  • Thank you for tunning into my channel. In this video I tested plaster and spackling to see the difference between the two. I came to the conclusion that the plaster is better for textured abstract piece than the spackling. I really hope you enjoyed this video.

    Regarding the plaster, I saw somewhere, that it would be smoother if you mix it with PVD glue and some acrylic paint, so 3 mixture, in the ratio of 4:2:1, plaster, PVD glue and Acrylic paint.

    I also heard that if you dry in the sun, it may crack faster. Better to let them dry in room temperature. Please tell us which one cracked faster and how to avoid them from cracking if that is possible. Thank you.

    Thank you so much. I just picked up the plaster today. It's also cheaper than Spackle

    Thank you very much for this video Neicy. I keep worrying why you don't close the lid of the Filler as air causes it to dry faster, doesn't it?

    I love you wiping onto your sleeves. It's like a badge of honor. Lol.
    I use that compound plaster often. I found that if I use the flat blade spreader to smooth the plaster smashing it down back and forth it's easier snd faster. Also I use that to make my "gesso". I add water and acrylic paint til I get the consistency I want. It does tend to dry up fast, though.

      I might have to start making my own gesso as well to save money 😄

    The spackling probably comes off the canvas because it had nothing to adhere to.. try it again putting gesso over the canvas first.. let it dry, then do the spackling

    Did you notice any cracks in the spackling or plaster when it dried? I used plaster and I noticed small cracks once it dried. I want to try lightweight spackling to see if it cracks when it dries as well.

    • @neicygoldenarts
      @neicygoldenarts  Před 2 lety +5

      I wouldn't recommend lightweight spackling because it peels off the canvas very easily.... Instead you can use modeling paste or plaster of Paris powder and mix it yourself with water to create a paste.

    You should use the larger spreader to mix it. The painting knife is too small
