try to switch it out after around 7 years, because the softeners in the silicone will decay and the silicone will become porous, which leads to leaking or even bursting.

      For me it was my own fault. My 200L tank (52 gallon) chipped a little in the bottom right corner while moving houses. I had it inspected by a local aquarium seller/builder and he said he was 99.9% sure it would be just fine and that he'd seen way worse cases last for decades.
      Well, four months later while I'm watching Avengers End Game with my friend we both hear a "TICK", like a small pebble thrown at a window. But from inside the room. I immediately think "oh shit, the tank" and just moments later I see a crack just spreading along the side panel, water oozing through it. Safe to say that movie night turned into a night of madly rushing 10l buckets of water to the bathroom while also putting out towels, blankets and paper to stop the water from ruining everything. We drained the tank in about 15 minutes and saved everything except my living room rug. The poor fish didn't survive in the bucket over night either... That was my last tank. Never again.

I stopped and actually paid attention for a moment and noticed the glass walls were bowed way out. Lol, I went into emergency bailout mode and managed to get the level down in time but it was close. This is why I pay extra and get an acrylic tank. They are more expensive in the 200 and lower sizes, and yes they can crack, but rarely burst like this. They are also much more resistant to instant cracking/failure than glass and have less points of failure from less silicone seams. Factor in their better clarity and lighter weight on top of that. Regardless if glass or acrylic, make sure it's level.

    • @gpaje
      @gpaje Před 6 měsíci

      @@sejalmahajan7177 That the bottom of the glass is level with the floor, most people when setting up a new tank will put a level gauge on the bottom of the tank and make sure it's level (left to right and front to back), usually by shimming the stand. Never shim the tank frame to the stand itself. If not leveled well, the bottom of the tank will experience uneven stress and eventually crack over time, especially larger glass tanks.

Any set up I have had I used a ceiling tile underneath even if it's a bonafide tank stand as it will even out the weight and avoid cracking with any micro imperfections under such weight. At 8.5 lbs per gallon the weight adds up quick. hope your dog is ok.
