- HI guys in this one we take a look at the new FX rifle the FX Panthera, unfortunately this particular rifle is rubbish accuracy wise, although we do find the problem in the video, the carbon fiber stiffener fitted from the factory is slightly too long and it stops the jam nut from capturing the liner correctly.

Thanks for the video. My Panthera was one of the first off the production line, and it was a nightmare. After FX had it back for 4-weeks - she arrived home - and is now by far the most accurate airgun I own. Its sublime. Shame it took a factory return to get it shooting as it should of from the factory!
Glad it got sorted they can be great guns 😀
I just ordered mine and can't be happier. I ordered the Dynamic .25 with the big 480 bottle and 600mm barrel. Now I do wish I would have ordered it in the compact as I have an FX Maverick .30 completely decked out. Stiffer spring, tungsten hammer, carbon fiber stiffing rod, Huma air larger transfer port for slugs, huma air high flow pellet probe .30, and all internal parts have been polished for super low standard deviations getting 2 and 3s on a 13 mag string. Now planning on getting the new Dynamic hot and a lot shorter for just a carry in the woods lite gun. Enjoy your FX rifle my friend, I know I love both mine!!
Outstanding video. One would think quality control would have caught the tensioner issue in the series before they left the factory. Someone's gonna be in trouble 🤣
Thanks for sharing.
thanks for watching, yes it is a bit strange it got missed i will be a problem if they have missed them all
Thank you for showing us what you discovered with the overly long carbon fiber sleeve. I will now file that info away in the back of my mind ready to recall if I have a similar problem. A new Panthera is on my list of priorities. I'm looking forward to your next video to see if it solved your accuracy issues. Thanks again.
Thank you for showing that problem to us, it’s something to keep in mind in case that happens to anyone else!!!
Know problem thanks for watching 😀
I shot this on Saturday. One of the most beautiful guns I’ve ever shot. Comfortable, nice trigger etc. But couldn’t hit the back wall with it. Accuracy wasn’t a strong point. But I’m sure this will be transformed by the boys. Looking forward to this one fellas !
It will be good in the end 😁
@@sub12airgunners Best sub 12 in the world. Just like the impact.
Look forward to seeing the difference after the stiffener has been shortened and the jam nut holds the liner still.
Well found.
Questionable QC on that one.
@@iantcroft I thought I read your name as Lara Croft 😁 Personally I think the liner will go first and it will get an HFT 500 barrel. Both 14mm diameter. And a very reliable barrel. But we will see 😎
Disgusting that FX allowed this to leave their factory. I hope they see this video and then address their issues.
Good work Jeff.
Good honest review. I'm sure it will shoot great once you've worked your magic!!
You would have thought they would have tested the rifle for accuracy, before it left the factory. Especially a high end rifle like an FX. I have a little HW110, that was drilling pellet on pellet at 35 yards. It is probably quarter the cost. Guess who’s feeling smug LOL? 😊 I am pretty certain, once it is fixed, it will be a brilliant rifle. Then guess who will feel envious? 😂
yes they say they test them all but this one is the worst gun i have shot this year by a mile
Thank you for an honest review. I always enjoy your videos.
thanks for watching glad you like them 😀
Well done for the balanced video - and for finding what is hopefully a straight forward remedy to the accuracy issues.....I still think a normal barrel is the way to go though 🙂 I am surprised they kept the trigger the same as the Impact/Crown as whilst a good trigger, its not exactly target spec. Looking forward to the series 🙂 keep up the good work.
Thanks Tim, yes i have to agree with the barrel and i think they could have made more of an effort with the trigger, it's a fair way behind my M3 at the moment 🤨
Thanks Jeff for another great video, looking forward to seeing your great work on this, Cheers 👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍
thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 👍👍
I had the same problem, I tried a few air rifle moderators. So I message Jon from Hawkes Eye TV he said to try it without the moderator
It shoots absolutely fanatic JSB 10.34. 108 meters hitting 150mm self-adhesive targets stuck onto paper dinner plates stapled to posts. big thanks to Jon👍 Great review
nice one glad you got it sorted, our one is the carbon sleeve i think 😀
Great to see a new project. Even better that its a nice simple fix too.
thanks for watching 😀😀
Thanks for sharing this. Good honest review. And you are right about the positioning of the regulators, but to be honest I thought it was about where the plenum was positioned. Defo better position now.
Thanks for watching 👍
Very good video sir, can't wait to see the results
thanks for watching 👍 it will be good in the end 😀
Awesome video thats going to help out alot of ppl because i watched alot of videos about this gun having the same accuracy problems thanks for sharing be safe buddy 👍
thanks for watching 👍
Not a great start for an expensive rifle but your the man to sort it! Really looking forward to seeing the sorted Panthera.
yes i am looking forward to having another go with it 👍
How this left the factory is beyond me 😂 I do like FX but this simply shouldn't happen and can see why some don't 😐
Luckily it's ended up in your hands. I have zero doubt you'll get it sorted then some 💪💪
I cannot wait to see what you do with this 😁👍 you mention the trigger and you know what I think about that already 😊 definitely room for improvement there!! Also looking forward the the full strip and rebuild 👍👍
Great product watch and show as ever guys 👌
atb
😀 thanks for watching 👍
Love the honesty. 👌🏾👊🏾
thanks mate 😁
Same old story. I’ve had 2 Impacts from new and neither were fit to use out of the box. The MK 2 liner had been tightened by a gorilla in the factory and bent almost ‘S’ shaped and the M3 pic rail was bolted on at an angle and the liner bore was disgusting. Both rifles had bad reg creep. I replaced some o rings in the M3 that looked 20 years old but were only 2.
Like I’ve said before FX would be far better selling piles of parts and let the customer put them together. I got them both to perform adequately but as far as l’m concerned FX are mass produced garbage. Strong words but my opinion I’m afraid.
They aren't the only company that produce expensive weapons that are poorly assembled. Some are of poor design and unreliable, others temperamental and drive you mad throughout ownership, impossible to relax while shooting. Service and backup with some companies is maddening too. Manufacturers and importers blame each other but despite changes to latter the manufacturing problems persist. The benefit of this channel is that you can see how they can be fixed.
i understand completely how you feel but to be fair this is the first really bad one i have had and we have had a fair few, but i do get it i really feel for people that have had an experience like yours, it's a real shame because FX can be great guns👍
Spending more money means expectations increase! My current FX Dreamline Elite VP SabreTactical is half the price of the Steyr I had before and I'm a lot happier with it, apart from the lack of attachment points for QD sling swivels at the front! Contacted ST and was told the rifle was only designed with bench use in mind and not prone! Clueless!
Great video as usual, funny enough These kind of issues are very common now with new FX rifles.
yes it does seem that way 😁😁
Looking forward to seeing you work your magic 👍🏻
thanks for watching 😁
Ive had 2 new fx guns a maverick and a dreamline , the maverick was the biggest most expensive pile of crap ive ever had ,no accuracy pellet fussy and magazine problem's, the dreamline on the other hand was excellent no problem's at all .your work and videos are brilliant 👍😉
yes i think the dreamline is a great gun 👍👍
My impact mK 11 is almost 4 years old never cleaned barrel it shoot spot on out to 45M and have taken squirrels out to 50M with headshots it's .177 sub 12 ft it loves bisley long range gold it's the luck of the draw,i had a daystate Delta wolf that had to go back really enjoy your video's,i have seen quite a few videos of problems like you are showing 👍
yes we may have just been unlucky but it will be good in the end 😁
You might want to check the liner as wel. Place a pellet in the breech of the liner and push it through the liner. I did that with all my liners and found that the breech is tight, like a choke,in almost all of them. Made a mini hone to remove it and most of them improved a lot. Sometimes the liner has more issues, not uncommon, and cannot be saved. In that case an A-A or CZ200 barrel is very good option.
yes we have, this one doesn't feel to bad👍 but we have a AA barrel in stock just in case 😀
Will be lookimg forward to you getting this tuned in
i am as well i really like the gun feels great to shoot so i hope we can make a BR gun out of it 😀
Can’t wait for the next instalment 👍👍👍
thanks for watching 😀
Thank you for sharing that information.
Our pleasure 😁
Thanks for sharing this .... That's what's great about your channel, you say it as it is and you are totally un-bias. Shame FX are still having some QC issues considering the price!
Thanks👍 and thanks for watching😀
looking forward to the next video to see the results. I need you to come to Australia to sort my rifle out.
thanks for watching 😀 that would be nice 😁
I discovered the exact same mistake with the 700mm Panthera .. those carbon fiber sleeves are not only too long, but also too loose! Since you were able to remove the liner from within the carbon sleeve so easily, then that means the gap between them will result in liner play. FX has always had an issue with quality control since day one!
yes it does look that way 😀
If you are right about the liner, that is quite an oversight by FX. There would be multiple opportunities to pick that up along the production line, even before it reached the test bay. Hopefully you get it sorted, look forward to the rest of the videos on this.
you would think so but it seems to have slipped through 🙄 it will be good in the end, thanks for watching 😁
Typical for FX. Quality control is not as important as production speed. If you get a bad product and complain to FX in private you're at the back of the line to fix their mistake. If you draw attention to their mistake on a busy forum you go straight to the front of the line for repairs ahead of all the poor saps that tried to play the gentleman.
we just do our overview good or bad it is what it is and hopefully it may help someone out 😀
Interesting defect, nice find
Thanks 👍
Ahh yes, I have had exactly the same issue with the FX barrel on my maverick, tried all brands and sizes in .177 and it would not group at all - hope you get it sorted !
Thanks and thanks for watching 😀
One other thing to check with Panthera is fastening screws for bottom rail, near main block, 3 on each side. I've seen those been too long and hitting plenum!
will do thanks 👍👍
Sorry to hear of you problems with the Panthera, I'll be watching with interest to see what you discover and how you fix them.
Have to say that I'm surprised. I have over a dozen PCP's (Air Arms, FX, Walther, Weihrauch) and the four FX ones (Royale 500, Crown MK2, Impact MK2 and Panthera) have all been well made and excellent performers - right out of the box.
Many PCP accuracy issues can be traced back to a poor tune. I'd be curious how you would go about tuning your Panthera. Think a lot of people would benefit from a video like that.
Cheers!
yes i have had some very good fx guns but this one is very poor, swapping the barrel and doing nothing else gave a massive improvement but we are going to tune it and try with a standard barrel😀
Great video as usual - at least with this one you haven't got to break it first before you improve it 😉😂
🤣🤣 i had high hopes for this one 🙄 it will be good in the end 😀
Great vid 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed
Ive spent thousands on fac fx rifles and im not impressed at all as a pest controler i need something that shoots consistently accurately so i only use theobens or hw100 😊
thanks for watching, 2 guns i am very happy with 😀
When will you drop part 2 on this fix? I can’t wait to see this I’ve seen two other videos of guys with the same issue.
glad you like the vid, it will be soon hopefully we will fix it then test it then do the vid 😁
I firmly believe that 50 percent of the value of the gun is in the marketing costs. 🤣. Looking forward to your next video.
LOL i think you may be correct 😂
ha lol well done sub 12 !. we have a £1800 target rifle hyped up to be the holy grail of longer distances being the worst
genuine air rifle review on you tube ever.youve saved me a lot of money,THANKYOU
thanks for watching 👍
Heyup chap, makes you wonder where the Q C is ? Ive had quite a few people get in touch with me about the FX pantsera, barrel not seated into the breach properly, wobbly cycle lever due to loose top plate on the block, silencers dont do much for accuracy & the list goes on ? Id rather spend half the money on the Dreamline light long which performs amazing out of the box as does the classic, great insightful review, cheers buddy,👍Jon 👍👍 Hawkes Eye TV 👍😁
i have always said the Dreamline is the best gun FX make for the sub 12 market the Panthera is a bit of a let down at the moment 👍 thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 👍😀
Impressionable ❤❤❤❤❤❤
😀
This isn't the first time I heard about accuracy problems with the panthera, pretty disgusting for a £2000 price tag then your supplier say to you it's ok we're get it fixed or replace the gun, then you will be waiting weeks or even months with them saying it's being fixed the gun should be replaced straight away no excuses about we've got to try and fix the problem first was looking for a new pcp a while ago fx and as on my shortlist but soon removed it as I heard so many problems with a lot of there guns sorry Jeff going on a bit but as usual great and informative videos all the best
i do know what you mean but to be fair CSS did offer me a refund or an exchange, but i know not all dealers are the same and people do loose there guns for weeks being repaired 👍👍
@@sub12airgunners I'm not knocking CSS, used them a couple of times been good, but some seem to take your money then that's it they aren't interested 👍
Shame that's not worked for you. My mk2 Impact is spot on. Had it three years from new. Never needed touching, never missed a beat. It gives my redwolf a run for its money at 50 yards.
we may have been unlucky but it is very disappointing, but it will be good in the end that's for sure😀
That’s crazy. Just about everyone of these I’ve seen shoots accurately right out of the box.
unfortunately not this one and it's not just one thing 🙄
i really love it
thanks for watching 😀
i will stick to my vulcan 3.good work on the vids boss
thanks for watching 👍👍
Shoots about as bad as my P18 :-D but that didn't cost 1900 quid :-) And I bought it as a project gun to tinker with.
Good to know FX will fix it but it should have been "fixed" when they shipped it out the first time.
Great review!
yes this one is very disappointing 🙄 thanks for watching
What part number is the sealant loctite mentioned when removing the screws holding the barrel?
hello , i wss thinking would shortening of the linerlock not a easy way to get the liner tight
yes it would work doing it like that 👍
I purchased the same rifle and accuracy was an issue.
I tested it on all settings with 5 different tins of quantity pellets at 25m i couldn't get a 2 inch group.
It's now gone back to FX for checking.😢
not good at all, it will be interesting to see if it's the carbon sleeve with yours as well
Could you tell us where did you get the side wheel for the element optics scope?
that's a home made one on the titan 😀 thanks for watching
Hi is there anyone could tell me is there a o.ring in the breech end of the barrel of a HW 100. Seemed to have lost a bit of power after cleaning the barrel and getting a piece of cloth stuck in breach end. And had to get snip nosed plyers to pull it out
There are two orings. One in the end face of the barrel itself, and another inside the loading port. I'd image it'll be that one that's damaged. It's a real pain in the arse to change though,. I had to pry mine out with a dentist's hook tool.
@@mrmactknife okay thanks for that information. At least I know where to look 👍

An after-sales service with qualified personnel would be good, where they would solve at no cost all the details that were overlooked in the chain, which are a real headache for most of us and possibly be more attentive when it comes to launching new models, in instead of ordinary users piling problems in their high-priced closets, regards
thanks for watching 😁
What a shame that this is happening. Poor quality control from the guys at Fx. Hope shortening the carbon fibre stiffener sorts out your problem
yes it's not good i was really looking forward to this one 😔 but it will be good in the end 😁
@@sub12airgunners I’ve no doubt you’ll fix it. Shouldn’t be happening though. Although I’ve heard nothing but good things about the rifle from others.
Ive got an fx crown mk 2 accuracy is amazing without a silence as soon as i put one one and tried a few accuracy spreads out around an inch at 30 yards any ideas none have signs of clipping
Great content 👌
i would say the shroud may be running out a tad when you fit a mod the pellet gets very close to the edge, it doesn't need to clip to affect the pellet if it runs very close the the exit it can open op the groups
Many thanks ill contact fx an hopefully theyll have an easy fix for me
Just a thought why keep the macro adjuster but get rid of the micro adjuster it’s literally the same thing isn’t it ? It just moves the same hammer spring but only a lot less then the macro wheel strange ?
yes they could have left it but maxed it out at 12lbft like the macro
what a shame . your not the only one that has problems with accuracy with this rifle . have to say fx really need to set up there QC because that is a silly little balls up bit more care taken and that would not have left the factory. fantastic looking gun let’s hope that fixes the issue and it’s same hole or close groups . it was a toss up for me redwolf or that , i opted for the wolf as that was the fx was to new for me so the teething issues i feel had not been worked out . and the wolf is supreme accurate even for a crap shot like me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes it is a real shame, i was really looking forward to this one 🤞🤞it sorts it but we will be doing our bit to it anyway so it will be good in the end 😀😀 the redwolf is a great gun imo it does what all good pcp's should do with style 😁😁
i dont am a fan of the liner system ,why? changing the liner you are back in the search from the best setting and scope adjusments . and the weak barrel is always directing different . wind sun and transport ,while a steel bull barrel is no problem , and a heavy barrel in a gun is the best pointer
very true 👍
is there a follow up yet, would like to see if it has made much of an improvement?
it will be next week but there is a big improvement in group size still not as good as i want but that was what was giving us the 3in groups
👌👌👌
thanks for watching 😀
If this is a major problem with the Panthera will it also be an issue with the new King which has the same block/ barrel?
i would think this a batch problem and not on all the guns 👍👍
What outer diameters do those liners usually have btw?
Anyone know a .22 liner (anything over 450mm in length) with a minimum outer diameter of 11mm (or slightly thicker might not be an issue either).?
i think a .22 is about 8mm OD i could be wrong but not far off
@@sub12airgunners Oh, wow. That ain't much! 😮
But thank tou so very much for the reply.😊👍🏻
😮 Bit of a Q.C. failure there then! Think I'd have taken it straight back and asked for an exchange so the warranty was still valid. I'm sure you'll work some engineering magic and end-up with a stonker though👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
FX were fine with the consumer doing their own repairs under warranty, without voiding.
CSS would of been only to happy to take it back but we are going to fix ourselves and show the process 😁 it may help someone out
Nice one, makes a change for someone to actually show a bad one 👍
we buy them so they are not picked out special they are off the shelf and we get what we get 👍👍
Same groups as mine, that’s gone back for repair/replacement as well… Bloody annoying really really want an FX that works but 4 impacts and 2 crowns later I am still looking 😢
i feel you pain 😥 would you let me know what they find when you get it back, i would be interested to know if it's the carbon sleeve👍
@@sub12airgunners will do 👍
Off topic. Have you made a slug swaging die? Would you?
we haven't, we may do one day but not at the moment 👍
nice 😀😀
👍
Did you manage to get this rifle shooting accurately and what was the issue?
a vid will be out later today 😁
👍
thanks for watching
Have you finished with the BRK ghost?
No no no, we have more to do on the Ghost we are just running 2 at the same time to break it up a bit, next week will be the Ghost😀 and if you check out the the BRK YT channel you can see a full strip and rebuild on the Ghost 👍
@@sub12airgunners be gentle with her though 🙏
Thank you for saving my 2k. As a basic guy who has no access to machining, your video means a lot to me. I will stay away from this maker.
thanks for watching 👍
I thought the 50 yard had a few more holes in the roof. I know why now 😘
As someone else said, you would of thought that would of been picked up when it was tested.
🤣🤣
Pellets? I thought it was an pure slug only. Must be because of the sub12
the sub 12 ones come with pellet liners in 👍
i have a 22 cal 700 pantera had it for just over two months been back twice for repairs totaling 5 weeks for repairs so far. qc not good at fx trev
no not good 😞
👉💯👍
😀
This is incredibly poor from FX.
They really do seem to be at that ‘British Leyland’ stage in their business.
Great video 👍
😂 that's brilliant 🤣🤣 thanks for watching
@@sub12airgunners 😉😂
Blimey Jeff, I have no doubt that you'll get this dialed in - but it really shouldn't be shooting like that. Are you going to get a thread going on the AGF ? Dear God...Incoming!!! :p
yes mate it's not good 👍
Sure you guys will sort it out, and get it shooting straight.
Thanks Don 👍
Rack n load did a review and his was like a shotgun
i will have a look👍 i am interested if other people are having the same problem with the sleeve
The rail on mine is garbage. The rail digs into the barrel shroud enough to deeply gouge it, and that was just in shipping before mounting a bipod. Otherwise I like my U.S. spec .22.
our one seems ok thanks for watching 👍
Sounds like that would cause harmonic issues!
I've seen plenty of bad reviews of this rifle, I've only ever owned one FX rifle and I'll never buy one again!
thanks for watching 👍
Fiquei muito decepcionado, peguei a minha hoje e não consegui mais que 175 mps
Well done boys but god how embarrassing for FX.☺️
Imagine if all sub12 guns are sent out the same blimey importer will be happy 😬
thanks mate, yes that would be a problem 🙄
Shot this on Saturday and it’s a Stunning rifle to shoot ,such a pity it’s not very accurate.
yes i have to agree it is a real shame
Should never have left the factory like that, like other manufacturers, but do think fx have gone down hill…
it is a shame 🙄 thanks for watching 👍
For a high end rifle, this is appalling. Maybe it is comfortable, feels good and looks goo, but so do the cushions in my living room - they can’t shoot for 5h/t either!
know what you are saying 😂
I have 7 cheap SPA pcps and every single one of them shot much better than that out of the box. It's a shame really. A premium product should have premium quality control.
you are right they should 😀😀
Halo
thanks for watching 👍
Can I have that please with a cherry 🍒 on top
😂😂
WoW for that price it's not acceptable quality; A novice would just put up with the terrible quality of the rifle! FX build quality I would say they're going to be a batch of their rifles with the same problem.
lets hope it was just mine with the sleeve problem
Glad you didn't get it from range and country, you would have just invalidated your warranty as you would even if you had just replaced a seal. Then if you had needed further help they would have told you TOUGH. Sort it out yourself. Incredibly dodgy people to do business with.
we don't worry about the warranty we fix them our selves 😀
Typical FX. Over priced, under engineered.
it is a bit disappointing to say the least
Appalling quality control….shame on you FX
yes not good 😀
Man thats one ugly looking rifle
just looks like any other PRS setup to me, can't say i am big fan of the looks but it does feel nice to shoot 👍
