@@jimjamjon2285 yeah but itâs thinner than what apple had in 2017
I've had my s22 for a whole day before just now seeing your review, and couldn't agree more with what you had to say about it. Battery, very decent. Not amazing, but good. Camera, takes some great pictures. Better than my s10. UI, much more appealing than my s10. Device is sleek, comfortable, fast, reliable, and overall I'm pleased
How would you recommend the s22 now after having it for a while? Im thinking of buying
@@maccasmgg123 after a few days of heavy use, it is a good phone. No real complaints. The battery is good for every day use, but when doing anything like gaming, you really can take lots out of the battery pretty quick. It feels comfortable in the hand. I'm not a fan of not having an SD card slot, or a headphone jack. Sad to see Samsung going the way of Apple.
@@snivelyk can you share your experience as of now after 2 weeks?
im buying it tomorrow as my first phone
@@hwiatslgeord2887 did you buy it? I bought one a few days ago and yes the phone is great, but the battery... it's really bothering me. I mostly surf the Web and use WhatsApp and CZcams and the battery simply won't last thru an entire day.
One other thing is the network signal. I've never had any issues at home but now with the S22 it is very low. Tried the sim card on two other phones at home and it was fine so it is definitely a phone issue.
Quick question: Should i pick the s22 if i am gonna use it for 4 years ?
I went from an S7 to this, huge upgrade! My S7 finally broke after 6 years. The S22 is roughly the same size as my S7, I don't want to go any bigger than this!
Waiting for my S5 to die. I have been replacing the batteries. Performance is... I'm used to it.

I'm not a Samsung guy, but the S22 design looks so clean and really nice this year. I prefer the S22 design over the S22 Ultra for once.
My thoughts exactly. I absolutely despise huge screens and curved edges and the S22 looks damn gorgeous.
@@GB-um9oc Yeah it's not a design refresh, it's like the iPhone 13 where there's minor tweaks to the design from the iPhone 12 to make it better.

Just wanted to thank you for providing the insight you provide. I was in the market for a new phone, and watching this review among 20 other reviews from other creators made me decide on the S22. Ordered it last night in green on Google Fi! You make incredibly compelling content and you've made me a lifelong viewer.
Keep up the great work, man.
What plan did you get?
I think he lionizes it. I think it's a piece of crap. The battery is terrible. The processor is too power-hungry while also being inadequate. It lags, apps crash regularly, and I find myself having to restart the phone every few days. I've had this phone less than four months, and the battery life is about the same as the S9+ I had for over three years. It is inferior to my old phone in every conceivable way, except that the processor is better on paper(but not in practice), and the camera is definitely better. I had to trade in my treasured S9 for this hunk of crap, expecting I would have a superior phone, and instead I find it has stripped features and cheap, unreliable components. The only good thing is the camera, and I don't take a lot of pictures.
@1230mkelly still on the Unlimited Plus plan. Love Fi but the battery on this phone is terrible. No other real complaints besides that. PHENOMENAL phone but the battery is bad enough for me to try to upgrade to an S23+ asap.
Iâm looking to get a Samsung phone any suggestions which one would be good
@Lauz14 The S22 is a great phone with a bad battery... the S23 has SLIGHTLY improved battery life but I would suggest the S23+ or the S22+ if you're on a budget.
Samsung did exactly what I wanted them to do, short of giving it the same cameras as the ultra. I prefer small phones because of all the adventures I go on. Hides way in my pocket nicely and takes great pictures. I'm excited to get my S22. Coming from an S10
I decided to upgrade from s10 to s22 plus. Wanted more battery

Excellent review. I just got my s22 last night this thing is a BEAST! :D
Great review! Just upgraded from S10 to S22 only because of delayed patches on S10 and nearing EOS. On the vibration issue, I guess Samsung took a note of feedback and provided a vibration sound setting to alleviate the issue out of pocket at-least. Couldn't agree more to all things mentioned about Samsung maturing from bloatware over the years and now leading the way in Android features. I myself was OnePlus fan before moving to S10 which was a pleasant surprise and S22 has bettered it in terms of some cool nifty features in software like "video call effects". Having "Switch"-ed over my data from old phone, I will soon be missing the expandable storage I guess. Limiting battery charge to 85% is another cool feature to prolong battery life which makes sense as Samsung promised 4 years of software support. Thanks again for the great video helped me and many others make an informed decision.
Is it worth it?
@@jerome8147 well not unless you get a good deal. I traded in my s10 for $106 and bought s22 at $300 + tax with a condition to switch to Google fi for 4 months. So in my case it was worth the upgrade as soon I wouldn't be able to trade in my s10 anymore and given the 4 yr support form samsung, I see s22 as a worthy upgrade at that price. Won't recommend paying more than $300 though as s10 is still a solid phone if end of support doesn't bother you as much. For me software support is needed for my work email on phone so was a compulsion to upgrade. Chose s22 because of form factor else s22+ is a better deal @ $100 more.
@@DeveshSingh209 I am looking to do the same exact thing, and the only thing I really care about is if the camera upgrade is worth it lol.

Always like the honest reviews on this channel. I'm going S22 for the more compact size and overall balance and quality. One thing I would like to see is some sort of rating for repairability. Screen and battery should replaceable to stop tech landfill where possible.
I've heard that screen is much more easier to replace on S22 series now. Not sure exactly how but I am hopeful. Need to wait for iFixit's teardown.
It's great to hear mkbhd mention it and it's great that you are talking about this as well. If we want more sustainable phones we have to be vocal about wanting them.

@@mart9585 Im sure if you guys keep requesting some sort of basic repairability in the comments the tide will turn. I've lost many phones to what should be a simple repair while they were still working fine.

@Diogo probably true tbh, but i don't think it's a good thing. there's a thing called ergonomics. I wonder where removing headphone jacks and not including chargers in the box came from
I would 100% go for the S22+ for the satisfying symmetrical bezels and the flat display. It looks so goooooood đ€€

Want to see you show up when I type a specific phone. All the same, thanks for your time to post this! So helpful.
A very concise review and excellent production value. Many thanks.
I bought the S22 last week. I ordered it on Tuesday night, after the official presentation, and it arrived less than 2 days later, on Thursday morning, even though on the website it said it would arrive in March. The size is good, the battery lasts well (more than 24 hours for normal use), the supercharger works fast (this is my preferred way of charging it as the wireless takes considerably longer), it doesn't heat up (only on day 1 while I was setting it up). The size is the right one for me as I'm a woman and anything bigger looks like the size of my head.

First things first, great review as usual. The Iphone of android is a very bold title and it is very interesting to see Samsung taking less risks to bring a more "main stream" phone to the market. No new tech or crazy functions, just what they know they can do well in a good looking phone.
It is very sad to still see people "defending" Apple and Android in the comment section as if they would get paid to do it. Don't get me wrong, the flip 3 is a BEAUTIFUL phone and far stronger than many rumors would have you believe. Mine was still in pristine condition when I traded it in. Anyway, I digress. The s22 is a breath of fresh air and sigh of relief in phone form. It's so awesome to not have to "baby" a phone anymore due to it having multiple "weak" and vulnerable spots. Its sooooo wonderful to not have to deal with a curved screen. I'm grateful for a flat screen because I haven't had one since I grabbed the note 9 years ago. The s22 is everything a person needs and a tiny bit more in a cute and compact form. I'm definitely happy!
Samsung is doing pretty great stuff in their Good Lock app. Some features were straight up added to One UI, some are just good usability and customization enhancements. I have stopped using NovaLauncher for the first time in years and am just using vanilla Samsung quite happily.
Omg so cool to hear someone else bring that up! I was using nova launcher on different android phones for years 'cause I usually didn't like other manufacturers's UI (emui, touchwizz and so on..) but with samsung's One UI and Good Lock app(which isn't available in every country btw, but you can install FineLock from play store and it's really the same.) I'm actually satisfied. Samsung really came a long way from their early software days. :)
Yeah Good Lock offers so many good features that are easily customisable.
Especially the One Hand Operation, it's just so good and useful
I upgraded from a 9+ to a 20FE and I kinda miss the 9+ it was such a fantastic device, didn't love the curved screen and the battery was toast after 3 years but it was so reliable.

As much as I want it right now, I'm gonna wait till the release of 8 gen 2 to decide. It's just 2 more months to see how much better it can get over 8g1 since the biggest change to s23 is probably just the chip, which is actually important cause it seems the bettery life and heat are the main problems of the phone
The 8+ Gen 1 mostly solved that issue. The 888 & 8 Gen 1 were manufactured by Samsung but Qualcomm switched back to TSMC manufacturing with the 8+ Gen 1

Samsung are fundamentally dishonest with this whole series of phones.
Im so glad we're back to flat screens, Ive hated the edge curves ever since the s7. And I feel like one of the things that have cemented Samsung's default android phone status lately is that there aren't as many flagship options left anymore
Yeah, it was also really hard to find a screen protector that covered the entire screen on those curved phones.
Same here i hate the curved screen
Yes, I received my green S22+ yesterday and I already put on a tempered glass screen that actually fits correctly. So glad they finally did away with the curved screen.
I think its good they kept it on the biggest models. One of the biggest complaints for the big new iphones is that the square edges are really uncomfortable to use. So why not put some curved edges on the big ones so they are easy to use, but while you are at it, just extend the screen into those edges. If the palm rejection is good, why not?
The Ultra has a curved screen
I love how you used the song 22's instrumentals for the Samsung s22 review, really clever. The swiftie in me jumped đđ
I use to think đ€ I needed bigger phone. Well 6 yrs later I appreciate a 6" phone that easily fits in my pocket and one I can use one handed . I believe the smaller phones are coming back. Just need to work out the kinks on battery life ..... I purchased a Samsung s22 And so far I like it đ A-

Watching this one day after getting my S22... this phone is... amazing... elegant... classy... powerful... I love it... but yeah, it is not anything new or revolutionary.. just a great phone, with great specs and a really premium finish
it is great that not only can I watch the video review which is great too, but I can also read the comments section and read the reviews from actual users.
0:20 Love that you added Taylor Swift's 22 into the intro to go along with the S22 review. Great attention to detail!
I noticed the taylor swift song too but I just didn't put 2 and 2 together... Geddit? I just thought it was a nice song đ
Or that dude at 10:49 at left bottom corner.
The smaller S22 is the first phone I'm _potentially_ interested in upgrading to from my S10e. I can't get with the larger screen sizes, and it's good to hear the battery life is still decently well on the S22 (which has a 3700mAh compared to the S10e's 3100mAh, but obviously with the new gen processor and 120Hz refresh rate to make up for that difference). And four years of updates? Hot damn. It's just the lack of a headphone jack that still puts me off... I'd have to get a 3.5mm->USB-C connector if I pick up the S22. But it's definitely on my radar this year.
You can get the S22 for 399 on Google Fi
You can get so many good USB C earphones. You can probably get Samsung's own one for around $40 and it's worth it.
I was also wary of the lost headphone jack but music now actually sounds better than before because the usb-c port is able to put out more power
I was on Note 9 and wanted to upgrade but hesitant because of this as well. I thought I couldn't love without the headphone jack, until I got the Galaxy Buds+ too, really convenient.
Right there with you. I currently have the s10e too, and I'm very interested in the s22 đ
I really liked the wallpapers you showed, can I get a download / image link so I can use that background? Thanks!
I'm about to switch from a S9 to the S22 next month was hoping to get an iphone 13 but S22 looks and performs better
Samsung S22 looks so good! I really like the compact form factor and it was one of the biggest reasons for switching to a 13 mini earlier this year. Before that, I was using the Pixel 4a which was also very compact. Hope this trend of making compact phones continues! đ And as always, great review Marques!
How was the experience of switching from 4a to 13 mini? I am also on 4a currently and thinking of switching to 13. Thanks!
@@RohanChouguleTechEd - Hey Rohan! The initial switch from Android to iOS is painstaking as you have to reinstall so many apps, log in again etc etc but post that initial hiccup, youâll love the 13 mini. Not that there was anything wrong with 4a but for me since I had iPad and AirPods, switching to 13 mini has been a good experience! Go for it, you wonât regret it đ
@@siddharthmenon8715 thanks for the response. I appreciate it.
How is the multi-tasking performance? Apparently my pixel 4a kinda seems to lag and drain battery alot if i am outside trying to book cabs using ola n Uber, while replying to someone on WhatsApp. So that overall doesn't seem like a lot of multi-tasking. But how has your experience been around this aspect? I am not into gaming. And camera, i am sure, is good in both of them. Thanks again!
@@RohanChouguleTechEd - Multi-tasking on the 13 mini is a breeze. No problems faced so far. Again, Iâm not a power user so havenât really pushed it but Iâve had no problems with day-to-day multitasking. And the battery performance is also good. Pixel 4a also never gave me many problems although post Android 13, the performance was erratic. My dad is still using it without any issues so far. đ Camera, I still like the one on Pixel though 13 mini is also very good. Just a matter of preference, I guess!
Yeah we need more compact phones on the market. Definitely the best value for money out of the trio. I have tiny hands and find big phones are cumbersome and heavy not to mention that they won't fit in my pocket. Boy am I glad to see you Samsung making a compact phone again
S21 Ultra still feels like a dream to use imagine how amazing S22 Ultra be
Worse đŹ sadly
Isn't it heavy for you?
No headphone jack. đą
Noice 69
@@Aggrofool I came from a s9 to S21U and originally yeah it was extremely heavy feeling, but you honestly just get used to it
Also don't forget the blast feature. Where their substandard battery will explode, taking a part of your body with it.
Samsung was my first Android phone when I retired my Nokia Windows phone. It taught me about home screen looping and Dark Mode. The only brand I've used without having to install a launcher for looping is LG. LG phones also had Dark Mode whereas other brands didn't have it until Android 10 was released. I've been debating about going back Samsung and this video makes me lean a bit more that way.
That haptic motor is one of the first things I turn off. The first time I touched a smartphone screen with it on it felt like I was being shocked and the phone went flying. Another thing I turn off is the sound of me touching the screen. That's annoying as all get out...
LOL A friend of mine is convinced that her phone actually IS shocking her; I couldn't convince her to let me show her how to correct that.
The S22 feels more close than ever as the refined version of S10, Samsung's one of the best flagships
Here we go again đ
Still rocking my S10+ from 2019

6:23 Changing the axis of vibration could be related to the new option of "sync vibration with rongtone "
The perfect video. Everything clear and timed correctly. I have no questions. Thanks.
Only marques would notice a shift from a z-axis vibration motor to an x-axis one... halmarks of a great reviewer
It's literally his job though...
I doubt he noticed the shift in axis directly, just that it felt a lot stronger/louder so he looked into it to see what they changed
I like the design and color options the S22 has. đ
Thanks. An excellent introduction for my new phone.
That taytay 22 song makes me feel so good
The S22 with a more compact size than last year's model, the new S22 goes straight for the heart of mini phone lovers. The screen size has gone down to just 6.1" and it's really a very good looking phone that Samsung has build.
yup, they copy apple again.
@@rian438 no , samsung listen to his customer, what they need and want on there next devices ... most of the people tweeted that they want compact phone

got my S22 this month after using my previous phone since 2015 đgladly i've got the phone that's in the line of latest models. So far I am happy with its features
That intro is sickk I love how the song 22 by Taylor is edited in to a review for the S22 lol
The S22 with it's smaller size, very slim and symmetrical bezels, contour cut camera bump design, and One UI 4 that fits the device's hardware really well looks so good to be. In my opinion it's the best looking phone right now personally, better than S22 Ultra even though it also is really nice.
Except for the size which is subjective, the S22 and S22 plus have the same design and for me I prefer the S22 plus as the best size between the two. For the Ultra, I don't like it
Except for the navbar etc. which is still never transparent and looks horrible on this hardware. I don't get how Google (or Samsung) still can't get stuff like this right đ€Šđ»ââïž
@@Raja995mh33 There's an option to disable it in the settings.
@@mr_ponyo which is stupid. And this also does not fix the status bar that often gets blacked out to "hide" the notch in landscape mode.
I'm really looking forward to this to replace my slightly aging S9+ my biggest issue with the S9+ is the curved edges cause the screen protectors always keep forming wrinkles after like 4 days. Really hyped to get this!
I just upgraded from my S9+. It was WORTH THE WAIT! đ đ
@@charquez3667 now it s my time to wait 2 3 weeks from s9 plus too !!
Thinking of replacing my S9+ too since the cameras are kinda messed up and it's time for a change!
Iâve also had my S9 for a long time, then switched to an iPhone because of the battery issues I ran into using the phone all day long.
I like how all of us are replacing our S9+'s xD I love it. Mine doesn't charge unless it's wireless and the battery is starting to suffer. Can't wait to have mine arrive.
i love the 22 playing in the background!!
22 - Taylor Swift (Taylorâs Version) in the background at the beginning is everything âïž
Wow I remember 4â on a phone being considered big and the galaxy note 1 being considered massive and now that screen size is below the norm đ
Tbf though, nowadays bezels are so small and everyone seems to measure the screen diagonal as if the corners aren't curved, so phones now that are 6" are much smaller than 6" phones like six years ago
Back then those 4 inch displays were 16:9, as compared to 20:9 today, which is entirely different. 16:9 typically looks larger, even though it's smaller diagonally, due to the extra width.
I'd much rather we compare screen size in cmÂČ, actual usable screen real estate
Me at 0:01 : I'M FEELING TWENTY TWOOOO

another fantastic review. Thank you!!
The reason why the change in the vibration motor axis could be to avoid the camera bump wobbling and creating extra noise.
I love it. Its the best Galaxy design since the s10. I had almost given up on Samsung until now.
Wait till you see the new ultra
@@sinuslebastian6366 I personally think the S21 Ultra looks cleaner. Not a fan of the boxy Note design or the camera rings.
