This would unironically be an awesome video
A prison FC special
Would this be ranked on footballing talent or how outrageously they are off the pitch
Gotta start with the Panama Papers and go from there
One of my greatest sadnesses with football is we never got to see Neymar reach the level he was truly capable of. He had amazing and productive seasons at both Barca and PSG but I feel he could’ve pushed on even further and become the unquestioned best player in the world once Ronaldo and Messi started to taper off (by their standards) into their mid thirties, and won multiple Ballon D’ors.
I agree with you. I think people will begin to fully appreciate Neymar only after he retires, unfortunately. Even with injury issues, he’s still one of the all-time greats. Just the Brazil goal-scoring record from mostly LW speaks for itself.
Up until 2015 he had the world at his feet. I'd thought he'd explode into a season or two of Ronaldinho esque form but it wasn't to be.
There seem to be so many "nearly" players since 2000. Sadly, Neymar seems to be one of them (Hazard as well, but he was a level below)
@@TheMixCuratorhazard had multiple absolute banger seasons at Chelsea and won trophies there. No one thinks he’s an “almost” player. He just was bad after he left.
If only he had stayed at Barca, if he did I truly believe he could’ve done that.
@@TheMixCuratorhe peaked higher than dinho
I was going to be disappointed if Jeremy Corbyn somehow didn't get mentioned. Never change, Alfie
🤮
Oddly enough it's tone rather sympathetic if it's about Left Wingers, i'm not quite sure Alfie's as neutral as he claimed to be
@@royalroyal2210As a traditional liberal, I was a big fan of his for some time, but the political shift has become increasingly overt as time has went on. The general tone of absolutism, the smug self righteous parroting of the general talking points of the authoritarian left, the MSM style cherry picking and straw man arguments when characterising views and beliefs of so called "right wing" figures, the sense of hushed reverence when he casually inserts communist imagery like the old hammer & sickle. As seemingly a student of history, he must be aware of socialism's track record of human misery, and so unfortunately, he may fall into that deluded group of college indoctrinated, home grown marxists, who contend that every brutal, authoritarian state, "just didn't do it right...", it wasn't "true communism"...
@@wolfmauler i wouldn't go as far, but i would be keen to say Alfie's not as neutral as he claimed to be, especially with this video compared to the Right Wingers' one, where he made mockery of loony Right Wingers there, but almost none here, which i find so odd.
I also noticed especially his great disdain towards the Tory Cameron & Thatcher, but ever so few about the Labour Blair, which is strange since both Cameron and Blair are same bunch of d*ckheads
@@wolfmauler Um. If he's talking about old Soviet Teams (he has a bit) of course he'll feature a hammer and sickle. Alfie is using stock photos so he needs to add non footballing iconography into the video - this is how visual aides to story telling work. You understand visual storytelling in video essay form, right?
The rest of what you've written is a bingo list of a word salad, so its barely worth a reply.
Karl marx needs to be given a shout alfie
Haha what about Noam Chomsky and Bertrand Russell?
@@gerjerry99 oh yh true it is since 2000 but even them most of Chomsky's work is from before
Too few games post-2000.
Marx was a deadly striker in his day....
bernie sanders should be an honorable mention, he performed well and consistently in that god awful US politicians team
Ronaldo Vegas, Benzema 15, Ribery 15, Mane 16... truly one of the best top 7s ever
u r kinda dumb
Mane 14*
Messi 14

Since you mentioned Generation Foot, and I commented this on another video, could you consider making a video about the presence of private football academies in Africa, the impact they have, and can have, on youth development, and the potential negatives? In addition to the benefits to clubs like Metz, with Generation Foot, and Nordsjaelland with Right to Dream.
ooh yes please
Great idea!
this is actually one of the best ideas i’ve seen suggested
wait really haha@@uhhhhben
Sound like someone has an essay due lmao
Ranking every European Cup/Champions League winning captain on how good they were as players since 1955/56.
only 68 players then, lovely
@T.E.S.S. technically not, because only 67 finals have been played technically, and some captains have won more than once. I don't think even 50 captains have won.
oh well that makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE lmaooo @@haydonbunter7407
Idk about Hazard over Ribery.
El Shaarawy an honorable mention? He was a great prospect 10 years ago, I don’t think he ever fulfilled much of his potential. He has still been decent but idk if he is even in the conversation for some of the best of the last 20 years.
Aye, agreed. Genuinely thought El Shaaraway was going to be something special but it never quite happened for him.
he did say it was close between them
@@maciejbala477 I thought he said the top 3 were "on a class of their own", maybe he said they were close as well and I don't quite recall that (although it condratics the other sentence a bit).
Also just on that "class of their own" statement, was Hazard even a better dribbler than Ribery? I think it's very debatable.
@@willcomrie2853In my opinion Ribery>Hazard. More titles, better longevity, less injuries and overall a better career than Hazard.
what has more titles got to do with being a better winger? Please. riddle me this bc I'm tired of this nonsense@@pawelpawlowin95
hazard above ribery is a joke, considering he retired at 28...
32
@@T.E.S.S. call it a semiretirement at 28...
And yet they played a very similar number of games in all competitions...
I agree with Ribery over Hazard. But comparison Should be based on number of games more than years imo. Cus we all know there are certain players like Jude for example who play hella number of games early on. Most of these players can burn down even before 30s. Michael Owen another one.
@@langletprolet8378 With games, Ribery probably didn't play as many games as Hazard at the highest level, competing for the biggest trophies. Hazard, at Lille and Chelsea, aka when he was good and competing at the highest level, he played 548 games, whilst Ribery, at Bayern and Marseille, played 515 games.
Your videos are always the most interesting videos on CZcams
I think Alexis Sanchez should have at least gotten a honorable mention, the guy was arguably the best player in the prem for 2 or 3 seasons.
iirc he fixtured in top 7 RW
Ribery should be higher than hazard in my opinion.
He was more consistent and had greater longevity than hazard. Atleast at club level..
Great how Son has been mentioned, as I think he’s totally underrated. Also, I think there should be a video on 7 most ethical footballers since the 2000s 😂
You're making the best content on The Old World so far keep it up
Excellent List Alfie
Great video 🤙🏾💯
I'm actually very excited here cos I wanted to settle an argument, which picked Son over Mane. Son, I think is vastly underrated.
Yes, my son ;-)
@@user-uk7kk6pj4t haha
son definitely over mane I mean look at what son is doing in the premier league compared to what mane did they're the same exact age.
@@aze4964 exactly. Son is technically better, and he knows how to score goals as well. Highly instinctive too
@@aze4964 Comparing Son to Mane in the PL is not a good way to argue for Son. Mane was easily and clearly better than Son. His prime was at least a level above Son’s.
Love the honorable mentions at the end. Great way to balance out the first several wingers.
My 7 before watching: Nedved, Son, Mane, Ribery, Hazard, Neymar, Ronaldo
After watching: Giggs doesn't deserve it for me, he isn't at his peak anymore but I respect his "longevity" and if that's over Nedved I am fine, but Mane should be ahead of him given his immense contribution to that incredible Liverpool team. As for Son, I absolutely agree with Alfie and him and Mane is a tosser I think. The only thing restricts him getting even higher is only trophies, his ability is probably ahead of Mane and on par with Ribery or Hazard. (They are better dribblers but Son shoots better). With one or two years of his current form than he absolutely overtakes Mane for me and everyone.
Hazard is a bit too high for me but otherwise I do respect it
@@michaelay4900 Giggs had 00-13 playing at the top level, Mane had maybe half that at the top level.
Nedved wasn't a left winger but a left midfielder
Did you watch Nedved? He was a left winger @@ahsenserhat9270
Gotta love Alfie's commitment to the Sevens brand by taking exactly 7 weeks to continue this series
I cannot agree with Hazard beeing over Ribery, no way. It's like you're saying that a few prime years of the belgian are worth more than a whole, very long and great career of the frenchman. At his peak, Hazard was better, but when it comes to the whole career there's no way I could justify Eden being higher
Eden started his career in 2007 and was great from then till 2019 that's a span of 12 years, longevity doesn't necessarily have to mean that a player maintains a level from 25 till they retire
was he really better than ribery 2012/13 at any point of his career?
@@ScheppundFries in 12/13, 11/12, and 18/19 I think he outperformed ribery's 12/13 campaign in those seasons in terms of g+a and as a footballer, although ribery won more trophies
@@KidneyJones nah I don't think so. Hazard was never good in Champions League, Ribery won the title as one of the main man, and had 25 g+a in 27 buli games in 2012/13.
Mention ribery's prime years please bc we're tired of this "hazard had a few prime years" just bc he cleared everyone when he was younger. Ribery didn't have a longer prime than hazard. stop dreaming. Just bc bro hit his prime in his late 20s doesn't mean he was always in his prime in his early 20s lol. He was just a regular player before age 27.
It would be cool if after you do the 11 positions if you do a best "utility men" or best players since 2000 that were ultra versatile and maybe difficult to fit into one role/position
Nah Alfie, I nearly died of laughter when you said Burger King during the Hazard segment, my brother and I have been calling him the Cheeseburger Man since he signed for Madrid!
I’m saying this as a Liverpool fan: Reus should be 7 instead of Mané. Mané has him beat in stats, but the intangibles and leadership Reus brings is unrivaled. Plus, Reus was already one of the best players in the world when Mané was still at FC Basel
You should do a follow up/update on bournemouth's situation. They've been on a rollercoaster these past few months and now have their first premier league player of the month and an incredible manager that could finally fill the massive Eddie Howe sized hole they've had these past few years. Would be a great watch.
derlei hulk and falcao deserve honourable mentions in the next video i believe
See once you've completed the series, it would be interesting to get a follow up considering which of the squads would be the best. Would it be an 11 of the ranked number 1 or would it be lower ranked players due to all the considerations.
Also this series is crying out to be one of those crazy multiple hour edits.
I can’t believe Alexis Sanchez isn’t on this list, just for his achievements with Chile alone
He was on another list! Not sure which, maybe attacking midfielder?
Played striker for Barca, played 10 at other points. Similar career to hazard, just didn’t have a locked in position
He was in the right wing list
Ronaldinho?
That Giggs segment was just pure comedy😂
Kingsley Coman is an interesting honorable mention selection considering he’s just now entered his prime in the past 3-4 years.
Coman is older than you think and was amazing in his younger years too
I love making my own list before each of these videos come out to see how close I get
I love the intro
i LOVEE the opening of this vid its funny asf
no honorable mention of marco reus? 🥲
Brilliant running gag of the controversial issues with the left wingers here, enjoyed it as per
You are the greatest left winger since 2000 in my heart.
dawww
Very clever bait with the thumbnail! CR7 anything other than first would have been insane.
Ronaldinho must have played basketball in the 00s
??
Good Luck for the forwards list. Its going to be absolute toss looking at the amount of worldclass forwards since the turn of the centuary. My fav R9 might not be in the list.
#thepeopleschannel a video on the Bangladesh premier league and the rise of Bashundhara kings would be good
A team who went into the top flight after promotion and won the last four league titles now!
Are they the next Newcastle? Are they a team to keep a eye on next few years? Thanks Alfie 😊
Lol no
This a great idea

Unless you have any suggestions
Why not suggest this
A new league for the viewers
Are you forgetting i suggested to Alfie about the Borussia Dortmund 1909 video and the Wimbledon Ireland video last year a little bit?
@@jennylithgow2993 of course, the next Newcastle perhaps no
They must have some money behind their story for their success
It’s a interesting story how they are becoming the Bayern Munich there 😅
Respect for not stopping this question
Can someone explain why Ronaldinho isn't on this list? Pretty sure his peak was on the left wing
There's a difference between being a left winger and starting from the left side.
he was in one of the other videos. attacking mid I think.
My wife was wondering why I was laughing so loud when Ribery was introduced. LOL!
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 593)
I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
He isn't kidding. This is a man with serious intent, a powerful drive, fantastic passion, unending motivation and sheer will. I hope you get that video
as I've said before, it would be a 3 minute video, with Alfie's 2 minute intro included.
Would like to see a tournament poll between a Prem 90s XI 00s XI 10s XI and the CL 90s XI 00 XI and 10s XI.

The Adu jokes never get old 😂
A "what on Earth" video on Sevilla seems fitting at this time.
Doku is coming guys. And Duranville.
Stephane El Shaarawy and Leroy Sane getting an Honorable Mentioned and Rashford not getting one is insane 🤣
Man United fan here, Marcus is dogshit
Not really
Rashford be serious
Alfie did Mane DIRTY 🤣🤣🤣
He was generous to include him
After hearing the honorable mentions, I can understand why HM Son featured. He beats most of those players, but I think 7 would've been more accurate and everyone below him gets bumped up a spot imo.
Video idea. The expansion of the WC and its impact.
El Shaarawy based on what? He had about one promising season for Milan but never got to reach the level of Sterling or Rashford because of injuries.
Surprised to see no mention of Insigne
"I'm getting the word.... N0nce!"
What is the name of the background music ???
I forget what year it was, but a PES game gave us a free LW Neymar when he was a 91 rated Barcelona player, that was dope as all heck.
He was such a great player for them back then.
I wonder if CR7, Messi and R9 could have all worked well in the same team in this modern era of high pressing football, or if it would have been similar to the PSG issue where too many stars needed to be carried to be the worlds best team?
The game has evolved for sure the era of R9 was different than the era of CR7 and Messi
But the thing is they adjusted to their respective era of football
and guess what they are once in a lifetime players so their adaptation skill comes into play
remember CR7 started out as a flashy wide midfielder who was just all about tricks and entertaining people but he adapted to the physicality of the prem and slowly became the best player in the world and when his speed and athleticism declined due to father time catching up he again adapted to the role of a pure 9 who was all about scoring goals
So the end argument is they would just adapt🤷
“I can not reiterate it enough”
😹😹😹😹😹
Is it just me that Ronaldinho is forgotten.
he was in the attacking midfielder list
At the very least Son is a very good person without contreversy to save the left wing position
Need you to do a whats going on video with Vålerenga. They got relegated last season after bottling a 2-0 lead in the playoffs, even worse is that they bottled it at their own homeground. First time they've been relegated for over 20 years.

@@T.E.S.S. you know, the strikers episode is going to be a toughy cos you have names like Mbappé, Ronaldo, Totti, Del Piero, Henry, Suarez, Lewandowski, etc.
@@EagleEyes77 is he not going to make a separate list for forwards as well as strikers?
@@hitthurdeaux He said he was going to add Totti to the strikers' list, so I'm certainly sure that he'd have supporting strikers like Bergkamp and Rooney in one confined list, ipso facto, the "Strikers".
14:34 was excellant comedic timing

video idea: what if philippines XI (David Alaba, Alphonse Areola etc)
This video already exists
didn't know that mane was allegedly dating a 16 yrs old, with his style of humbleness and friendliness. That fact definitely make me shocked🫠
No mention of Lorenzo Insigne who primarily played on the Left Wing for Napoli and Italy is a bit of a miss, especially since Insigne played much more for Italy than El Shaaraway.
I come for the football facts but I stay for the very British humor
I thought you would have snuck Nick Barmby in there, for sure!

How did coman made the honourable mentions but not insigne?
Right? Overlooking Insigne when including Mertens (who was actually a centre forward on the same team)...
