Man... would hate to see you stop posting, but I understand it being frustrating when you dont see a good return on all the time spent in making your awesome videos. I really appreciate your channel. Because of you I made the decision to purchase the zve10 and learned its more about the person behind the camera than it is the camera. I also learned so much about the zve 10 through your channel. Again, much appreciated.
The purpose of this video was to really vent to the audience. There are MANY people who no longer get updates when I post a video. This video brought in some new people and notified some people (who were not getting updates) that have been subbed for a long time.
I am not sure what's going on but I think there are a number of things at play here. I am NOT leaving this channel yet. I will try some new things and keep you all in the loop!
Most people here like the ZV-E10 content so I decided to do the challenge video and it went Ok. I may revisit that again IF I can get the word out.

Mate - I just started CZcams after being a great creator on other platforms for years. Mate your ZVE10 video was EPIC, the cut ins and cut outs, sounds, everything, the music, the story telling the works. When I grow up I wanna be as good as you on here brother. I haven't fully scrolled your channel yet - but I want to learn everything you do. Its amazing, like what sound design app do you describe to, what's your workflow like the works. You're a natural in front of the camera, and I love your seemingly casual yet entertaining and educational approach. You make it look simple. I hope you find a way to balance that time and effort to make it worth your while to stay on CZcams. I made 20 videos for my other channel in the past year, so I'm still new to this. I've noticed a lot of big channels have less than 1/4 views compared to the number of subscribers. There's no doubt that CZcams is hard. A common thread from VidIQ and people like Jeven Dovey say to create business via email lists from your followers and not to rely on ad revenue. My personal goal is to gain interest from an agent to get a book published. Wishing you the best. Please keep us updated!

This is really very strange. Yesterday the video of you with the ZV-E10 ii was suggested to me and I noticed that nothing from your channel has been suggested to me for a long time. And that's despite the fact that I sometimes comment and have subscribed to your channel.
When I look at the channels with lots of clicks, I've noticed for some time now that they are all channels that always rate products in a relatively uncritical and extremely positive way. That almost seems to be what you want.
Your video on the ZV-E10 ii is the only one that actually questions the sense and justification of this camera compared to the Mark i and from my point of view you are absolutely right. But I'm afraid that's not what you want.
It would be really great if you continued, but I also understand your frustration, especially with the valuable work you do. Many thanks for that!
First of all thank you for taking the time to give me the feedback on your experience with not seeing content. It's something that MANY others have told me as well.
For some reason CZcams simply wasn't showing my videos to people who watched and EVEN subbed.
With that being said, you are right in saying that I don't criticize a lot of gear here on this channel. This is mostly because the gear I feature here on this channel, it also gear I have used myself and am recommending it to others.
I have tried not to become a channel that will post vides like "5 Reasons you should NOT buy the Sony ZV-E10" then 3 months later another video called "5 Reasons you SHOULD buy the Sony ZV-E10". To me this just keeps my viewers going in circles trying to decide on what gear to get while I benefit from the views.
Instead I think people should be focused on actually creating content vs reviewing, analyzing and critiquing gear. There's nothing wrong with channels that make a living doing that however, personally it's not a great use of my time nor is it advantageous to my wonderful subscribers.
I do think that I may start giving more critiques on popular gear as it's seems necessary to stay in the algorithm and remain relevant.

The production quality of your videos is way beyond the views and subs. I've also learned a lot, especially about lighting from your videos that didn't get a lot of views so thank you. I think what I have noticed that the Gurus don't talk about is that at the end of the day, if you're not doing some sort of advertising, the algorithm isn't going to give you attention. That's how CZcams/Google gets paid and it rewards those that are a part of that ecosystem. Even if you're mentioning a product (product recognition) it's going to like it more. Maybe it's just the culture that we live in. So, if this video had been "What I think about the ZV-E10 Mark 2..." or if you had followed the wave behind the DJI Pocket 3 then boom. I think you can incorporate more of that and still do your thing.

I guess I am stubborn because I honestly loath chasing the algorithm for views. Sure I can ride the wave however, I want to build a base of people who share the same values and outlook that I do.
I'm not saying the others need to be JUST like me but they will understand that gear is just a SMALL percentage of making meaningful content. I honestly feel like there aren't any HUGE differences between MOST cameras that are out.
I honestly believe that the ZV E10 II isn't going to be much different than what's already out there. MOST people want a viewfinder, stabilization and 10bit. Two of those things already exists in the FX30 and A6700.

@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia Understood! I am looking at the A6700 hard as an upgrade to the ZV-E10, especially if the Mark 2 doesn't have ibis. I really want the Zv-E1 but it's more expensive and I'd have to get full frame lenses to make it work to it's full potential. I was hoping the mark 2 would be an a6700 without the viewfinder for around $1200.
If you don't absolutely NEED a viewfinder and aren't going to be doing a lot of photos, I would go with the FX30?
The HUGE selling point for me on the FX30 was the cooling fan! This makes the camera ROCK solid! I have shot in temps of 108 Fahrenheit with NO issues!

@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia I think the 6700 fits my style a little more. I don't generally film for over 10 minutes at a time. Mostly vlogs and travel. The biggest appeal for me on the fx30 is the higher resolution LCD. Sony makes it difficult!

Just my case: I was searching for a cam and found your channel, so I've got ZV-E10 and now actually I don't need to watch every video on your channal (though, there're a lot of useful about ZV-E10 as well - attachments, gears and etc, and I watch them from time to time). It's not because your channel isn't good. No! Your channal at least in Top-3 or maybe even the best in its niche (at least in the way how you're brining the info and discussing on pros and cons).
So, I wish you success in finding something new. I'm pretty sure, you do have everything to be an exellent vlogger: the voice, the presence in the frame, the light - everything is really really good, so don't throw it away completely!

I originally watched bc I had bought a zve10 and was learning about the camera. But as I grew and learned - I wanted just photography content in general so it didn’t have to about the zve10 specifically. I appreciate your videos very much and I know how you feel my channel has also been suffering as of late. I know mine has to do with consistency. There may be other factors as well. I watch all the Roberto Blake videos too and get a lot of good information from them. But I think there is too much information which makes it easy to get weighed down by what we "need to do" and maybe just one or two pieces of advice at a time might be easier to accomplish than trying to cram all that in at once. Hope I'm not too far off from what you were trying to convey. I can guarantee your next video will do better 🙏

Don't give up, my gut says you're going to do well, so don't give up. I went to university for 5 years before I saw any money from what I studied, and now I'm back in university for another 3 years so I can get to the top of my game. That's 8 years total man! Great accomplishments take time and consistent effort. Obviously you got to earn and provide for your family and you need to prioritise that, but figure out a way to keep this going, and be patient (8 years, 8 lol!).
Try researching about the CZcams algorithm from a different perspective like, "CZcams algorithm explained by a programmer" or the like. Try making shorter 7 to 10 min videos max, just so you can upload more frequently. Or 2 channels, a gear one and a filmmaking one and then talk about the popular stuff on the gear one - look at it as a way to subsidise the filmmaking one.

😢 My 2 cents is that many people came to find your channel because of the ZVE-10 videos (I did). Once you started going away from that (your most recent popular video is a ZVE10 video. I don't think that is a coincidence), combined with the trend and hype with the ZVE-10 dying down (there s a newer model - latest and greatest), the algorithm no longer recommends your newest videos. So I think you may be right anout the algorithm seeing your channel as basically a sony camera channel. Honestly, your videos are good, but as I said before, lately I feel less inclined to watch them because of the topics, except to support you. The practical camera how tos were good. Maybe continue providing value with that?

I'm sure there are a NUMBER of things that's causing my channel to simply not be seen by MOST of my subscribers. The weird thing is that I see other creators talking about the ZVE10 and they will EASILY get 10-20K views with a lot of engagement.
As I said in the video, once the algorithm has you miscategorized.. there's almost NOTHING one can do except get pushed by another LARGER creator.
Other than that organic reach is pretty much dead..
One thing I have seen is RANDOM videos from a RANDOM channels SUDDENLY just blow up like after YEARS of it being 100% dead! I can't explain that either....

I had an old channel that i let lay dormant for about 4 years that had a couple thousand subs. I decided one day to make videos, the views were slow as i had lost the majority of the audience so i would only get 20 views. Then one day i decided since no one watched i would make radically different content, i went “viral” that night and immediately i was flooded with views. I know the algorithm is always changing but that taught me to view my channel more as individual videos and not so much like a cohesive “network”. Different videos perform differently it’s not your channel it’s the topic in each individual video. I’ve noticed that large creators have no shame about making the same video over and over again and it works even jf it’s redundant. Best of luck
CZcams is pushing smaller creators now, it's more to do with retention them sub count now apparently. Your content has not been on my feed for months. Your videos have really helped me with my ZVE10 setup. Thank you. Everything happens for a reason.
Yeah.. I honestly don't know what it's about anymore. It used to be ALL about thumbnails and titles however, I have seen people who put ZERO effort into thumbnails get TONS of views!
CZcams is pushing smaller creators HARD regardless of title, content or thumbnail. I think it's doing something similar to TikTok. They will give you a HUGE push to see if you "stick".
We will see where this all goes though!

Damn, this was good to hear that other creators are feeling the same way I am and I don't have near the following...
I took a look at your channel and must say you have some great content! It looks like your channel situation is similar to mine in that you get the MOST views when you talk about gear!
Although you probably don't want to talk about gear as much, since the algorithm has you there, you may have to do that until you get recommended more.
Since this video, I have posted on a new camera that just came out and my channel has been doing pretty well.
I am not saying I have the answers however, I DO know that gear is something that sells and it's something that people like watch. Maybe a video like "5 reason why the Bose S1 pro is worth it" or Bose S1 pro 7 months later.
I have also noticed that most of the CZcamsrs that are smaller post 3-4 times a week and it helps them grow. I don't know how often you will be able to post but I think at least 1 time a week is a MUST. If not, CZcams simply isn't showing your content.

I’ve learned a lot about videography from your channel and others on here and I really appreciate what you do!
Even though I have a small channel myself, I will respond to you just as a regular viewer point of view. Even though I'm subscribed to over 50 channels, CZcams will only recommend videos based on my last few searches and pushes that type of content on me. It ignores the fact that I'm subscribed to channels that interest me. I sometimes have to go to the category of subscriptions to catch the latest videos to channels I subscribe to.
A second thing I'm trying to improve on myself is starting all videos with the Title & Thumbnail first when creating content instead of leaving those at the end.
I noticed this too as a viewer of CZcams. The things I REALLY like, hardly EVER get recommended to me. I do get A LOT of NEW creators though.
When it comes to the thumbnails and titles, I know everyone says they are the MOST important however, if people aren't even SHOWN your content, your title and thumbnail will never get seen.
Riding this CZcams train is a long journey I see!

CZcams's algorithm has never been 'intelligent'. I'm still tryin to refresh my home page, fighting for some possible great content that I like but CZcams just putting what it thinks great down my throat. Your channel is great. And it's always great to have some vids you're proud of. But keep pulling the strings and you'll find the right one eventually.

I just watched a video by Ben Kaluza. Check out his most recent video. He mirrors a lot of what you said and offers a possible solution.
Create 50% videos like this one... VERY minimal effort, some background music and speaking off the cuff. The other 50% is a bit more effort.
This way for every other video, you can take a "breather" of sorts.
Also, you state that your WHY is to bring value to people. Do you have a rough number or percentage of subscribers? You said a video got 63 views. That has to be disheartening, but over 60 people got value from it.
Not sure if that encourages at all.

Everybody wants the new piece of kit that will make them great because buying kit is easy and fun.
Nobody wants to learn how to use the kit they have properly because that’s harder.
You’re doing the hard bit.
Do what you love. And I say that as a guy who usually carries a harmonica because of Howlin’ Wolf. Do I sound like the Wolf? No. Ohh I can bend a note and make it howl but not like the Wolf. I still carry one in my pocket though.
You've got the all the right ingredients! Success is just a matter of time. Keep the honest and sincere reviews - that's getting harder and harder to find on CZcams. You can become one of the few go-to guys for that. Some other channels that get a bunch of views early on, for whatever algorithm reason, will have a hard time maintaining longevity as people figure out over time "wait a sec...this is all just cleverly disguised snake oil product hyping". I've unsubscribed to a bunch for that reason over time...sometimes it takes a little while to figure that out. Anyway, You, on the other other hand, might have to work hard at first, for whatever algorithm reasons, but you've got great potential for longevity and maintaining your audience if you continue with the honest reviews. No doubt, from the growth of CZcams and its size alone things have changed. There's loads of more creators to compete with for the same 24hr time space every viewer has each day. And the A.I. tools accelerate the output even more, although at the cost of quality (so far).
From a perspecitve of a viewer I know my habits have changed. At first I'd have select group of maybe 20 channels I'd subsribe to and watch pretty much everything they published. Once the pandemic lockdowns have ended and with over 200 feeds - I had to become much more discriminating. I cared more about the low-end camera settings and know-how than the latest 16bit colour Red reviews. In fact that's how I came across your channel, with videos about how to willfully create aesthetics with gear one already owns, rather than just spending dollars on feeding G.A.S. I know this is a parasitic relationship: I suck all the info from your channel, so I can go away and try to Philip Bloom the imagery into my own work. In fact the educational content is kinda like that in general - it teaches you how to sweat your brains out trying to create something, and that alone means no longer gobbling up other people's content.
There is a false perception that the growth is infinite... Well, maybe for the Universe it is true. But for everything else, growth is always evolving and builds upon the decay of what was there before.
I am sure you will figure out your angles, whether to split up channels into creative output and edu content, or go vertical for eyeballs with links to what else you do, or ditch all this and go into a different niche like emerging VR or somethin'.
I think it's kinda like being a sportsman or a warrior, one maybe competing or fighting for a cause, but ultimately, the glory is only in one's own mind. And that's OK.

Consumer grow and you either grow with them or you pivit, because what worked 1 year agoor 3 years ago is no longer working. How you approach things needs updating. When the ai gets bored with the same content over and over and it's not a buzzz you get put on the back burner in the youtube ai. That's why I saw your Vidcon video because it was relevant and trending proably so ai pushed that up and notified not just me I see others saying sort of the same thing. You don't need to change the trends but when you can piggy back one it sure does help.

I’ve been dealing with the same decline over the past few years on my channel. Things were good from 2012 to about 2020. Now, I actually lose subs with every video thus discouraging me from making more.
Views have tanked as well.
I think CZcams is dead. Too many ads too. Been watching Rumble more and more instead of CZcams.

CZcams is fairly shit nowadays. The suggestions it makes to me are mostly of little interest, their algorithm seems much less effective to me as a watcher recently. I appreciate your videos though, you're one of the best.
I have to agree that something has drastically changed with CZcams over the last year or so. I keep getting random things like sewing and clothing video....
I NEVER watch anything about clothing on CZcams however, CZcams seems to think that one day I may give in and start watching clothing channels. The sad part is that if CZcams keeps suggesting the same video to a BUNCH of people who aren't interested in it, the end result will be a lack of reach for that video itself.
The whole time, the issue was that the algorithm was recommending videos to the wrong audience.

It’s interesting that this specific video actually showed up for a lot of my subscribers. I have had a lot of people tell me that they randomly stopped seeing my content. 🤷🏾♂️
Many people have suggested that it was because I stopped taking so much about the ZV E10 but at the same time, they said they had moved on.
So it’s an interesting situation however, I have some plans for this channel.

so i don’t really care about cameras or photography or whatever your channel is. but the shadowban interested me. it’s safe to say that the algorithm isn’t pushing your previous several videos, but my suggestion is to keep on keeping on. this is when you prove to yourself that you’re making videos because you love it, and not for the views or money that come with it.

Hey man. My theory: your click through rate is low because 'Purposed Lens Photo and Media' sounds like a camera store, not an individual creator. Also, your profile icon is essentially a tiny sliver of light in a mostly pitch black circle. Come out of the shadows, make a brighter more visible icon and give your channel a name that doesnt sound like a shop that I go to to get my film developed. Your content is excellent but its your CTR thats taking the hit and I think these are the reasons why.

Its just a rat race in my opinion man. I love your content personally, you cant make content for everyone. ALso the algorithm changes based on what we do right? So it's like you're forever trying to please it. One day its post more, the next its dont post too much, then its post this content, but dont post that content too much. I feel to stand out, is to post whatever you want because there's not another you, and you train the algorithm for what you want vs the other way around. Love & peace brother.

Smaller creators. I mean microscopic channels, they are all over my feed. Big channels, all over my feed. Middle-sized channels conspicuously missing.
Small channels will only make money for Google. Big channels need to be incentivised to keep bringing in the viewers. That's my hypothesis.
CZcams was always a grind, but I've not gained in subscriber count in about 4 years - I would get new subs but the overall count keeps going down. I have almost quit so many times, but kept coming back... Until 2 weeks ago when I unlisted 6 years of content and just kept up the original 40-something videos that still bring in £10 a month.
My channel is dead. I also shut down my Instagram.
I took a look at your channel and it honestly is a great channel! You are natural on camera and you seem to know your way around keeping people's attention!
I can't say I have any SOLID solutions for your dilemma however since this video I posted, my channel has almost done a 180.
I am seeing videos that never got views suddenly start getting views. It's almost as though certain key words at certain times make a difference in getting recommended?
Maybe try putting out a video similar to this one explaining your troubles with CZcams. You may get "rediscovered" by the Algorithm?
Whatever the outcome just know that it's NOT your content or a YOU problem as many people like to say, I 100% TRULY believe the algorithm is just being funky for some reason with your channel?
Also, I am not sure how often you can upload but I am seeing that channels who upload more are getting recommended more as well....
It's almost as though CZcams is saying, "we are only pushing full time creators, as they bring in more revenue potential!" This is just a guess but.. maybe worth a shot.

@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia all the videos remaining are from 2017/2018. I got pretty good at being a youtuber. Through my videos I got a real job working for a charity, and even ended up joining a larger channel as full-time editor. I've been invited to festivals, done talks on stage and meet and greet youtuber type things. I had a dedicated following that just..... Went.
Like you I tried a few tricks to please the algorithm. I niched, I pivoted, I switched up the format. A few weekends ago, I hosted a talk at a festival and ZERO people turned up. That was my cue to call it a day.
It was really great for a while and I have no regrets. CZcams changed my life. The experience has given me a confidence and self worth that I lacked before. It's just time to find a new passion.

Turn you assumption around: it’s probably not the algorithm pushing your videos to the wrong people (ie those who watch your a6400 and other gear videos) but the fact that less people are interested in the topics, gear (the bag) and other subjects you have been posting lately, combined with posting less *AND* the fact it’s summer and vacation time.
The video topic + posting less problem is one of compound views. By posting less you loose out on views generated by people seeing the latest video and then watching older videos, if you add to that topics that are less searchable or have fewer people who are interested in the topics the effect compounds in a negative way.
It’s like this: If I have a channel about video games, making videos about the newest games, it eill probably do pretty well if I have the quality you have on your videos.
If I suddenly switch to older or more obscure video games, not the «cool» old games, but just in general games with less people interested in them - unless I have a *huuuuge* following I will get a lot less views.
Do an experiment and try making 2-3 videos specifically on the cameras you mentioned that have done well, if the views pick up again … then you know it’s the topics of some of the previous videos that are causing the slump. Looking at incorporating *something* in videos that might have mass appeal, and highlight that in the thumb/title, even if *the whole* video is not necessarily about that, could be a solution, like «How to light and shoot portraits with the sony a6400 (and other cameras)».
Nicheing down doesn’t mean «go narrow», it means «go specific» (the meaning of niche got lost in translation at some point when youtubers just repeated what *other youtubers* said at some point not explaining or understanding the context».
Now specific can be broad, photography gear is niche, it’s specific, but a broad audience. Lighting and techniques are narrower than photography as a niche, even though one should think they would be the same. So focusing on technique means growth will be slower. Unknown brands are *very* specific, and probably won’t do well unless thumb/title is of the «You won’t believe this (insert product here)» or «My new favourite Zzzzz you haven’t heard about» or similarly curiosity clickbaity-ish titles and matching thumbs.
Having an audience/subs at 11k doesn’t mean youtube will show your latest video to them, it only does that if the topic aligns with each subs current interests and view history on an individual basis - youtube has said this themselves: when a user logs on they look for videos that match the viewers current pattern and finds those and serve them on the home feed. this also partially goes for the subscribe feed. I follow lots of woodworkers, but haven’t watched woodworking in a long time, so now youtube doesn’t show videos from their channels in my subscription feed, and they sometime show up in my homefeed if it’s a video that have performed really well last week or two.
So don’t give up just yet, but do take a hard long look at your topics, thumbs and titles, and evaluate if they do have any «mass appeal» you could highlight or are narrow in scope and searchability, and if that can be «adjusted» to hit broader. A general backpack review without comparison to a known brand, or something special to make it stand out will probably not take off, no matter how well the video is made, if it drowns in a sea of other backpack reviews - a comparison with a big name brand backpack though will probably do better, and so on :)
Try a rebranding if all else is already failing!
I have a few more tricks up my sleeve! I'm not quitting.. just refocusing and reevaluating my strategy!

A lot of what's out there (information wise) isn't true for everyone! Most people who have GREAT shorts engagement don't do well on long form. This is why many people create a separate shorts channel. When you do shorts, you attract an audience that has SHORT attention spans and will kill your AVD on your long form videos. 🥺

I actually did try shorts and I started losing views on my main videos. The shorts brought over a lot of audience with SHORT attention spans that didn't want to view my full videos. This drove down my CTR and AVD which hurt my channel.
I ended up deleting shorts to get around it but it still hurt me in the end.
If I do shorts, I will create a shorts channel possibly.
Please keep it going. You are doing well. But Frequency is really good too. Flood the CZcams space with your videos okay.🤍🤍🤍
