I tried to cover all aspects to help anyone (regardless of past experience) swap out their kitchen faucet saving money compared to calling in a plumber. If you have questions about your specific situation just let me know in the comments and I would be happy to help.

    Yesterday, 3/4/2024, I went to my local hardware store and just so happened to buy the exact same model as you show in this video. Before installing the faucet, I thought I would see if there were any CZcams videos out there that might show some helpful tips on installing one of these. Your video came up. The best tip was about the tool that you used to tighten down the plastic washers under the sink. I didn't have one of those and I didn't feel like driving back to the store to buy one. If they did have one. So, I found an old piece of plastic plumbing pipe that I had laying around that just so happened to be the right size I needed. I cut 4 notches in it with my rotary tool and basically made the same tool that you showed in the video and saved myself a trip back to the store. I never would have thought of doing that if I hadn't seen your video. Thank You for posting it.

    Thank you so much for this video. I bought the same Delta Faucet at Home Depot back in June 2022 but didn't have the nerve to install it. Well, your video was my guardian angel and the only problem was uninstalling the old delta faucet. That took me over three hours. But installing the "new" faucet was not that hard following your instructions. It was quite quick. Thank you again!👍

    Salutations kind sir, the plumber for my housing unit was unavailable and I decided to replace the kitchen faucet myself. Thank you, sir. This video is incredibly helpful. Your patience is commendable, as well. I fought with the removal for about an hour and a half. By the end, it was "whatever works to get the old out!" including cutting the supply lines that were too difficult to remove at the threads and cranking the old faucet with a pipe wrench. (I felt like a contortionist under the sink. The whole process would be a lot easier, but for this part of the job!) But my pile of junk was similar to yours, perhaps a bit more messy.

I planned on calling a plumber this week to replace valve and just go ahead and replace faucet. Then I learned they have water valve repair kits. What?? Game changer! I love your channel. Your very slow and thorough so thank you. Im getting ready to install one that has a pull down sprayer and it has a kind of ushaped piece with a metal gasket on top that goes around the lines to mount the base to the sink. Im not sure how this holds it down but I guess it does ha ha. Oh it has two screws that tighten from the bottom up. I am a little leary about the still water lines that comes with the faucet and looping them without pinching them. I wish they had the old type braided lines that are so flexible and so much easier to work with.

  • @oregoncoast3971
    @oregoncoast3971 Před 3 lety +2

    Very thorough and understandable instructions! Awesome tutorial. Two suggestions: (1) I thought that after hand tightening the compression nut on the supply line, you're supposed to use a wrench to tighten another another quarter turn or so. Obviously, your lines didn't leak. So hand tightening sufficient for your install. (2) Personally, I wouldn't feel safe/comfortable using a recip saw to cut out a frozen nut at the top. A dremel tool with a small cutting wheel may be easier and safer in the tight space directly underneath the faucet. One question...why do you prefer the Rigid multi-tool over the more standard basin wrench? I've never seen that Rigid tool, but it looks very cool. Thanks for a great video!

    • @ccbowers
      @ccbowers Před 2 lety +1

      Basin wrench is needed for older stuck and/or corroded nuts, but doesn't really work as well for large modern plastic nuts with wings. These faucet tools are pretty useful if doing multiple faucets. They don't really replace a basin wrench completely, and aren't essential but are more convenient for the situations they can be used

    Nice tutorial. Question: re the faucet plates/base usually the same size? Don’t need to worry about measuring?

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs  Před 3 lety

      Hey Larry, yeah the trim, handle direction, and reach/extension of the spout into the sink can vary a bit but the mounting hole placement is a standard size for kitchen faucets. If you are doing a bathroom vanity sink be a little more careful since there are 4 inch and 8 inch spacing for the mounting holes. Best of luck with your project. 👍

    Good video, but with that said, when I went underneath my sink, it is a mess of pipes. I don't see a shut off for hot and a shut off for cold but one shut off that goes towards the sink and another one that looks like it goes to the dishwasher. Any thoughts on that?

    • @mikehoncho7226
      @mikehoncho7226 Před 4 měsíci

      The one to the dishwasher would be hot. Is there a TEE after the valve so that closing it would turn off water to both the faucet and the DW? Sometimes those valves have two outlets.

    @nathanielaranda8407 Před 2 lety

    just a good rule of thumb, 99% of the time the hot shut off is on the left and the cold is on the right. that's the standard setup in north America :)

    Scott, I followed this for a successful installation last month. Much better than the enclosed instructions or Delta’s website! Yesterday there was a serious leak. I took everything out and crawled under the sink. It’s running from up in the faucet area where all of the supply lines were pre-connected. I’m at a loss. Will I need to get another unit?

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs  Před 4 lety +2

      Hey Peggy, If this were me I would probably look for a video on removing the cartridge valve to see if a rubber o-rings had damage or check if there was a crank in the housing which both can lead to leaks in the area. With that said this can take you down a rabbit hole of troubleshooting. The best course of action for you to get back up and running would probably be to do the same install for a 2nd time. I am fairly confident either the big box store, Amazon, or Delta will help swap the old faucet out for a new one considering the failure happened within a few months and should be covered under the limited warranty. Feel free to also jump over to our Facebook group “Everyday Home Repairs Community” where you could post pics / videos of your specific issue and we could help work through the fix.

    I recently had a Delta 2 handle kitchen faucet with sprayer installed and when I turn the faucet on there is a Klunk noise, Delta's instruction say to remove the diverter and run the water, but I can not remove the diverter, I told them this and they are sending me a new diverter and sprayer, I am not sure how I will install this as I can not remove the existing diverter, can you help with instructions for that?

      Hi Elyse, I think this video czcams.com/video/XORzLC_c1oA/video.html might demonstrate how to remove the diverter valve on the Delta 2 handle kitchen faucet. The only issue I saw is he made a custom tool which helped with the removal. Is Delta going to send a tool which helps remove the diverter valve?

    How tight does the supply lines to the shut off valve need to be?

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs  Před 3 lety

      Make sure the line is coming into the shutoff valve straight (if you don't you might things are tight but they aren't) then tighten down holding on to the shutoff valve with another set of channel locks or wrench. You will want to apply a reasonable amount of torque but nothing crazy.

    Scott something strange happened after I connected the same Delta faucet model to my kitchen sink. I connected it and it was working fine. I used the sprayer once and shut off the water after and when I returned later and turned on the water the water pressure was flowing with half the force it was before.
    Any idea what it could be? I live in a mid-rise condo and the hot/cold and main shut off valve are under the sink. Could it be that the sprayer isn't seated properly?

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs  Před 3 lety

      Hey Juan, and that was the water pressure coming from the main faucet or the sprayer was about half the pressure?

    • @juanrosa683
      @juanrosa683 Před 3 lety +1

      The water pressure from the faucet is reduced to less than half flow but the water from the sprayer is at full force. The water pressure is reversed. I think the diverter is malfunctioning.
