    Thanks mate, just bought a 2007 vtx1300c. Dude sold it to me way cheap, he claimed nothing wrong but the tires are shot and the clutch is slipping in high gear. Bought for 2.2k, spend 300 putting tires on, and 200 putting a new clutch in myself.
    Hopefully it'll ride like a dream. Engine is healthy as can be, starts up in milliseconds.

      @Ree Toaded well I ended up on an FZ6s. It turns out cruisers just weren't for me. Unfortunately, though, someone decided to be stupid and cross the road without looking, directly into my leg so hard it broke open the engine case.
      I don't know if I'll ever get to ride again let alone walk 😔

    You forgot to mention when replacing friction plates make sure to soak them in oil for at least 15 minutes prior to installation or clutch slip and or premature clutch wear will result not to mention contaminated oil and oil filter

  • @Orion3716

    While I'm taking aff the exhaust, covers etc. I soak the plates (friction and steel) in cheap 10W40 motor oil. I think starting off with your wet clutch actually wet saves wear & tear. Do not use oil that says energy conserving cuz it will make your clutch slip. Excellent video.

      Dan Maloy I did that with my vstar. I'm guessing we should be doing this with the vtx

    • @joebarone3272
      @joebarone3272 Před 7 lety

      Dan Maloy also never do full synthetic, some bikes clutches don't like it and it actually caused the clutch to slip sometime a mix blend but regular oil

    I have an 1800 C and at a few thousand miles on it and I was getting some slipping on the clutch. The plates looked good so I just installed some Barnett springs. This solved the problem and I haven't had to touch it since.

    I have an 03 and I want to take those chrome covers off to have them rechromed. Could I still ride around with just the 2 covers removed? It doesn’t seem like they’re attached to the oil at all thanks

    I guess i didn't understand what you replaced, looked like you just scuffed them up. And it actually looks like a really easy job, and seemed like the pipe removal was the hardest part, that sound about right?

    i just replaced my clutch and in driving it it doesnt seam to want to shift properly. and a loss of power. I'm wondering if i torqed the springs to much?

    How crucial is that last plate position? I just replaced the friction plates on my vtx1800 before i saw your video and put the last one inline not offset like you did... thanks

    thank u for great vid. i have sabre 1100. about 18000 miles on it. i can only shift to 1st & 2nd gear. foot pedal doesnt rebound. i think that rebound spring is damaged & its very big job to fix. but my friend thinks its clutch is jammed & easy job. i would like to get your thought about it. thank u again.

    I’m a beginner and have a 2003 vtx 1800 c and after I ride for like 20 min. The clutch lever gets really hard and it has hard time to go on first gear. Also do I have to squeeze the clutch all the way on every gear change? The clutch cover gets really hot and it stars to burn my leg, I bleed and refill the clutch and it didn’t help. Any tip will help , thank you!

    Your video helped guide me through successfully replacing my VTX1300 clutch with a Barnett kit. A question for you. Assume you are engaged in first gear as you approach a stop light. Once stopped with the clutch engaged and input shaft no longer turning, you attempt to shift OUT of 1st and into neutral, but the shift lever feels "locked" in the 1st gear position. In your opinion, what if anything, could cause that to happen?

    • @austinmckenzie6252
      @austinmckenzie6252 Před 7 lety

      this happens to me a lot on multiple biked. i am guessing its a syncronizer.. i just rev a little move it a bit and then pull it out of gear. it has trouble going in gear the same some times.

    it's possible that that the neutral wire is disconnected. find that wire and reconnect it. it happened to me.
