The Chaotic Football Club Owned By Crypto Bros

- In April 2022, Crawley Town was acquired by a group of 28 cryptocurrency investors through the prism of WAGMI United, who promised to take the team from League Two to the Premier League.
Within two weeks, Crawley's manager became embroiled in an enormous scandal which saw him banned for four years, the crypto and NFT markets crashed, and Crawley were almost relegated from the EFL.
In this video, HITC Sevens takes a look at the madness of Crawley Town over the last 18 months, the crypto and data-based business model their owners seek to implement, and what the future may hold for what is possibly the most chaotic club in the English Football League. - Sport
Having a manager get sacked for calling the players "curry munchers" is the most Crawley thing ever 😂
That shit got me bad, a surreal and hilarious statement at the same time. What was he thinking 😹

If you knew indian bros, they wouldn't mind
I really feel sorry for people who have such terrible owners. The main thing affecting Lincoln city is how the entire attacking part of the squad is suddenly injured for at least a few weeks, but the owners don't seem like we'll end up like Scunthorpe.
such a shame i remember the historic run in the fa cup in 16 17 season
Scunthorpe United will be dissolved by the end of year and Scunthorpe AFC will be playing in the same league as my local team next season. It's a scary and realistic proposal
Hey it’s a fellow Lincoln City fan!!!! Hey there!!!!!
Yeah I had a lovely “chat” online with a bitter clueless West Ham fan after the game who was blissfully unaware of our injuries and once he was informed was shocked at how well we did considering
novice yes. Terrible how? Results up, ticket ptices down and revenue up. Have a word with yourself
Maybe an unpopular request but I would love to see a video explaining the situation of my local club Levski Sofia, who were on the verge of bankruptcy several times in the past decade, had two failed takeovers by foreign millionares in just the past 3 years alone, have an unfinished stadium where not even the main stand has a roof, but managed to play in this year's Conference League playoff just losing to Eintracht Frankfurt
seconded
That sounds good to me, clarification: as a topic for a video…
And one of the potential takeovers was from the group that owns Southampton.
Also the club has rebuilt with some very good young players like Jose Cordoba and Adrian Kraev.
I am also a fan, so this would be a great watch for me :D
Criminals can't launder money if someone takesower.

You know everything's going well when Alfie makes a video about your club 🎉

Anything with "Crypto" linked to it will always fail or turn into some sort of scam.
As a pc gamer, crypto crash was the best thing to happen
Oh shit yeah, I take it component prices are gonna drop too, never even thought about that
you have zero idea of the bigger picture
@@jamiecovfefe6323what, the fact that it financially ruined thousands of people who put trust in peers that advocated for crypto being the next big thing. It seems like it's the most risky thing to invest in, and did back before the crash as well. NFTs are a poor side product which actually had some thought behind it in the early days, but became a wasteland of garbage that it is today as well, probably as soon as Crypto bros saw the profit margins that copy and pasted artwork would get.
@@jamiecovfefe6323 what bigger picture? explain to me what benefit would we have if crypto losers keep mining their stupid coins

I was at a Crawley game some seasons ago when I think they had lost every game up to then, and were losing again. The Crawley fans were quietly chanting "We're f******g sh*t...!" I thought massive credit to them for their honesty and sense of humour. Crawley turned it around and stayed up.
Hey, Alfie. I'd like to ask you to consider making a video on Flamengo's disaster class as the year comes to an end.
Bullet points:
*In 2022, they sacked the manager that had led them to win the Brazilian Cup and the Libertadores, the latter of which they won after the best performance in the competition's history;
*The motives given to the media were all BS, but the real reason was that the president and vice president wanted a foreign born manager to increase the brand's prestige;
*They hired a mid Portuguese manager with a decent passage at Corinthians, Vitor Pereira, who lost them the Club World Cup in their first game and lost the Campeonato Carioca in humiliating fashion to Fluminense;
*They sacked Pereira for Jorge Sampaoli (or simply Sampa), the man behind 2018 Argentina's underwhelming campaign at the World Cup;
*Flamengo's individual strengths were still vastly sufficient to win them games, but the team started lacking in organization more and more;
*Protests arose among the fans, but the presidency seemed unbothered;
*Eventually, the fitness coach in Sampa's team, who had been working with him for years, punched one of Flamengo's attackers in the face, who had ceased to warm up following Flamengo's last substitution in a Brazilian Championship match;
*The aggressor is fired, but Sampa refused to support Pedro and takes a "centrist" position, but is miraculously kept in the team as the social capital goes to shit;
*Anomalous underperformances start becoming more and more frequent, losing 0-3 at home to a middle-of-the-second-half-of-the-table club's B team;
*Another fight breaks, between a midfielder and a defender;
*Flamengo loses the first of two games of the Brazilian Cup final at home to São Paulo, a club that's also nicknamed Sampa and has never won the competition, but is coached by Dorival Jr., the same coach that had won the Brazilian Cup in the previous year for Flamengo;
*Landim, Flamengo's president, went to the media to say that he still somehow believes in Sampaoli's work following the loss, despite Sampa himself saying he doesn't;
*One day later, Marcos Braz, Flamengo's vice-president and city counselor for Rio De Janeiro, gets yelled at by a Flamengo supporter while Shopping at a Shopping Center (which he was doing despite having falsely confirmed his presence at the city's council), and, instead of taking it like someone who accepted the responsibility of being the vice-president for the most supported team in LatAm and a city councilor one of its most populous cities, decides to beat the guy up;
*Even bites the complainer's groin, somehow;
*Now he might be arrested, because that happened yesterday, and, as the second game of the final approaches, the current Brazilian Cup champions, coached by Sampa, could lose the title to Sampa, coached by the current Brazilian Cup Champion.
I'm certain more mess is going to take place until the end of the year. But that's crazier than any Adam Sandler movie!
I bet this is much worse than Manchester United 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
you just made the whole video
Pay this man! 😂
I didn't think anything strange enough to impress me remained; I was wrong. Biting a disgruntled supporter/voter in the groin is just *chef's kiss*.
Wrexham ends up in the Prem before Crawly Town(I give Wrexham 25% chance so I'm not saying they will). Crypto bros are either scamming or being scammed at all times.
your last sentence is bang on
Wrexham is definitely more likely to reach PL than Crawley, but i'd evaluate the likelyhood of them doing so closer to 2,5%, rather than 25%. For Crawley the likelyhood would be around 0,025%. At least if we're talking timespan of next 10 years or so.
Neither will end up in prem, Wrexham arnt rich enough plus everyteam loses millions in the championship. Once the TV show goes I don't see the 2 actors staying around
crypto is a speculative investment so yeah
you misspelled "scam" @@beigegecko
Anything crypto & NFT makes my blood boil, if you're the lucky few who make a lot off it it's based on luck & shady deals conning people, in fairness anyone with an average IQ could see NFT's for what they were (worthless) but unfortunately some people are just dumb/bandwagon jumpers or just desperate to get out of the trap the world keeps most in financially
The universe is chaotic, without meaning or intent, and doesn't care to keep anyone in a trap, financial or otherwise. Gravitational, maybe. If you produce enough value in a functioning economy, you do well. NFTs are not the first and not the last means of parting fools from their money. It has been cogently argued that fools and money were fortunate enough to meet in the first place. Before NFTs it was crypto. Before crypto, it was forex trading with 'market-makers'. Before forex 'trading', it was MLM and timeshares. And so on. Now it's taxes to support Nazis in Ukraine, tomorrow it'll be something else.
This club are definitely responsible for one of the biggest sea changes I've seen as a Swindon fan in a season. Lindsey jumping ship from us mid season to join Crawley co-incided with us selling half the squad, some of which went to Crawley themselves. By 2023-24 a third of Crawley's squad were a whose who of ex Swindon players and an ex Swindon manager. So... thrashing them 5-0 was extremely satisfying.
It was 6-0?
@rhyssamuel7908 Yes. I don't blame you if you stopped paying attention before the match ended though.
@@Aperson-62was a freak result lol
I find it funny how Sussex has the worst and best owners in all of England
I have an interesting request for a video: Arminia BIelefeld, currently 18th in german 3rd division after 2 straight relegations
Hey I remember them. I played with Arminia in some football manager games.
Been brought up in West Sussex my whole life, great to see a bit of exposure for 2 teams local to me. Another terrific video Alfie.
Cryptobros owning a football team? What could possibly go wrong...
I've been following Crawley Town for a number of years now due to family connections. It's cool to see you do a video on them, Alfie. Cheers!
Love the profile picture
Considering how difficult to predict League 2 is (and in fact most of the EFL), the fact that other than a supercomputer who predicted us to finish 23rd this season, I haven't seen a single prediction from before the start of the season that had us anywhere other than last, it is quite astonishing that this season's goal to finish above the rather generous relegation line is being completely blown out of the water. Results this season have me questioning everything
wait, so things might be looking good
Since discovering who they're owned by, I've wished nothing but failure and misery on Crawley, not to the fans (whoever they are) but purely because of they owners being Crypto Bros
Well hopefully they sell
@@lordpicnic7358 When they do I'll go back to being neutral about 'em

I was looking forward to this video from the moment WAGMI bought Crawley lol. When you see crypto bros buying a club it was when disaster strikes not if.
I never thought that I would get a Zyzz reference on a HITC Sevens video
you know its fucked up when Gary Vee is involved
Yep, it's probably the biggest red flag of the club as Gary is a cringe factory who has been the topic of many videos.
I just typed in NFTs while watching this video and low and behold, there's a short of Gary Vee saying he can't wait for the crash so he can profit... even though he was a massive shill for it before
yeah, he was a shill for it *because* he wanted to profit from the eventual crash @@yourdadhasadogfilter2505
"We all gonna make it, brahs" Zyzz 1989-2011 ❤️
I hate how "we're all gonna make it" got hijacked by Crypto. Zyzz was speaking about young guys who wanted to get in to fitness and maybe lacked confidence, not about pump and dump schemes.
So pleased to see this upload, such an interesting story which I've been following for a while. I feel sorry for Crawley fans having to endure all of this lunacy.
Dont think their complaining right now tho currently 2nd in league with equal points with Notts County
May not be for the most positive reasons (rarely is with Crawley) but it’s nice to watch a video about my hometown team Alfie, quality video as always!
Visited then last season and had a great day, good facilities, friendly staff and fans. I wish them the best.
In summary, while the club's financial foundation seems as stable as beach sand, results between the white lines have been positive so far this season. Hopefully the ownership allows the current manager to continue the positive trends and doesn't pull the rug out from under him in some kind of rash move.
Awesome videos lately!
Steve Evans should have done time for what he did at Boston United
I remember tamworth playing Crawley and they were at a different level
They battered us😢
Their improved results are a real surprise twist! I expected them to be in another relegation battle.
Early doors yet, they'll be down there soon.

I just finished a video about a club run by Flavio Briatore (After he was banned from formula one for fixing races) and still 3 min in this seems worse. Incredible. Not just that, but just the sight of their nft devil mascott thing made me feel sad, when you said they avoided relegation by three points. I know about the club for 3 min and I already hope they'll bust.
As a Crawley fan this is a painful watch😭
There is also Real Bedford (9th tier) that is owned by crypto-businessman with the aim guess what... to reach the Premier League.
Video on Southall FC and it’s massive footprint on football would be lovely,
English football should have the 50+1 fan ownership rule, just like in Germany
The league would lose around 75% of it's revenue overnight if that happened, so that'll never happen. Also, the disparity between the top 6 and everyone else would just continue to grow but at an even worse rate than it currently is.
This isn't actually a good system, look at German football as a whole.
@@rezarfarisn’t the 50+1 rule only a bundesliga thing?
You should watch Welcome To Wrexham and watch how the fans regard the previous ownership under a fan consortium! There is a reason why that model is not the norm globally...
Being a Crawley town fan has been hard the last few seasons 🤣
Looks like its pretty bloody good right now though, good luck to Crawley for the rest of the year. Crypto Bros clearly do care though which is more than you can say about most clubs.
Anybody who turns up at a football club and starts going on about ‘next stop Premier league’. Should immediately fail a fit and proper test.
Incidentally, the logo at 33:11 (at the screen with the "Town, Team, Together" motto is NOT that of Crawley, but of Fleetwood Town. I can recognize that logo pretty easily since Fleetwood was Jamie Vardy's former club before he joined Leicester City (and he is one of my most favorite players)
You are right, though I think it may have been accidentally included as Crawley Town also use the "Town, Team, Together" motto.
We know FLEETWOOD mate
Original as always. Can we please have a video about Maltese Football ⚽ Thank you
Very interesting & thought inspiring indeed
Great video. Short term bias here, but seems that they may have been able to turn things around. Couldn't have had a worse start, having to deal with both Yems and the collapse of the crypto market.
Holy shit Steve Evans could not be more baked if he's an actual lobster being boiled alive
And here's me two days ago thinking to myself. I wonder when Alfie will make a video on Crawley Town?

It's early days this season, but it's starting to look like that 6=0 defeat at yours was one of those freak results that happen occasionally. I'm reminded that when we were promoted to L! way back, we got stuffed 6-0 at Morecambe that season too. Mind you, our entire first choice defence was out injured.
They also beat us (Charlton) in the pizza cup. Played some decent stuff, although we did help them by subbing on an entire defence of children
