Fly Fishing the Dunajec River, Day 5 - Jun 21, 2024
The last day of our trip to the Dunajec River, Poland. Guide Wojtek Kudlacz took Mai and I to another great section of the river.
I started streamer fishing with my LTS Nitro 9ft 6wt with LTS SCSS-1H S123 Scandi head, and LTS Complete 40# shooting. On the 2nd cast, with just the line out and a couple of short strips, BAM, a large trout grabbed one of the streamers!
With Wojtek's help, and a feisty run by this big boy, we landed a buge brown that absolutely made Donna's day, being the 2nd largest brown trout of the trip. Mai did really well euro nymping and caught several nice browns,

Day 4 of our trip started with a much colder morning. We euro nymphed and Donna did her best with 5 fish landed, guided by Maciej Kudlacz. It was great to catch some nice browns! Fished Hat Creek on some warm days up to the mid 80's F. Hatches started early in the morning, with tricos and caddis, other flies, a smorgasbord of flies for the trout. It was a slow day on Hat Creek that morning, and the wind really picked up. Donna O'Sullivan switched to her Tenkara Tanuki Ninja II fly rod with 2 bead head euro nymphs. Fishing the faster water on the riffle was effective, got 5 takes, 2 fish on and one landed. A fun end for the day before heading home!

Started fishing Baum Lake around 5pm, fish were rising and rolling at the riffle. After trying various dry and dropper combinations, Donna O'Sullivan figured out the trout wanted midges in size 20. Many thanks to my friend Eric for taking me to his fishing spot on Upper Hat Creek. It has been many years since I have been there, and it's great to fish it again! Eric caught a nice brown to start with, and I managed 2 nice rainbows on my euro nymph setup. What a fun afternoon trying something different.

The Tuolumne River has been around 355 cfs and fishable! Donna O'Sullivan fished from late morning till dusk with a dry and dropper setup on her LTS Finesse 8ft6 4wt fly rod. Fished the Upper Sacramento on my way home.
