  • Yakuza 0 Retrospective:
This is one of my favorite games of all time so I decided to make a retrospective about it. In this video I tried to explain why I love Yakuza 0 with a burning passion and hope through my inane ramblings in hopes that someone would stop by a give an ear to what I have to say. My ultimate goal with this video is to give more attention to this game and the Yakuza franchise as a whole in hopes that it can reach a wider audience. Ironic I know seeing as I spoiled the story rotten. I hope the time stamps I added can mitigate it from those who want to go in blind, but I also realize that some people need the push of a spoiler to get them interested in something hence why they are put in.

You can really tell that Majima took the main focus of Yakuza 0
His fighting styles were more unique and fun (MDOS and Breaker being my favourites in the game)
His story was far more emotional and interesting in my opinion
His substories were funnier and more memorable than Kiryu's
Long story short, I like Kiryu but love Majima, he's my favourite video game character of all time as of now

I don't fully agree with the substory bit as personally speaking I think both Kiryu and Majima's are equally as funny. But yes Majima was easily the best character in the game they went above and beyond to flesh him out in this game so it's surprising to hear that he's your favorite.

@@riku582 Your absolutely welcome friend. Also i really sympathized with the RE4 review because i too am kind of a scaredy cat with horror. I don’t “enjoy” being scared and I don’t understand the appeal. But i can appreciate a good story or vidoe game.
As some general advice, the scariest thing I’ve EVER PLAYED in my life was Dead Space for the xbox 360.
I say that, but i also somehow beat it all the way to the end. I actually screamed at the top of my lungs like a girl SEVERAL times while playing on normal I’m not ashamed to admit. I even had a nightmare one night after the level with the undead babies. No joke.
BUT I also was on the edge if my seat in morbid fascination at what horror was going to pop up next and to discover just what the hell happened on the ship the game takes place on. I was genuinely hooked by the story, atmosphere and gameplay enough despite absolutely HATING how scary it was.
Just wanted to share that as something you may want to avoid possibly and also to tell someone who can relate with not being a horror buff like so many other gaming channels on youtube seem to be.
Also the Witcher is probably longer than Skyrim but I’ve gone out of my way to beat it twice because its still probably one of the best RPG’s I’ve played in my life. Played all the DLC too and i love Geralt as a character. He reminds of a more somber Wolverine from the X-Man.

@@MrSpartan993 Oh yeah I get that, like I'm interested in looking at the Resident Evil 2 Remake because everything I've heard about sounds like it would make for an unique game to play, but I barely handled RE4 and that was fairly campy so I ain't exactly rushing to try it out.

Hmm that sounds really interesting I'll definitely have to try Witcher 3 out in the future.

    • @MrSpartan993
      @MrSpartan993 Před 3 lety +1

@@riku582 Yeah I’m pretty sure RE1 2 and 3 are all more horror and less camp. RE4 i think was actually the more action focused turning point for the series as far as I’m aware.
And personally when I ended up beating the Witcher 3 and its 2nd/final DLC, I had spent so long getting to know Geralt along his dark and often lonely journey that when it all eventually ended, and he looks toward the camera at the end of “Blood and Wine” and says with a subtle grin that he “deserves a bit of a rest” it felt like after when one finishes an epic book series for the first time like with Lord of the Rings or Chronicles of Narnia and it actually makes you sad because it feels like you’re saying goodbye forever to a part of the family. At least it felt that way to me.
The game was so long, and the characters in it so real with such interesting writing, that I really grew attached to Geralt and his companions who made it with him without dying. It was like the end of a beloved TV show. The end of a great story that (because its in a videogame format) you got to take part in with decisions that still always manage to “feel like what Geralt would do” even when its left to you the player to flip that coin and reap the possibly tragic consequences. Sorry if I’m boring you with this comment string, i guess I’m just sort of passionate about a good story, whatever the medium its in.

I recently got into the yakuza series and honestly its one of my favorite games just because its crazy style, with yakuza 0 it's definitely a game that i think anyone should try as an introduction to the game, the 1980s bubble burst era of Japan mixed with the mini games like karaoke, disco, pool etc was pretty fun, the story was amazing seeing both kiryu and majima having their own humble beginnings to becoming yakuza legends of kamurocho was a fantastic, the different fighting styles was great and kinda gave you the freedom to pick which one you think is best, sure both kiryu and majima have their own fighting style but at least there's just options when it comes to fighting, and the takedowns were goofy and brutal.

I JUST FINISHED YAKUZA 0!!! Sooo good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I always knew of Yakuza, but never played one until I started Yakuza 0 last Month. It’s a long game. Worth every bit of my time.
I recently downloaded all the currently available Yakuza games (Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Yakuza 3,4,5,6 and the spin off Judgement) while they were discounted on the PlayStation Store for PS4. I am looking forward to playing all of the Yakuza games to see where it takes the story and characters. No waiting for releases through 9 whole games in the series. If all the other Yakuza games are as long and as good as Yakuza 0, I am in for a wonderful gaming event. I don’t think I can finish all the past game before Yakuza Like a Dragon releases on November 10, then there’s Cyberpunk 2077, so me playing Yakuza Like a Dragon will have to wait until I am ready.
I too want to immediately start playing Yakuza 0 all over again, as it was that good. With all the new modes that unlock as I played, I have a massive chunk of game still left to enjoy. But I need to get right into Yakuza Kiwami.
Yakuza games, from this point on, will always be on my radar and most anticipated games list.

This game did a lot for me that no other game managed to replicate.

I will go back and play them again after I finish “Like a Dragon” to see if I am missing the finer points.
With Cyberpunk 2077 delayed yet again, I have more time to spend with “Like a Dragon”.

I can understand why you'd feel that way especially if you were trying to complete all the substories on your first playthrough. These games are quiet literally bursting at the seams in content, and while the story is about average length for an action rpg (If you focus solely on the story the game is over in 20 hours) the side content can easily take up a large portion of playtime. But I'd also say that's one of the best parts about these games is that there is so much meat to chew on if you're into these games and all of it colors just how strange and crazy the world of Yakuza is.
