It finally happened! My tired old power steering pump on my 1988 Cherokee XJ has been leaking for over a year. It was a slow leak, so I just kept adding stop leak and filling it up; but no more!
I apologize for the bit of clicking in the audio - Filmora's latest update has caused this audio glitch during rendering and I am awaiting a fix.
However, the show must go on! I show you exactly how I removed my old pump, what I cleaned up, where it was leaking, and the complete reinstall. Working in this new garage is everything I had dreamed it would be. If you haven't already, please check out my garage playlist! My father and I built it from the dirt-up!

Nice job. This is exactly what I'm dealing with. I enjoyed this video; it was very helpful. Thank you.
Excellent, I'm glad you got some use out of it. Been a few years, zero fuel issues since! I can stand by the K-suspension products and seals.
Thanks for the instructions. I'm helping my son fix a 1992 Cherokee Laredo that needs some love. Actually Nicollete Larson said it best because "It's gonna take a lot of love"; starting with a radiator and power steering pump and hoses.
Keep doing what ur doing love the content. I love watching how stuff gets fixed🤩
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Glad you liked it!
Great video, thanks a lot !!
Link to part used? trying to replace mine in my 88 as well.
Remember the bolt size for the 13mm pump x2
Great vid!
Nice video man, educational aswell 👍
Thanks so much, friend! Also, WE JUST HIT 100 SUBS!! Maybe you had something to do with that..? :) The channel is steadily growing, albeit a bit slowly. I'm still learning and figuring out what people really like to see. I hope you, and all of my other internet friends, stick around to see what keeps coming up on the channel!
@@inawrocki207 yeah man keep the energy up in the videos, makes them fun to watch 😁
Conlad fr love it. Brings a smile to my face
@@GsL2I0B0R0A Thanks guys! Can't wait to bring you the next ones. We've got detailing, doors, fixing windows, and weatherstrip all coming up.
hi do you have some engine mods from the regular xj renix engine? I love the valve cover
It's almost completely stock. That's an aluminum valve cover; good replacement for the soft stamped metal cover (chasing a leak).
It has the original block, exhaust manifold, and throttle body. The fuel injectors are K-suspension 12 hole upgrades.
The coolant system is out of a newer 96, not the original sealed bottle and hosing. It also has old in-line fuses, and the chassis/electrical was wired for the old 4 cylinder 2.9L.
@@inawrocki207 that’s awesome. Would it work for a stock 1989? I can’t seem to find any and would really appreciate if you know the company that sells em
@@abrahambarkhordar5572 it's this one here: www.summitracing.com/parts/rto-rt35002?seid=srese1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_-GxBhC1ARIsADGgDjvhrDsowtqAHGBs7AAqJgnH2A3NU6h731jAt3uyUoQUPI1sF7QFQtcaAqTUEALw_wcB
Fuel injectors are K-suspension.
@@inawrocki207 Tysm! Even though it doesn’t say 89 or 88 it still works on renix? That’s awesome
I noticed how he had the black and decker one on tighten
Yea no. The grey thumb switch was sticking out, in reverse, at 6:30. It's pretty obvious, too. Thanks for watching and commenting, though!
I bet your dad worked on it before you and forgot to put the bolt in lol jk
