I'm done with Nissan after this
I agree I have been through 3 transmissions and now I have to change the starter cause it keeps blowing the fuseable link on the positive battery terminal so annoying!
On my 1993 Pontiac sunbird, there was only the alternator to be removed, not half the engine 😅 this car must have been designed by a Nissan service manager.
You guys think this is bad I had to move a guys engine around after pulling the mounts and rad fans in a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta tdi to replace alternator.. took me 9-12 hours in the pouring rain and the dark.. I had light power but the lining the engine up part was horrid
I did one before and uhhh took the whole front end off. Radiator condenser and all.
This is cake work you obviously don’t take on any intricate jobs.
My gosh. I just now finished taking it out. Took me about 3 nd a half hrs. Nd that’s with experince on working on cars for about 1 year now

This job right here, for the 2013 Pathfinder is the ONLY time I have ever paid someone to replace an alternator on a vehicle I owned... and it's happened twice now. The next time, it goes to the scrap pile.

To get the connector to come out easier, use WD40. Spray the connector and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes. The connector should be way easier to remove from the alternator! Hope this helps anyone doing this darn job😂
I wish you would've showed the top bolt of the alternator being removed.

@@pandydiyI just got it down to 2 and a half hours for removal and install. I’ve had bad luck with alternators from auto parts stores as of late. Replaced the alternator 4 or 5 times in the past year on this car. Found a supplier who supplies brand new ones instead of remans. Hopefully this one does the trick. Either way it’s not a fun job.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase a new one? I replaced mine 6 months ago and now it's toast. It was an acdelco reman. Can't wait to get rid of this POS.

What size is the bottom alternator bolt 14MM?
I have a 2013 that has the battery light and the brake light on new battery still doing it we just bought this Pathfinder it was running fine and then it started doing this any help would be greatly appreciated or if you've ever experienced a symptom of the car not wanting to move just literally crawling and then out of nowhere I don't want to take off thanks in advance
A low voltage can cause all kind of electical, performance issues as car engine or transmission goes. You need to test your alternator to see if it gives proper charge or not. A good alternator should keep car running even when battery terminals are removed.
Next time take the catalitic converter off more efficiently 😊
I prefer not to touch the cat converter last thing I need is broken exhaust bolts

My volts on my 2014 V6 Pathfinder shows 14.3 when I cut on the engine & while driving but if I idle with the a.c on full blast for a few minutes volts goes as low as 11.9, is my alternator going bad?
@WillieFufu-lo1nb I'm unsure if it's going out or not. Alternators have voltage regulators which determine the Alternator output request. If battery is full and car feels that it doesn't need all 14V charge then the charge level is reduced so it doesn't overcharge. I would assume you have problem when you have poor crank condition. I would have battery tested first and if battery is good then I would suspect poor charge from alternator.

I pulled mine also. My colors are yellow and white. I’m replacing it with a pigtail connector but it has 3 blacks wires. I don’t what to do now. Help!

If you don't mind me asking when your alternator was messed up was the truck lagging and then it would take off good and then you press the gas and it just doesn't want to go at all until it wants to?
Mine did that.
That's what ours is doing were hoping changing this annoying alternator will fix that

Video was helpful but this is NOT an “easy” job. It’s a pain in the ass and the only way to make it easy is to pay someone else to do it or pull the engine entirely, 0/10 if your alternator goes out on this car trade it in for anything else
@Haeoem hahah, I agree, it's always easy to pay someone to feel your pain my friend, but broke people like me we have to eat the pain
I'm watching this video because my friends Pathfinder has a bad alternator.
As for myself, before I buy a vehicle the first thing I do is look under the hood.
If everything is packed down under the engine I shut the hood and move on to other vehicles. Makes life so much easier.

What I did was I looked up same alternator from ebay , a used one and found one that still had wire harness on to identify which wire suppose to be on which side. I recommend you doing same
I only have 2 wires from car white and yellow but the new alternator pigtail has 3 black wires???
This is not the proper procedure for replacing alternator & you will only be able to remove & will NOT be able to replace it
Sorry but what are you talking about ? I obviously replaced it while making the video
For proper procedure you go Nissan dealer and pay them 1500 dollars for labor and maybe $500 for alternator.
