that is my hometown and that was my English teacher 1985/86.
kelli Peterson how cool!
Ah that’s awesome! You know any of the Moomey’s? My cousin Bill and Doris lived there in Kearny, NB and my grandpa bob grew up there. It’s a small town!
She likes to hear herself talk, lol.
that's kinda her job
You 5 years old?
My all-time favorite pitcher, Whitey Ford just passed away last month Oct 8, 2020.
What an awesome job as a kid. How cool is that.
Born in Nebraska as well.. love these stories
Seems like a nice man, good for him.
I've always liked her, she has a great personality..
Yes, she does. ARS is my favorite "series" on YT and so much of the appeal to me is the people, the combination of the appraiser and the owner and their combined "chemistry," especially at the dramatic peak - the revelation of and reaction to the valuation. Those are more important to me in how much I like a particular segment like this than the object being appraised or its appraisal value. With those, the ability of the owner and appraiser to "bring the item and its maker/designer/artist to life" with their combined stories is another key part of how much I like it.
Love her and her extensive knowledge of sports.😎
It's an L and a P together for Lawrence Peter (Berra)
Exactly!!!! No way on God's green earth did they just mistakenly put some other initial for Yogi. That is in fact an L and P in unison for his given name ..... Lawrence Peter!
Whitey Ford, Tony Kubek and Enos Slaughter were eating sandwiches in a cab parked at the clubhouse in Grant Park located in South Milwaukee Wisc. in October of 1957. They were in town to play the Braves in the World Series. My two 8 yr old friends and myself (also 8) had been told there were some Yankees eating lunch up by the clubhouse. We went in and all got golf score cards and those little pencil stubs that golfers use to mark the cards. We went to the cab and I looked in and all three were eating their sandwiches and without thinking that I was interrupting their lunch I said "can I get your autographs"? Enos Slaughter sitting next to Whitey Ford in the back put his sandwich down and said "sure thing kid". They all signed, we thanked them, and we left. Instead of being angry about being rudely interrupted by kids while they were eating, they were happy to oblige and unlike todays ballplayers didn't ask for a dime even though they weren't making much in the pros back then. They really don't make them like that any more.
That's a nice story. Thanks for sharing. Whitey Ford was my dad's favorite pitcher growing up as a kid in the 1960's
They don't make anyone like this anymore not just ball players they don't make people in general like they did back ghen
2020-2021 have been huge collection years for sports memorabilia wishes he kept it
Rick: “I’ll give you $1,200 for the pair. Look, I’m going to have to store and sit on them for a couple of years and the auctioning cost are expensive...”
I don't think anyone has ever made that joke on these videos before.....EVER ! Very original
rick would offer at least 40 grand for the pair, not 1,200.
@@thatisamazing912 not likely ...more like $700 for the pr. Gotta sit on them for a few years.
Internet “I’m not sure how a pawn shop works, but I’m going to try to broker a deal for a cherished family heirloom in a market that may or may not have a demand for this item”.
kileysean good one 😂
I was offered Yogi Berra Yankee Jersey from 1979 the year Thurman Munson died and it had the memorial black armband sewn on the sleeve. It was professionally mounted under glass and had a letter with it on Yankee Club stationery. I foolishly passed on it .The guy wanted $1,000.00 for it. Cheap in retrospect... He had tons of stuff, seats, turnstiles, bats, signed baseballs and rooms full of other stuff. Beckett Media bought a bunch, but I did but his Thurman Munson single signed ball and a few signed bats he had
Sounds to me like he might have been in with that famous sports memorabilia counterfeiters in history. I can't think of his name but his stuff was so goid there's still some that passes for the real deal. The certificate was the only way they can't tell if it's his or not the certification paper. I'd be willing to bet if he had that much stuff it was fake
Wonderful!
They will only keep increasing in value
Unfortunately not, younger people don't have the same connection with those players and time marches on
4:03 is when they tell the value
ty
I like to listen to the back stories, it's not all about money
Congratulations
Watching this from Kearney, NE :)
North platte😁
There’s value in importance and importance in value.
Guy: “I saw it’s worth probably $3k so I don’t wanna sell it.”
Expert: “100k for the Yogi…”
Guy: “I’ve got $25k, $25, $25k do I hear $30k, $30k, now $35k, $35k…”
Bet he sold them not long after.
I wonder if he did? He looked like he was having second thoughts about hanging on to them. Maybe he kept the Ford jersey and sold the Yogi one?
I’m related to this guy (uncle) and trust me he didn’t sell them, he also has a safe full of rare rookie cards/signatures that are worth more than these jerseys. When you think of true baseball fans and the pure “love of the game” , that’s him. Ridiculously humble!!!
(He was an ELITE prospect himself out of High School) but he would never tell you that because he’s the nicest person you’ll ever meet.
great jerseys, great men, God bless America !
Why is she saying it's been worn and altered like it's a bad thing? I mean it's a jersey worn by legends....isn't that what you would want instead of some old jersey in perfect condition that you would not be sure if the player ever worn it
Did you actually WATCH the video? The guy has the jerseys because he was clubhouse boy for the minor league team that the Yankees passed their used jerseys to to save money. If it was altered it would have been so it would fit someone OTHER than the person driving the value of the item.
It's all about the crazy world of collectibles - each type or category of item has different "rules" for what the collectors want. I used to be a dealer and collector and even then, still never made sense of it all. Because there really is no common sense or logic involved - it's purely based on what someone will pay who really wants something. At a certain point, the only "logic" involved is expected appreciation and re-sale/auction value at the time the collector would want to sell it. The other part of the "illogic" is pure ego - collectors want the top "bragging rights" for who has the most desirable and expensive collection. That even includes museums who are competing against each other for prestige, and as a result, donations from wealthy patrons. No real logic to any of it - you just have to jump into the market and kind of "sense" your way through it rather than reason your way. For a dealer or appraiser, so much of it is based on prior or "comparable" sales, kind of like the real estate market.
I would say the Berra may fetch closer to 200,000 due to the fact of the MVP prominence.
Were you trying to type provenance?
@@teodelfuego Yes I thought I messed the word up thanks for the clarification. What does prominence mean exactly?
@@ColwellNC1309 means you can't spell at all.
@@MikeSmith-cn6ub thanks for adding nothing to the conversation I hope making fun of me makes you feel better you keyboard warrior you!!!
@@ColwellNC1309 you asked what prominence meant. Thats what it means. So you ask I tell you and I'm the bad guy. Wow look it up if you don't belive me.
I would bet that the Yogi jersey would sell for more than 100k at auction. Probably double that.
Definitely!
"My appraised value is $130,000...Now, I know you're not wanting to sell these..." "Well, uh, let's not rule anything out..!"
Oh my
$ 130,000thats one great way to start enjoying retirement! Though the jerseys will no longer be in his possession (should he sell) ; they will CERTAINLY go to someone that will ensure their is secure and safe for generations to come.
She couldn’t figure out that stitch said y.l 🐻 🤦♂️✌️
But can the Whitey jersey take a soft pretzel without incident?
He sells em
2:46 "...won 10 World Championships..."
I forget....what other World Countries were they playing?
I know you joke but it actually makes sense for today's game. People come from all over the world to play in the MLB and minor leagues.
I thought the guy was going to faint there after the $100k appraisal for the Yogi Berra shirt.
Honestly, I feel like he expected it. I knew I called it before I clicked on the video.
@@deathbymonkies2305 You don't know a genuine reaction when you see one.
At least she said Kearney correctly
He pays insurance for 20 years, passes away; 2040: kids sell it for $200k.
When he passes away so do most of the buyers. Try to get somebody under 40 to pay anything for them
Original uniforms were many. Originals are in the Hall of Fame. Very very common. Way way way overestimated.
Yeah... you're supposed to overestimate when you're coming up with a figure for insurance purposes.
There's many of them find me a couple ill give you 10k finders fees
On Whitey's uniform, did the take a female mannequin and turn it around?
...Whoever improvised that fix should get a raise!
btw - good eye Sean Lee
Either that or Whitey Ford had boobs for shoulder blades.
rip yogi and ford forever yankees 😇🙏⚾
ford is pitching to yogi in heaven
God talk about the holy grail
Does anyone wonder what these people are in line for?
They're lining up to the appraisal counter... your first stop upon arrival essentially.
And what will $120K of insurance cost?
when they won the World series, what other countries played rounders, sorry baseball?
Time for you to go back to watching your cricket matches old bean.
@@praketingrichraft6181 here fishy fishy
@@Davesunflower lol
I thought she was going to value it as an archive at $1 Million, again. 😂
The Official Andy Saenz lmfao!!!
how do you know if its legit?
Mysterious Laptop He said he was a clubhouse boy
Mysterious Laptop stitching and such will show if its actually authentic
stitching is good, type of material. theres also photomatching its a technique where they compare the items to photos of the athletes and looj for matching details
jersey would be way cooler with 2 more ks
Did she really call the Yankees a multi-million dollar club today???!!!? Lol... Woman they are worth just under $5,000,000,000!!!!!
One of the last shows. We’re there is no swearing and no drama
Those woman and man in the back look like they've never seen a shirt before!
I'd bet they've never seen any worth 130k..lol
100k? Yeah, right. 250k easy. Yankee fans are crazy, and it doesn't get better than that jersey.
Noisy people in the background
3,000 lol nice try😂😂😂
Only reason the clubhouse boys wanted these jobs is because of the bats and balls. He said he did not really care about the jerseys( lol SURE) BUT HE GOT THESE TWO JERSEYS. " I did not care" what a joke!
Well people didn't know this stuff would've be worth this money down the road. That's why nothing from today will be worth a dime because everyone is going to save it therefore it won't be worth a dime
Phillip your obviously young because Noone knew this stuff would be worth anything down the road to
Imagine how much a Messi signed jersey will be worth in a 100 years time
Ridhuan Abu Bakar lol nothing there will be thousands
It won't matter. No one will care anymore
Ridhuan Abu Bakar probably not even close to the price this would be.
Who is Messi?
@@petewatson4353 the greatest athlete of all time.
I bet he donates it to baseball hall of fame like a dope
Just think how piss-poor museums and hall of fames would be like if no-one donated anything. I hope he does donate them.
@@alisonwunderland9900 they don't get donations the museums buy this stuff because there charchingbto enter. Ever been to museum they aren't cheap anymore
Wonder who told her they would send the uniforms down to minor leagues?? I swear I just heard that.
Good call man as young man.
Buy yourself something nice.
But buy your wife something nicer.
and the elite, and pro athletes today make 100k in a week. sad to see regular people ecstatic over 100k and athletes today wear 100k on a pinky finger. I hate rich people
I hate idiots.
Capitalism 101. Are you mad that peak humans who perform in billion dollar entertainment industries get paid more money than you? You hate these people for doing a job that very few kn the planet can do? And just btw, it's not even 100K, elite MLB pitchers make 1M per game lol and the only play 25-35 times a year lol. 10K to throw 1 pitch, they throw about 100 per game. That's 1,000,000 dollars per game played.....for 7 years 😭🤣😭🤣😭
Too funny, Yogi Bear and Whitey Ford are both fictional characters. Fictional means not real. Yogi was a cartoon character and Whitey is a pseudonym of Everlast who is best known as the singer for House of Pain. Neither played professional baseball ever.
Really you are obviously about 11 or 12 years old hey.
