  • Fished Hat Creek with a few days of warm weather, a nice break between all the rain we've been getting. Surprisingly there were no real hatches, just a few flies emerging here and there.
Donna O'Sullivan used her favorite LTS Finesse 8ft6 4wt fly rod, LTS Polyline WF4F, and LTS Color2 3/4wt reel, with a dry and dropper setup. The trout were mostly taking the dropper in the mornings when it starts warming up, and the occasional take on the dry.
In the evening, there were some flies hatching and it was a different fly each night. So, success hinged on selecting the right fly. Nothing worked Tuesday night until Donna put on her own #14 mahogany parachute dun that seemed to match the March Browns coming off. Good sized trout were aggressively grabbing that fly. What an absolute thrill and great finish for the day!
