    • @sevenoxia7199
      @sevenoxia7199 Před 2 lety +2

      Yeah because 70 + 30 would equal 100 so how would 77 + 33 equal 100 and how could people think that.

    • @speedywaffels3230
      @speedywaffels3230 Před 2 lety

      @@sevenoxia7199 well you've as a kid had learnt all the numbers that together make 10. When you see 8 and a 2 you think of 10. 6 and 4, 5 and 5, 9 and 1. So when you see 77 + 33 you think "oh its 7 plus 3 but it has another number so its 100 instead of 10"

    • @sevenoxia7199
      @sevenoxia7199 Před 2 lety +1

      @@speedywaffels3230 that's not how math works, since the real sum of 7+3 to equal 100 is 70+30 which makes sense as the zero is just there to bump up the value of the number. as a kid I was always sceptical of the claim that 77+33 would equal to 100 because these are multiples of 11 and not 10 so how could they go up to 100 when 100 is not a multiple of 11? See you can work it out simpler such as 7+3 well that's 10 then 70+30 which is 100. Breaking down the sum would make sense but since 77 and 33 are not multiples of 10 (which should be obvious by the number itself) they cannot equal to 100 and one thing to learn is that any multiple of 11 lower than 100 will just be a number repeated twice, such as 22, 33, 44, 55 and the rest of them. As a kid this is learnt quite simply when you're being taught the 11 times tables. Again for addition a multiple of 11 CANNOT equal 100. let's try it, 99+11, 110. 99+11 should make it clear that 77+33 and 88+22 can't equal 100 or any other "pair" of multiples of 11 made up of friends of 10. example, 66+44 and 55+55 (this would be the second easiest to work out since it's just plusing the same number in different ways. plusing 5+5 gives you the left over 10, whilst plusing the remaining 5's which are actually 50's is 100, added together 110.

    To me, 77 + 33 = 100 feels right because of the way I visualize math. When I see 7 + 3, I kinda subconsciously imagine the 3 slotting into the 7 to form a 10. As a result, I think of it less like a math equation, more like a puzzle--7 and 3 are two puzzle ends that lock together to produce 10. As a result, 77 + 33 feels like the same puzzle pieces being put together, meaning my mind naturally wants them to form a clean answer, 100, despite me logically knowing that it should be 110. Fascinating stuff, really.

    It does feel intuitive for it to be 100, but when you break it down into simpler numbers - 77+33 > 7+3(zero on the end) and 7+3 you get 10(+0) + 10 which equals to 100+10. It really depends on how you look at maths, if you simply look at it and try to quickly add it in your head you can easily mistake it for 100, but when you break more complex numbers instinctivly into more managable forms it becomes very obvious. Just like its obvious 9+10=21

    If 7+3=10 and 77+33= 100 then 70 + 30 = 90. 70 and 30 are just the same numbers as 7+3 but multiplied by 10 so if that happens 7+3 becomes 9, which makes stuff worse. And you are supposed to add the ones before the tens and so on. So if that happens 77+33 gets to keep on shrinking due to paradoxes.

    77+33 actually equals 1010. As Mathematics is the science and study of quality, structure, space, and change. Mathematicians seek out patterns, formulate new conjectures, and establish truth by rigorous deduction from appropriately chosen axioms and definitions.
    If you take and do a common math method and (7)(7)+(3)(3) and break it down, you can do 7+3 twice, creating a paradox creating 1010

    77 + 33 = 110 in Decimal (the number system we're all familiar with, with digits up to ten), because 70+30=100, 7+3=10, and 100+10=110.
    However, in a number system with digits up to twelve (dozenal), 65 + 29 (Same values, I just translated them to dozenal) = 92 (9 × 12 = 108, 108 + 2 = 110)
    What about digits up to eleven (undecimal)?
    70 + 30 (same values again, but translatedto undecimal) = X0 (X is a single-digit representation of 10 from decimal, but X0 ≠ 100, because this number system has eleven digits instead of ten. X0 in undecimal is equivalent to 110 in decimal, while 100 in undecimal is equivalent to 121 in decimal.)

    • @OhCrapI_He
      @OhCrapI_He Před 2 lety

      @@bucket8849 If 77+33 really is 100, that implies you're not using decimal.
      Maybe what they mean is "77+33=100" in undecimal, but using different values than they would be in decimal.
      77 in undecimal converts to (7×11)+7, which is 84 in decimal, 33 in undecimal similarly translates to (3×11)+3 = 36 in decimal. 100 in undecimal, as we already established, is 121.
      However, 84+36=120, not 121.
      77+33=100 is very close to being true in undecimal, but it’s off by 1.
      77+33≠100
      77+33=XX (XX = 10*11 + 10 = 120)
      But do you really want to start using undecimal instead of decimal, just because that means 77+33=100 is almost true?
      You get that, but you sacrifice the ease of counting by any number other than one or eleven.
      Meanwhile, in Decimal, you can easily count in ones, twos, fives, or tens.
      Dozenal is even better with this, as it's easy to count in ones, twos, threes, fours, sixes, and twelves, sacrificing only the ease of counting in fives, but since everyone uses decimal, I don't think we'd be ready to adjust, and with computers easily translating from binary to other number systems, I don't see much of a point in changing number systems, aside from giving people a fun new way to think about math.

    This reminds me of the music "dezessete e setecentos"(seventeen and seven hundred), is a funny/goofy Brazilian song were the singer says: I gave you 20 thousand to pay 3.3k you have to give back?(the chorus answer 16.700, then the singer responds that it's 17.700 while boasting his intellect and calling everyone stupid)

    Its pretty simple
    77 + 33 = 110 why?
    We can split it into tow thing
    70 + 30 = 100 because (7 + 3)*10
    And then add the 7+3 which is 10
    100 + 10 is 110
    All of this mess is because thing are not what they seem at first

    I saw a video explaining how your brain solves problems, basically there's 2 types of problem solving your brain does, short and automatic, and long and thought out.
    While the subconscious quick form of problem solving is correct a lot, (as we encounter quick problems all the time) it can also get tripped up easily, which in turn can trip up your longer conscious form of problem solving.
    Even though I know 33+77=110 the quick answer part of my brain still says the answer is 100 because it lines up too perfectly for my brain
    I wish I could remember the name of the video I saw

    1. Get 77 & 33.
    2. Get the ones making it 70 and 30. (I guess so?)
    3. Add them. 70 + 30 = 100
    4. Put the ones here and add them. 7 + 3 = 10
    5. Add them together. 100 + 10 = 110
    Problem Solved.
