Hey kiddo, Al from Vancouver Canada here, just discovered your channel.
you got some style kid, enjoyed watching your vids. common sense [which is rare] mixed with some great creativity.
Ive been looking for some vids of your C10 finished, i dont see them. i like the progress, keep it up kid, you gained another fan.
I am always surprised how much faith you put in Rust-Oleum products. You use them all the time.
Rust olem paint is a very good product.
Thats awesome that people look out.
That looked pretty kool 2 tone black and that redish color looked good
Your shelving idea are great
Right on! keep em" coming
Beautiful!
Glad someone else thought to tell you to drain the air compressor tank. My 80 gallon will gather quite a bit of water in the bottom.of if after a few sessions of pumping back up. I have a faucet valve on mine.I Need to run a line from it out of my garage so I don't have to keep spraying the corner of my shop like a super soaker.
For the frame I suggest kbs coatings. Its very reasonably priced and comes with everything to clean the rust and encapsulate it. You can paint it on with a brush and levels out to a nice finish. Its about $65 for the complete kit.
I use eastwood acid etch on surface rust or any part i sand blast. Works good on bolts your going to reuse, wire wheel or brush them, put them in a plastic bag and pour some in and let sit for a day. Works great.
Another great video. Keep pumping them out! Any update on the Camaro? Would be interested in any update or future plans, as I used to have a 74 "Type LT".
👍
I too have always been more about the aesthetics than how fast it can go. yes it needs to run good, but i'm not about racing or burnouts and such. i would totally do the diesel swap. keep up the good work.
Nice work bro! It is crazy how dry it is out there in Texas right now! I remember the flooded pics you posted a while back.
How are you liking that spray gun? That t-shirt is baller!
Great tips JOE! I will have to use separate hoses in my new setup!
Those truck beds are heavy! I have never seen an outboard exhaust like that, very cool 😎
Go for the 1.4 Geo Prism swap 😂
So, it looks like that truck has a 5 lug swap done? Disc brakes up front?
Another great video G. I am digging the black for the truck. Are you going to be doing a complete off frame restoration?
Subscribed !!! Keep up the good work...
Thank you! I appreciate the sub 🙏🏼
That Neiko unit is intended to mount on the gun, right before your gun mounted regulator if you use one. It's basically a cleanable version of the disposable orange inline driers but works differently, the orange ones are filled with desiccant and that one uses a filter.
The combination setup is meant to be mounted at the compressor and it filters and adds inline oil. I wouldn't use it for an airline that you use to paint with. If you want to use it as is then split the line coming out of the compressor and run that on one side and only use that line for air tools. What I would do is to mount it on a wall about 20' away or more from your compressor, remove the lubricating side and just run the filter, regulator and pressure gauge. Connect the compressor with it's output set to its maximum pressure, the line between the compressor and the filter will allow some of the water in the line to condense out as the air cools in the line, the filter will catch it and then you regulate down to what pressure you want in the air hose. When you want to run air tools with that line you just put a drop or 2 once a day right in the inlet for the tool, that will be more than enough.
Diesel rat rod pickups are pretty cool. You get way more torque and much lower RPMs than gas, and the end result is you have something that feels like it can move anything, actually has pretty good acceleration with the right gearing and in something as small/light as that '66 will get great fuel economy tuned correctly. I have a Cummins dodge ram which is much bigger than your '66, weighs 4 tons rids on '37's. It will spin its tires mashing the throttle at 30mph, and when driving very carefully I've gotten as high as 28mpg, usually can get about 24 driving it carefully with the right tune in it and even driving around the city with a power tune in it I get around 18mpg.
You're lucky living where it's warm and dry, that truck sitting like that with no paint outside would rot away in a year and the rust would get completely out of control in months here on the east coast. A project like yours couldn't be done outside unless you pretty much stopped and painted any bare metal you expose before you stop for the night, and even in a garage without AC in the summer you'll get surface rust quickly.
FWIW, if you're wondering if you need to run more than one filter, it definitely wouldn't hurt. I run a 2 stage inline filter sort of like the one in that combination unit to get anything that's in the lines out, then I run it through a large desiccant drier, and then the output of that goes through a Motorguard "toilet paper" style filter (in my case all MUCH larger, but I also use my air for a blast cabinet and a plasma cutter, all items that really want dry air).
Before I had that setup I used a single inline filter like the Kobalt one you looked at in Lowes. On hot, muggy days i still got some water sputtering out of the exhausts of my air tools even though my compressor is located in the basement in an air-conditioned space. FWIW, if you're still thinking about that larger Kobalt filter, I had 2 of them burst shooting the filter element through the plastic "bowl" assembly and breaking the protective cage around it. Lowes was good about it and replaced it for free treating it like a hand tool, but I ended up upgrading to a heavier duty unit.
Joe has a good idea there. As good as a gas v8 would sound, a diesel would be cool as hell!
Good job...
they make a tank cleaner about 6.00 at Napa auto zone FYI
You got a good energy about ya. I really enjoy your vids. What are you rubbing on the dry primer at 1:08? Thanks.
I like your paint job. Do you know what the long term effect is with Rustoleum flat black? I want to paint my truck flat black, but I don't want it to look like shit in 3 or 4 years. Thanks for sharing. 😷👍👍
Buen vídeo amigo quedaron bien los fender. Solo se le tira un clearcoat automotric. Y quedan demasiao.saludos me gustan mucho tus videos. ✌️✌️
That shirt👀 I smell merch
cheapest way to go on cleaning rust removal using household vinegar. just use a scrubby and let it dry some. then rinse with water to clean off residue. then when totally dry rinse with water and baking soda to neutralize the acid from vinegar so paint will stick.
👍 👊 😎
Have you tried the flat black with a catalyst or a clear coat over the flat ?
With all that prep and removing the finders, how long could that paint actually last in the sun?
👍
I know it's been awhile since this vid was posted. I've got a question about how your paint. Being that is enamel. Did you find that it was soft once it dried? Would you consider or suggest a harder being added into the paint? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Diesel would be awesome
Lol!! You actually hung your fenders!!
I have a 1969 chevy C/10 truck i want to restore
filter for lines from your friend
The guy in the red shirts talks too much. Lmao 😂. Go with the diesel school bus swap. U won’t regret it.
😂 I read your comment joe and was like man what a butthead, then I saw who made the comment.
I love your idea of the diesel swap btw. If anyone can make it work you'd be the man!
12 valve diesel power plant..
Probably want to put in a 2JZ, turbos, anti-lag, and shoot some flames out of this old truck!
🤔👿
Go for the diesel
Would you be open to a Colab? You should hit up my boy Jose @diygang
Diesel swap !!!!
