This felt like 2 people making balance changes, 1 was drunk and the other was genuinely trying to balance, they looked at fry’s tier list and just looked at f,d,a and s tiers and never heard why they were good/bad.

that is actually somewhat close to what happened. There was one person that made the balance changes, they were all stupid, and there was another person that had good balance idea. But only a few of those good ideas made it through as the person with the dumb balance ideas had control over it.
You really have to keep in mind that ability changes were not included. Dumb stuff like the bean counter nerf are probably counterbalanced by a buff to it's ability (maybe it gets +2 stats now) that we just don't see on this graphic. We need to wait and see

The year is 2032. PvZ Heroes has collapsed into a state of madness. Every ranked match is between plants and Smash Pets, and Pets always win. The number of homeless Guardian Pacakage users rises exponentially. Budget-Aggro Solar Flare players have united with Grass Knuckles players, taking to the streets in violent protests, constantly being silenced by Teleport-Mechasaurs. Rumors have that an underground faction of 1-Cost Puff Shrooms and Weenie Beanies plan to overthrow the superior Pet deck government.
My thoughts on some balance changes:
-If puff-shroom goes up to 1 cost, it instantly removes its entire purpose. Puff-shroom is supposed to be the iconic 0 cost, but now it’s kinda worthless.

Just doesnt make sense as a nerf anyways. Better off straight up removing it than adding another 1-1 1 cost no useful ability card. All other team up plants outclass it now

As FlowerMan said, these changes probably were not finished and ability or text changes could come, that would explain changes like 1/1 bean counter (like it would get +2+2 per bean maybe). I still wouldn't get some of the changes though, like for example what text would make the 8/8 mechasaue change make sense?
Either way though I'm really hyped for the changes.

Something very interesting is happening to this game, with the recent changes to the app, different pack events, new daily challenges and now possible balancing changes
It seems like they are putting a little effort in the game, maybe to see if there is still interest in the game in order to fully continue development (though it could also be one dude in popcap that was a little bored)
The Janitor finishes his shift early to sneak onto the popcap computers to make some secret changes

I like the part where they buffed Cheesecutter by making Leftovers and Coffee way better

@@aaronconvery Goat is now mega viable, it's basically like the Lil' Buddy + Pepper MD combo in the plants side but with Zoologist and Goat, Zoologist becomes so difficult to remove that it makes Goat so dangerous even as just a 3/1.
Plus if you played Cat Lady on Turn 1, and then Zoologist + Goat on two, you have 3 threats on the board by turn 2, it's madness, they can't deal with all of them. And then there's Leftovers + another minion in turn 3, it's practically GG.
Which slides in nicely with Secret Swimmer Combo as well.
Whether it be Flag Swarm, Trick-Smash, Secret Swimmer, or a Pet Deck. The ramifications of these buffs sets up Beastly and Hearty to be the best early game domination classes.

All other zombies get +1/+1

one thingy - guardian isn't FULLY dead , because citron amphibius decks exist , and with these buffs do effect quite a lot of those cards so , countertron may fall , but citron may end up holding up the guardian class from being completely useless

Remember, there are also balance changes in the form of text coming, so maybe cards like bean counter will be better when it gets fully changed

Leftovers becoming literally zombie version of the plant's Storm Front superpower is... something for sure. Hearty is definitely going to dominate after this. Nerfing Photosynthesizer to cost 2 instead of 1 makes a lot of frail answers like forget-me-nuts much harder to use to counter zombie trick spam, and black eyed pea can't handle tricks as well either. As a plant player I'm pretty unhappy that buffs were insignificant, and nerfs were pretty big to a lot of key cards. But at the very least, metas will finally shift around!
They should have nerfed synchronized swimmer to a 0 / 0

I watched RCCH’s video about this and felt so terrible afterwards and didn’t want the patch at all, but then watching fry’s stream made me so much more excited for it! (Also his voice is MUCH less annoying).

It seems like most people in the comments are not realizing that these balance changes only show the changes to stats, NOT abilities. Cards like bean counter and puff shroom will likely get ability changes/reworks to make up for their bizarre changes
This patch has buffed summoning by a lot. As a control immorticia main, one of the biggest problems is haunted pumpking, and then summoning gets a 1 attack minion and I have to burn another card the next turn. All the 2 health agro cards being nerfed to one health is huge for summmoning and nibble, huge immorticia buff
Leftover is literally lunchbox but better now. I’ve thought about this nerf before this video and thought “ that would just make lunchbox horrible “ but if they made lunchbox 0 cost then I’d be happy. I think that’s a good chabge

Fry, what do you think about the disparity between the plant and zombie strengths now? Feels like the strongest plant strategy will likely be amphibious, with heal also maybe being viable (although it was nerfed through cob cannon)
Just to clarify, what I meant by the zombie strength disparity is something others have pointed out :
Some of the strongest plant strategies/classes were heavily nerfed, while some of the already-strong zombie classes (especially brainy and hearty) got massively buffed.
Imagine Cosmoss on turn 1 and then playing 3 hot lavas, and the opponent played something like an Imposter, or Leprechaun imp etc
Blow gun imp getting a 1 health buff, kangaroo getting a buff, and primal wallnut getting a 1 health nerf is the biggest bruh moment I've experienced this entire decade. Like I'm not even exaggaerating.
And 1 ho nerf to synchronised swmer XD

I'm convinced the buffs were by a crazy type zombie main. There are so many nerfs to plants that give them only 1hp. Zmech super and barrel got buffed from these changes for sure.

I will say that even if a lot of these changes are… questionable to say the least, it will change the meta enough for new top tier decks to be discovered and finally break us out of the monotony we were craving. Plus, we don’t know any of the ability changes yet, so we can look forward (which is generous) to that!

Puffshroom nerf will completely ruin the card, honestly, even budget players won't have a reason to run it because of shellery and wallnut. Although, some people are saying that text/ability changes aren't shown here, so if it *does* receive some sort of buff via text it better be HUGE otherwise it will go straight from S tier to F.
Cob Cannon had a long-awaited and well deserved nerf. Way too strong and its secondary ability just shreds big cards, removing all your tempo.
Secret Swimmer's nerf proves that the people in charge of this balance patch have never played the game.
Pogo's nerf is useless, it's still OP.
Elderberry's nerf is fine, though it'll still be good.
Haunted Pumpking doesn't deserve to go underneath four attack due to the fact that it does draw your opponent a card so it needs that high reward factor. 4/1 is balanced.
Black Eyed Pea is surprising tbh, the card will most likely be very below average now and I see it struggling to even be included in control decks. Though it'll still work good with onion rings, 4/4 that punishes for a trick.
Amphibious cards got buffed insanely. Seriously, try fighting the Final Boss Citron on Zombie missions, that dude's amphibious spam is already annoying enough, now that strategy has the potential to work in multiplayer. 4/4 Navy Bean also dodges wrath. Speaking of wrath.... goodbye wrath, hello Cakesplosion!
The fact that Zombology Teacher + Hearty Treat spam didn't get nerfed in any way is disappointing to me, honestly. It's just too good with going viral as well. Although I'm glad they're trying to revive the bad hearty cards.
Sizzle's buff is going to make it into the same problem as modern-day Cob Cannon. Way too powerful, especially for its cost. Lava Guava's buff is deserved. Kabloom is now an INSANELY great control class. Hm. Interesting. SEEDLING GOT BUFFED??!! Oh my.
HAHAHHAHA, pathetic guardian package users are now going to find alternatives. Tricarratops meta is no more (I hope). Spikeweed might just be the worst plant environment now. Even force field will do more for its cost.

Some of the nerfed cards were strong, but they're also fun to play and it's sad seeing them killed (tricarrot is now worst legendary and 2 drop contender) and most of the buffs were random and pretty mediocre, if not bad.

What I noticed is the decent budget cards got a huge nerf on both sides. Like Flemco and budget Solar flare.
Spikeweed sector may suck as a control card, but it's kind of oppressive for tempo. It increases the threshold for chump blocking by a lot and a minion that would die to it usually just prevents you from blocking that lane that turn (outside of encrypt or some hearty cards or another environment) against a class with some of the most busted bulleye cards.
i dont think a game left to rot for 5 years that gets an update as soon as their biggest content creator moves on is a coincidence.And they killed aggro solar flare.

Biggest plot twist of 2024
Hoi, just to leave this here as a discovery one of my brothers made (it isn’t anything too surprising tho):
A few weeks ago, my brother was playing a random match against a nightcap, had his planet of the grapes environment, and ran for some reason squirrel herder. When squirrel was revealed, it was able to remove the planet of the grapes environment, which was surprising for me, but made sense
It’s the only way to kill an environment without replacing it I think.

the fact that this game has a substantial update after so many years is monumental. i literally got so starved for new content that i started modding the game, and now they're actually throwing us a bone
Mechasaur being top tier would be so fun, I'd love to see rng being meta, also finally guardian package and solar getting nerfed is gonna make the game more fun probably

Instead of Electrician becoming a three strength, two health. It became a two strength, THREE health. Totally the opposite of what I thought was better, but survival is more easier and that’s always good. Same with Landscaper, though at the start I thought health was better anyway.
honestly 3/2 would be way too strong imo, it could just be run as an independent aggro card at that point with no synergy
3/2 Electrician would be one of the best cards of the game, it would kill like 90% of plants (even with health buff) and become a propper aggro card, I'd like that change because things cant be more broken than the 1/4 conman and bullseye blob meta, Super Brainz was busted unironically, but I'd like him to be strong again, coz he has two top tier superpowers and one which you never use.

There is a really huge swarm deck buff in Hearty
We can use Lost Colosseum or Flag Zombie on 2 and Con Man play on 3 in Z-mech deck with teacher and free leftovers
Must do a Captain Combustible deck around Invasive Species, imagine this scenario:
- Coffee Grounds on turn 2.
- Invasive Species + Blazing Bark on turn 3 (16 damage on TURN 3!)
- Time to Shine on turn 4 for the win.
Only REAL answers on turn 4 are Pogo Zombie, Rocket Science, Dolphinado and Backyard Bounce. Anything else trades, is too situational or straight up loses the trade!
Also just playing TEMPO on turn 4 after the combo (Repeat Moss, B-Rex, Split Pea, Podfather, Imitator) or CONTROL (Banana Bomb, Berry Blast, Sizzle, Banana Peel) would be INSANE pressure and no doubt, meta defining.
