Nice to meet someone as directionally challenged as I am!…I was on a trip and the GPS said that I had arrived at my destination and I couldn’t see it …and didn’t that GPS say to me after about 10 seconds in an exasperated voice “It’s on your right!!!” and lo and behold.. there it was!😂😂😂
Bahaha! So funny because I often feel like the GPS voice is annoyed by me!

Good Marketplace tips! Also, we have an officer friend that encouraged our kid (who uses it often), that a police station is a great place to utilize for it. It definitely made us feel better! 😊
Now that is a great place to meet up to do the deal!
I was raised on road maps and still prefer them. A little story. Living in Ca, my mom used to take my 2 siblings 9, 6 and I being 4 yrs old, out on road trips around the city in the afternoons somedays and at night others. The front passengers job was to learn common landmarks to the destinations and back. After learning the route(s), then she would make us give her directions to get to the destination of her choice. Though back in the 60's-70's things were more simpler to distinguish which McDonalds or mall you wanted to get to. I think more parents should do this with young kids of 4 yrs old and up.
Oh that's a great idea! Ashlyn, our oldest, is like Kevin, and can remember any place she's ever been to! I give her the task of remembering where our car is parked when we go into stores because my brain rarely remembers!

Yes!! You can reuse your granite if it's the exact same layout!! We did it when we had a flood in our kitchen. 11,000 gallons of water leaked from the fridge water line behind the cabinets for atleast a week between us closing on our house and actually getting here from across the country 💔 we had to replace all of the lower cabinets, drywall, subfloor, flooring and trim. It was heartbreaking because we had solid oak cabinets and they were beautiful before they absorbed all tons of water 😭
I love the shelves. Leave them white and put stickers/pictures of what is in the drawers. What a cute shelving unit!

Alecia, when I went to unfamiliar places (out of town for work) I printed maps and even that is challenging as you can't really read the map while you're driving. I remember once working in Pennsylvania and I saw a sign that said Wilmington so I had to call my husband and ask, isn't that in Delaware?! Ha ha I made a wrong turn and being from Texas it felt so strange to have driven to another state in just an afternoon! Enjoyed watching you girl. Thanks.

Great riding with you, I’m not a big fan of Facebook marketplace because some people I know got ripped off!
I learned to read a map when I learned to drive. My dad got a map out and told me that even number roads go east and west, odd number roads go north and south when it comes to major highways. He pointed to the map and said."This is where we are, and this is where I want to go. Now get me there. He drove, and I had to give him the directions. I got him there!! I've never forgotten the lesson and now I never get lost!
Here's a trick for sticky drawers. Take wax paper and rub the drawer slides/rails with it. The wax on the wax paper makes them nice and slick, and they don't stick!!!
We used road maps!!! My dad was a trucker so we knew how to read them well.

I ALWAYS investigate people before going to pick something up AND when people purchase from me. I’m not afraid for people to come to our house, or going to theirs, after doing my investigations. Also, you can always turn around if you don’t like the area and change your mind.
MOST of the time, my husband will go with me too, but I have gone by myself LOCALLY within miles from our house.

Great job filming and thanks for the very helpful suggestions on buying on Facebook marketplace. We had to move into our new home before it was complete--washer, dryer and kitchen stove sat in the middle of the living room floor until the kitchen floor was put down. It was a pain, but we got thru it just fine. Never regretted our decision.

Go to the Orange Store and have them work up the whole kitchen , tops and bottoms ....Go for the whole redo it's a great place to just do half ...Just my thoughts ...And also I think Homies has a better quality products ...JS...!!!

I just commented to someone that I can not recall a time I had three hours of uninterrupted time with my thoughts! My kiddos talk to me all day, every day, so I rarely have even a few minutes to myself! Ha! Bob definitely sounded different in this video!

Maps are great. I have the maps that my family used when I was a kid. All the places we went in Alaska. We also saved the new maps we bought for all the new place my family went on.
We also took our kids on trips that my parents took my siblings & I went on. So mush fun reminiscing with our kids.
That's so cool! I wish I had some of my Grandpa's old maps!
@38:11 - Hi Alecia/Kevin! Two things, yes you can remove the granite countertop and reinstall on new cabinets. Second, if you want to move the sink, you can remove just the part with the sink and replace and recut the piece. The granite looks similar to what we have in stock of our showroom (yes, I work in the granite countertop business...as a paralegal/computer support, but I also work with customers about granite countertops) and this should be able to be matched. And third (being an "Alecia" here) if the window bugs y'all so much it might be easier and cheaper to just measure a new window that's about 3-4 inches wider, and then only cut one side bigger and install the new window centered. I agree with Kevin that the cabinets are centered in the counter and the window is the problem. Message me if you want more info on what my opinions on this are.

If you are still doing price comparison for the kitchen, I would HIGHLY suggest Ikea. We saved SOOOO much money when we did our kitchen and 3 baths!
Has it held up? I've never liked at their kitchen cabinets. It's it all real wood? Or kiddos are rough and destroyed the manufactured/laminate wood in the RV.
@@PavingNewPaths It held up for years, with 2 kids- we did the solid wood option not the veneer. We did this 10 years or more ago and held up until we sold the house 2 yrs ago- full time RV living now. That said the quality back then was much better than now- but I would go check out their show room. We had a quote from the "orange store" for over 20,000 (for just the kitchen- and we spent around 8,000 and did it our selves (this was just the kitchen, laundry room, and formal dinning room hutch area). I was VERY happy with it.

Do the bottoms too. Just get it all the way you want it and you will love it for years with no regrets
You can center the sink, unfortunately the granite will probably need to be changed but you can then modify the cabinets the way you want and you wouldn't have to chose the color of cabinets to match the granite you can get the color you want.
Always get more than one quote on a job like that. I'd definitely get a quote from HD. I actually prefer HD, personally.

I almost bought a boat from marketplace, when I got to the house the description was way out of line with the sellers description. The upholstery was wrecked and there was no idea what condition the outboard was in.
We have never bought anything big off of marketplace but we have bought and sold several smaller items!

I lived in my home with four kids while remodeling and building on and it was alot more work than what your doing so it can be done it will just be more stressful and time consuming

It was all super light weight! I had the quilts to use as protection, if needed, but they were so light, I didn't need them.

Please be careful buying used from marketplace. So many homes have bedbugs these days. Those critters hide in the seems of furniture and in clothes. I won't even go into a thrift shop anymore.
Also we used paper maps. I had a milk crate in my car with a map book for each county when I sold real estate.

Try to find a local cabinet company ILO the big box stores for cabintes. No offense to anyone personally but they are not professional cabinet designers and there prices aren't any better than a local dealer (in most comparisons).

ok. i am skilled in one area: stupid questions. from your videos, i see the new house as having every part (except one) of what we call a "garage" in the northeast. the one thing that your "garage" doesn't have is a door. so i'm guessing what you have is more like a "car port" or is it "carport"? but, unlike other carports (car ports?) that i've seen, yours has everything solid: walls, roof.
why don't you just put a door on the carport and keep your equipment and such in there? garage doors can have locks....?
it would be extremely handy to have that additional space for "transient" storage, especially during a renovation.
if you are making changes which will require you to move or change (or both) the opening for your sink, AND you already said in an earlier video that you intend to cut the granite over by the stove, i don't think it make sense financially to try to keep the granite. in order to make the cuts properly, i believe that you need a machine that can't be transported. that means you would have to transport the granite to the machine and then transport it back to the house. and that would be pricey. i could be wrong, but that is my thinking.
Just wait and see things have changed quite a bit! Most of those changes are happening on the new channel as to where everthing is going! We will eventually put a garage door on the garage but like everything else with a house built in the 60's it's not cut and dry!
@@PavingNewPaths up here in new england, a house built in the 1700's is "old", ha ha! but our house was built in the 60's as well. and, yep, whenever we look at something and wonder "why did they do it that way?", there is always some underlying reason that makes fixing or changing it a big problem. i can't wait to see what is coming! :D
