    "The manager from Kaientai", former wrestling photographer Wally Yamaguchi, unfortunately died a couple of years ago. His brother is Shun, living in the Boston area and performs Japanese commentary for WWE with former Kaientai member Funaki. Wally's son, Hashinosuke, is a wrestler in Tokyo. "What happened to every athlete who came from another sport and got involved in professional wrestling?" could be interesting...
    As I'm not paid to research anything I've admittedly got no sodding clue how many that would be so might need certain restrictions on it (such as from a particular decade as a starting point) but would definitely be a pretty unique list, as far as I'm aware?
    (And obviously count it from athletes who done their respective sports professionally as amateur/college level would be an insane number to try whittle down...)

  • @Aevilbeast
    @Aevilbeast Před 2 lety +1

    It's not too surprising that the Giant Khali is running a wrestling school...as the old saying goes "Those who can, do and those who can't...teach!". LOL!
    Seriously though he probably has way more experience and knowledge to impart about professional wrestling than any body else teaching in India. As it wrestling schools aren''t exactly common there and there's very few people that have actual experience being a world champion and in the main event scene for the biggest promotion in the world in India right now.
    Plus, just because he "runs" a school doesn't necessarily mean that he's actually directly teaching people, he might just be the owner and/or figurehead, and as long as he has decent teachers that actually know what they're doing than it's probably fine. Personally, I think it's pretty cool that he's trying to make becoming a professional wrestler more accessible to people from his country, that is as long as he's doing it for the right reasons, and it's not just a cash-grab scam deal (like unfortunately what some wrestling schools run by famous wrestlers are). The more cultural, social, geographical, etc. representation in wrestling, the better IMO!

      @Somnogenesis Před 2 lety +1

      Yes it almost went beyond cringeworthy into the realms of "Wow, that's actually genuinely impressive" levels of out-of-touchness.
      I mean, if they'd requested someone like Batista, say, it would have just made you wince at the ignorance of someone who didn't know he'd pushed off to Hollywood for good a handful of years earlier. Or even Flair, had they been somehow unaware he'd been officially retired (from a WWE ring, at least) for a decade. But to allegedly ask for the appearance of someone who'd not only last wrestled for WWF/E in 1996 but who'd _been dead for 18 years_ was really something else altogether...
