Beautiful version of Give Thanks.
Even now. These voices shock my world xxxx
If you want to sing along:
I te timatanga ko te kupu, i te Atua te kupu, ko te Atua anō te kupu
E tō mātau Atua, tō mātau tāwharautanga
Tukua mai tō wairua hei parahau mō mātau
Penapenatia mai rā tēnei huihuinga tangata
Tukua mātau kia piri i te waikanaetanga
Chorus
Nōu rā te hōnore, te korōria
Ki a Koe ngā kupu whakamānawa
Kia whakapaingia Tō ingoa tapu, e Ihoa
Kia tau ki tēnei rauika, tō wairua mākohakoha
Tukua mai tō aroha hei maīaorere mōku
Back to chorus...
Āmine

their sound is alot more balanced then the others that i have seen on here.they perform with maturity.their kupu is next to none.and the elements required are all in this group.te ihi,te wehi, te wana.

Kia Ora Koutou... Looking through the comments, there are many of us who respect and admire Te Piringa and their fantastic achievments. Would one of the members be so kind as to post "nga Kupu" so we can all share the love of the song... Pai marie .....:-)
I just found this today. I know this tune. Give Thanks. I don't understand the words in this version but this really swept me of my feet. I needed to hear this so much today, and remind myself of the some things I need to give thanks for. I only wish this was recorded with better equipment, because in my opinion, the quality of the video doesn't do any justice to such a superb and spectacular performance. Wish I could watch this on HD.
Tautoko e hoa. If only we had better tech in '08
brigette ^-^ anei te urupare ki to patai... tino ataahua te aahua o te iwi maori .. :)
Puawai u look awesome!:):P:O:D

Can someone please write the lyrics? I don’t speak Maori but I’d love to be able to sing this.
he kura e rere ko te kaupapa kia tika ko waiata ki maori kote whakaaro kia rangatira kia ora
@hallrc No. Kapa Haka groups don't often use the actual lyrics of a song by translating them. They just use the tune. However, this tune fits really well for this item, because they're giving thanks to God.
beautiful girls in the roopu, ka mau !
They always have beautiful girls in their roopu 😂😂 and we get all the heffas 🤣🤣🤣
DON MOEN-GIVE THANKS (yes it's a christian song)
Kia Ora Koutou, Fantastic performance. Congratulations to all involved. Can some one please post the words as I have a little girl running around the house driving me crazy making up words as she goes.... :-) it pretty ccute at first but I think she would benefit from a little help from Aotearoa.... Kia Ora.
sooolid !
Thanks MrKounga for the lyrics can you lyrics de song of de NZ DANCE with the poi
I agree! Pakeha can sing in a Kapa Haka. It's racist to think euros can't participate in our beautiful culture.
I think more should.... :) :) :)
Chuurrrrr!!!
ngarahard2010.. the tune to the waiata is "Give thanks".. an american song ki aku whakaaro. But yeah thats what the tune is. Is "Praise Be" the name of the song Hatea sang?
Meaan !
@TheSarahjanebeal don moen-give thanks
te piringa were also not chosen on just their singing but also choreography. and one more thing, if you don't agree with nga kaiwhakawa's desicion. how bowt asking to be one at the nex t whakataetae mo nga kura-tuarua o te motu. kia ora ra.
@Lapoloma08 It sounds like "Give Thanks With a Grateful Heart." Are they singing the original lyrics in Maori, or have they changed them around, but used the same tune?
@pumanawatanga its Palmy boys/girls, Mana tamariki and Freyberg all in one! :)
@briggitbro - coz theyr MAORI kuz - hahahaha - wat a beautiful composition, executed by some lovely young, voices, with gud luks to boot - hika, watch owt wen they GROW UP into big ppl & hit that matatini stage - luk 4wd 2 watching them all in tha adult nats wen itz theyr turn - mean maori mean :-)
i recon they did awsome !

Why is everyone in this group so good looking!?!?
Because we are Maori it's in our blood lol
where can I get choral arrangements like this?
how many schools make up te piringa?
@UpEataakadaman KIA ORA!!!! Godamit at least somebody can see the light!.
my aunty is in the front row
Is this tahawai...whaea heni's neice?
Some passages sounding like:
Pet Shop Boys - GO WEST
Is that Puawai?
any one know tht chicks name that steps out to sing the first solo bit, think im in love wit tht voice. it helps tht shes hot too!
Kia Ora koutou katoa.
I too was at this competition, i watched and enjoyed every performance that hit that stage, and Te Piringa were purely awesome. However, they did not in any way deserve 1st place. Kapahaka is way to modern and is destroying the tradition put forth by those who walked before our time. Alot of schools deserved to win this comp, but, Te Piringa were not one of those roopu. Arohamai.
Na Piringatahitu.
Mauri Ora.
sonnys the man
@MrMototo haa'aa straight Uhp Creepy !!.x
hmm, tahaawai i didnt get of track. you said that the pari was traditional. maybe you should have said ORIGINAL in the first place im sorry but the two words are tino rereke. and plus who said your the person to judge what is original and not. te matarae i orehu dont wear pari. btw the're not gowns, they're two pieces a pari and panekoti and maybe i should have been clear... i didnt credit the pakeha to the evolution of kapahaka i just used them as a example of a time in history (if u know wha
Anybody know the lyrics..?
Can u post them if u do plz.
Would help alot...
lol
C yah..!
Oh ye. N u guys are da BOMB..!
SERIOUSLY..! TOTALLY.!
Bye
But is her name Jeleeza?
te piringa haz the whole pakag tha siging wz soo gud that thats al that people remembr ..... itz bta singn mor than jus haka al the tym ....maoriz are happi people the haka z sooo angri ....u can stil show mana through waiata n datz exectli hw te piringa did it! ...KIA KAHA TE PIRINGA!!
I think that could be ABBA song?
Like Like :)
Shux i reckon dis natz material. Billions of different notes lol
How hard is it to pronounce the kupu 'tukua'...everytime it's sung its pronounced incorrectly and sounds like "tuuquaa".
@briggitbro i reckon they got make up done or wot? lol
agree and disagree....if you listen to all the haka groups from back in the daze they were melodious and harmonised well.....unlike now...haka groups harmonise, but they shout the heck out of the waiatas to see whos the loudest, sometimes killing the wairua of the performance, but yeah this performance was sweet....
Haha..Fuck i'd like to see that 2toa guy haka......and sing. Hes talkin quite a lot. lol
Of course your not saying they 're bad!! and kaore ratou i te (me kii) commercial. and you think that other roopu are being traditional// i doubt it!! kapahaka has changed and evolved since pakeha have been here.. (and will continue to do so). and as for essence of kapahaka. for me if you can see on their faces that they feel .........
Farowt! Look at all the negative comments! WHAT A HOHA! If you dont have anything nice to say...then done bludi say anything!! Goh! Oh hang on! Scratch that! If your jealous and you have nohting nice to say..then dont say it ne!?.. Dont be a trouble maker!
t I mean) anybody in their right mind?? are you calling me and the kai whakawaa and the rest of aoteroa who arent puhaehae, Porangi?? koz i think they sound bloody awesome.. BTW i think its good that you have your own opinion but i don't think we need to resort to 'whakaiti tangata' te piringa didnt do anything to you e mara. i think well leave it at they aye? We can be big enough to agree to disagree hmm e tahaawai??
the wairua and ka mohio ratou i te ngako o to ratou nei waiata, then ka taea ratou ki te capture the 'essence'. as for the Pari. it never has been traditional!! our tupuna didnt have wool (and elastic shoulder straps for that matter) untill the pakeha came!....... Plus, women went bare chest most of th time! yup and the harmonys are part and parcel of kapahaka . if you dont have them then im sorry to say, you dont have much of a chance.
yous wud b a mean group if the haka was as mean as the singing , but mean singin aye .
