Christian Bale should play Owlman (Thomas Wayne Jr) in the New Batman movies, he is the Secret Brother of Bruce from the Court of Owls and envies everything Bruce has.

What I personally also like about the film as well is that it can be enjoyed in two way: As a fantastic satirical dark comedy. And as a film that tries to explore the 'Unreliable Narrator' to the extreme, as Patrick Bateman can't differentiate between what's happening in the real world and inside of his head. Basically, it's to the point where anything he says or does is probably in his mind as none of the other characters really react to him.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

If anything, memes gave this incredible movie a new life in modern day
One of the few memes I genuinely laughed at. The catalytic converter ones made me laugh hard because they were just so ridiculous mixed with the sigma male irony.
Christian Bale is an amazing actor, and all of his movies are memeable. Same with Nicholas Cage.
When I first saw this movie, it definitely went way over my head, but I do enjoy the complexity of its message and how open-ended they leave it regarding whether Patrick actually did any of the crimes he's shown doing and society doesn't care it or if it's all in his head because he feels like an imposter.
or, more likely, he's in the top 1% off america and can get away with it, because he's rich.

GOTTA APPRECIATE LIMC KILLING MEMES
Patrick Batemen is a symbol for the underlying regressive anger people have towards this society. Our generation is lost and injured, and it needs a symbol to represent the uphill fight to correct it. We've chosen avatars such as Patrick Bateman and the term "signal male" as a means of indirectly expressing our outrage against our generation and the society it is creating. Patrick in American Psycho represents is a symbol of the breaking of the societal 'mask' and throughout the film as this 'mask' that he and everyone around him wears, starts to slip further and further due to his struggle of suppressing his psychopathic tendencies. Patrick represents being outlier in otherwise the conforming society he lives in, and it's his inate awareness and disgust of his society around him makes Patrick critically relatable in today's and age. And as a result of this hyperinflated feeling of disgust his mask slips even more in a way of almost letting go and outright giving up and confessing to his true self to others in the movie. It's this notion of his uncanny psychopathy and hidden malevolence and disgust about society is what everyone's come to realise now , as parts of Patrick's broken and conformed society is leaking into our own. And by such, his popularity has sky rocketed becoming a staple in modern meme culture. Not just because American Psycho is an iconic and great film , but because in a way more and more people are starting to feel like Patrick Bateman. If you have anything to add I'm all for it but this is my interpretation of the symbol Patrick has come to represent in today's society.
Wow, really nice essay, you should make videos with that kind of critical thinking.

I think what drives the popularity is that it perfectly portrays how the expectations put on one from the world are often at odds with one's personal desires and inner emotions.
