I remember playing this as a kid and not understanding one single detail of the plot. I just remember the battles I fought and some of the magic some characters could use.

YESS BRO ! I been looking for this for so long and my little kid brain memory had me thinking it was dynasty warriors until I recently released Command & Conquer is called a RTS 🤦🏽♂️
Legend has it that Cao Cao's betrayal was due to the repeated and blatant mispronunciation of his name 😂😂😂

This one is much better than the third one,in my opinion. On the surface it looks kind of shallow,but it's actually very intricate. For example,when you set a path with the arrow to guide a unit,each little break in the arrow is a point where the unit slows momentum to pivot. I got to a point where I would keep the breaks to a minimum and my forces were a lot quicker. Like I said,it's more detailed than it might appear. Also, the camera angle above the units when they're traveling into battle is epic. This game is amazing.

The sound would bug out on my copy and I would get Zhuge Liang casting with Himiko's audio. 10/10
I see people being rather annoyed with this being nothing like the Romance Of The Three Kingdoms even though Dynasty Warriors exist. This is meant to be an entirely different take of the Three Kingdoms story, I mean...they make Liu Bei and Cao Cao sworn brothers in this. Even as a kid I immediatley understood this is meant to be a different adaptation, especially when I played this after playing DW4. Anyways, this is one of the PS2 games of all time in my eyes.
Damn. I must have been about 8 when I first picked this up at a used game store. Didn’t understand what was going on but it looked cool as fuck.
So glad I’ve finally been able to find out what the game was called

Well, this may be the same, tired old damsel in distress cliche, but at least the plot makes a good reason for it. It's not just the standard, "Oh, the villain was in love with the girl, so he kidnapped her" story, She actually has strategic value due to her secret, and it would make sense for his army to want to keep her away from the enemy.
Now a Days The Damsel in Distress thing is Considered SJW's Blackface.
I just spent an hour trying to find this game, my dad bought this for ps2 when i was a kid and i spent countless hours playing this
Bro this game brings back so many memories. I bought it on sale when i was like 10 years old and couldnt stop playing it.
If For Honor 2 had a single player mode like this, I would buy it in a heart beat.
But nah for honor is focused on online pvp

To be fair, the actual pronunciation given to their names by the Chinese are not accurate, the fact is no one actually knows how to say their names. The only "proper" way we have is the translations into Mandarin.

The original kessen was the best. Alot of the stuff they added to # 2 and #3 kinda took away from what made the original so great. Especially all the sorcerer spells and different controls.
Watched my dad play this as a kid and had no idea what was going on 😂

it still pisses me off that Zhang Fei's eldest daughter, Mei Mei was killed not only was she beautiful but she would've been great in battle

They should remake this game with the characters and story from the manga Kingdom.
Kessen 2 is loosely based on the Three Kingdoms some of the characters in Kessen 2 were real people (including Cao Cao and Liu Bei) in reality Zhuge Liang was a politician, not a sorcerer also in reality Xun Yu, a member of Cao Cao's army was actually a guy, not a woman also in reality Liu Bei didn't defeat Cao Cao in reality Cao Cao defeated Liu Bei and also in reality it was either Cao Cao's son or grandson was defeated by Sun Quan

This story is fake Liu bei,zhange fei and guan yu fell in love eith her but guan yu kill her where is lu bu she loves him and liu bei loves sun Shang wtf this story doesn't make sense how come liu bei didn't die and how come cao cao didn't die where is liu shan in this story and cao pi some character must die im just saying it's really good game and good strategy

the magic attacks are very VERY useful without the magic attacks the battles would've been harder to win
We needed spells the game battles would drag out to long its like like the combat was like dynasty warriors slashing dozens of ppl all the time
