27 Stories of Los Angeles Skyscraper Covered in Graffiti

- In a shocking sight, each balcony of a 27th-floor high-rise building is covered in graffiti. The building is part of a billion-dollar project in downtown Los Angeles that has sat unfinished since 2019. It was supposed to be 40 stories of fancy condos. Now, police officers are sitting outside the building hoping to keep taggers out. LAPD says it's working to secure the building and that the graffiti will be removed.
So, the issue is the graffiti, not the fact that the building has been sitting there unfinished for years... Huh, I applaud the artist for bringing awareness to this shell of a building.
Yeah I gotta side with them on this one
Artist?
Chinese company that went Bankrupt and shady councilman/woman is the reason it's been unfinished.
@@goldenharborstudios7180 Even Leonardo Da Vinci wasn't considered a real artist in his time.
@@goldenharborstudios7180how is this not art? 😂 so your saying anyone could just do letters and pieces like that?
I love that the outrage is over the graffiti, and not over the fact that there's a billion dollar luxury skyrise sitting unfinished for five years in the middle of a housing crisis and a homelessness epidemic.
Media trying hard 2 convince u otherwise tho lmao
Right!
Three buildings
Well said, @billy!!
yeah..
the real question is how were they able to complete that much without getting caught??
Being good at it..
Because LAPD is a joke now due to California legislature
If I was a cop and was looking 40 floors up to stop a graffiti artist would be like" yea no!" 😆
That’s what I was wondering
Criminals have special protected status in Los Angeles County.
Maybe if the building hadn’t been left abandoned for 5 years this could have been avoided.
maybe if the dems didn't force people to stop working it would be done.
Apparently, the building wasnt secure
Well it looks better now.
It has some pizazz 😂
Trump won 🇺🇲
@@timg2973i doubt its all on the democrat party, they (the project) couldve ran out of money to work on it or a resource shortage
I’m not usually into graffiti, but I actually like the meaning behind this, bringing awareness to this abandoned building
Gon a be honest probably just a bu ch if teens who thought that would be sick to tag a whole building and did it
Also my dad told me some people hire others to do that, so the price of it goes down. Not sure how true it is, but it is a possibility. They have been doing this in Bayside Florida, to an abandoned building, with multiple floors too, almost identical to how each level has graffiti on it.
Not “anything” but your point is valid
Graffiti is cool. It may be the only one art that has rebel spirit. It is not about vandalising. It is about breaking reality of sterile style of postmodernity.
"while we were there, this guy jump the fence." Literally such a random and hilarious moment 😭
You know they payed that man who jumping a fence with face showing with the News Infront of them🤔
people who callin this an eyesore don't understand how complicated graffiti is and how much of an eyesore an uncompleted building is
I think it is more beautiful than much of downtown.
exactly this looks way better than a bunch of concrete and steel
Doesn't matter how complicated graffiti is. A turd is a turd.
100%
I think it's the gang related graffiti that the people don't want.
am I the only one who thinks the "graffiti" actually looks quite nice?
Youre not alone
It's old that shi used to be popular back in the 90s-2010
It does add some much needed color... not a fan of these grey skyscrapers.
I think it looks a lot better. And I give respect to the artists skills and bravery.
I like it! Reminds me of my skate park back in the day.
Empty buildings with tons of people homeless. Where is the accountability?
its not anyones responsibility to help the homeless , they have the responsibility to quit drugs and get a job, you obviously never actually had to deal with drug addiction
@@Seabass1206Not my problem. Everyone out for themselves. Social Darwinism. You sound so nice and smart.
There is none, plus the building is owned by a Chinese company that do not care about it anymore.
@@Seabass1206 LMAO man and then you have people commenting on the migrant situation that we should help the homeless instead
@@ajames283 i can’t wait for the day that you help one of these people and come home to all your valuables missing, these people will do anything for a fix including ripping the copper from your walls, they don’t want help they want to live with no responsibility
The eyesore isn't the graffiti, its the unused building.
I love it! Turn the whole building into an art complex! Bravo to the artist who took over this place.
I was thinking the same thing!
I agree
Real
I’m just flabbergasted by the determination and how were they able to pull it off
easy asf they never check pm buildings under construction most homeless people live inside lo plus this one was abandoned for 5 yrs lol
It’s downtown LA, the police avoid that place like the plague. Skid row is a few blocks away.
This is funny AF. Sure, it's tagged. It sucks to some. But it also says more the eyesore of the unfinished skyscraper ruining the skyline.
This is a great display of the essence of California.
No.
No it’s not. Come see the urban decay and unfinished “Condo Hell”in Toronto Canada. This is not only a California problem. We have a surplus of greedy corrupt developers building unaffordable/unavailable housing here too.
@AB-hk1pq You know what. You 100% right. Absolutely agree with you
“A fancy high rise that was never finished..” that’s the title this news report should have had.
Graffiti towers is the new name
Tag Time Towers
Where we droppin boys?
As for how it looks - it looks really rad.
Now that’s some serious tagging
I actually think it looks nice.
The graffiti could be very useful to tell what floor you or a person may be in.
How could they put such an ugly building on such beautiful graffiti?
It actually looks very nice ngl, kudos to the person who did it
It’s thousands of them not just one , their coming from all over the country just to hit it
This is epic! They made the boring eye sore building look even better lmao
Looks like a book shelf. Love it.
As a Los Angeles native, this is pretty dope 😂
The street art these guys did is absolutely beautiful major props to them
I like the artwork
That looks truly beautiful
It would be beautiful.. IF .. it was painted on something THEY ( the taggers) owned !and NOT someone else’s property. I don’t care. How long it sits.. it’s OWNED by SOMEONE who put in time, work and money and to have someone decide to paint on your belongings is disgusting and ugly ! I’m sorry but this is this!
The fact that those guys have been doing graffiti, says they've been also living there, all it takes is some air madrass, bagpack and the glorious view of LA by night.
Honestly, it looks quite nice on a building that's left unfinished.
I won't stop painting 'till the world looks the way it should
I'm on a mission to make heaven look like my neighborhood
It makes the building look nicer 🎨 a lot of creativity there. :)
I’ve heard stuff about graffiti artists doing a bridge or something, but a whole building?! A 27 story building?! Make that graffiti artist really has the audacity to do that.
They don't even know how legendary that is.
The way it's tagged, respectfully, on each floor is kind of cool , almost looks planned.
That guy jumping the fence wasn't graceful at all. 😂😂
the amount of effort that must've been tho
The graffiti on the building isn't just random; it's a vibrant expression of urban art, turning an empty space into a story!
Why is this building just sitting there when it is part of unfinished construction?? What an eye sore. Clearly, some people aren’t stepping up
How about turn those luxury condos into affordable housing for people?
first rule of fight club is dont talk about fight club
Bro I personally wouldn't be upset, just impressed
Dope ass throwups! Ya’ll just gave all these writers more fame 😂😂😂
This reminds me of a building in Seattle that was covered in graffiti the the owner of it allowed it because it was gonna get torn down at some point.
So during that time it was free range for graffiti, and it was just covered in layers and layers of it, that it just made such a colorful collage that was gorgeous!
And sometimes you get like gorgeous works on it like someone did a beautiful portrait of a woman that looked photo accurate.
Reminds me of the owner of a warehouse in NYC that he allowed to be covered with graffiti. When it came time to tear down the building, he was sued for destroying art, or whatever legal terminology they came up with.
The guy had to spend money in court before he could demolish the derelict building and continue with the original plan. So much for trying to support struggling artists.
There's Graffiti Alley here in Baltimore Maryland. Every square inch of the alley has graffiti. Really the whole city is covered in graffiti.
THATS actually really epic
Give a man a canvas,
And he'll paint for a day.
Give a man Los Angeles,
And he'll paint for eternity.
Actually looks kinda neat imo, the pattern is pretty uniform and theyre only on the corners of the building
Gotta give whoever did this some credit. That's impressive!!
I'd be surprised if homeless didn't occupy that abandoned building.
I'd be surprised if they didn't move all the migrants coming over the border in there.
US is currently trying to house entire South America.
Looks colourful!
“Just because you’re a badguy, does not mean you’re a Bad Guy”
looks sick
Use to work on a job site opposite that building. Always saw edgars jumping the fence to tag. The one aged security guy and one security canine doesnt do much
A massive skyscraper completely empty with thousands living on the streets below. This is America.
The graffiti isn’t the eyesore. The unfinished sky rise that sits there mocking the homeless people is the eyesore. With the huge need for affordable housing how can the graffiti be the issue?
Looks beautiful to me 🤷🏿♂️ long live graffiti artist still gettin up!
well on windows? private property? yea no...
@@Tw1st3d_Real1ty yeah. If it looks this good. I'm leaving it up. Scram.
It’s not a fancy high rise! It’s a abandon building
Dude said he’s surprised.. he’s the only one.
Graffiti...jeez at least its on the glass..god forbid if its not up to par with the grammy participants standards. But I'm sure the artist is glad you gave him his recognition he deserves airing it for all to see. good promo! 😂
Looks great Tag rest of windows !!! Graffiti tower
This that building in gta 5 they still didnt finish it 😂
I like it. These kids was like its just sitting here, this would be cool to write on for everyone to see
I think it's awesome. Inside edition is clearly for old people
Damn you, Dedsec!
So beautiful 🤩 If you wont finish, we will paint it 💯💯💯
This could have been a news story when only a few floors were done but they let them finish it.
Not shocking at all...
Absolutely stunning...
Bravo...
🇿🇦
it was an eyesore before, now it is art and a tourist attraction
I think it's a great piece of art if they embraced the creativity and went with it it would bring people to see it. Wah wah I love it.
Why risk more lives to clean the graffiti?
I think it's gorgeous!
They ever heard of hiring security?
“Shocking” I say impressive.
If squatters can get rights over an abandoned house....why can't they sneak in there and do the same?
what do yall mean!!!??!?! that's ART!
It a potential bring more customer than builder can ever imagine
"The building sits in the shadow of the Staples Center" LMAO . It' s a forty-story hi-rise, the center is maybe thirty to forty feet. Doesn[t cast much of a shadow compared to a skyscraper.
billion dollar project, cant even afford security.. unbelievable
Been seeing this all over the news and socials, if the city really mad tagging might get hot agian
This graffiti (art) is absolutely beautiful. If anything, this artwork revitalizes the area more than a big expensive gluttonous "luxury" high rise ever could. If this lowers the property value, GOOD. People should not have to pay as much as they do for housing right now. HOUSING IS A RIGHT, NOT A PRIVILEGE.
I saw a G.
I've seen it all.
Dope describes my rhymes, making all you emcees cold drop like dimes. You know MCSC is back again, and battling me on the microphone is like committing a sin.
Prince Scott/Prince MCSC
I think the graffiti is really pretty. But I guess for “luxurious” people that don’t see the art in it, they consider it an eyesore. Not to mention the space has been sitting wasting away for years, with homeless people everywhere below it. 😢
If it was Banksy they would turn the building into a 24 hour surveillanced art installation. Building looks awesome covered in art.
Complete the project, but for temporary homeless housing. Much better use of the money.
AWESOME ARTWORK! 👌💪👏
I know! I think it looks pretty cool!
It looks amazing
No. It looks exactly like communism !!
Coolest thing I've ever seen! Graffiti is Art! Not hating it, not hating it at all!
We have so many more things going on in this country and you report about this.
Beautiful art
“The art tho”🎨😱
Honestly that looks sick asf
❤❤❤❤LOVE IT❤❤❤❤❤so proud of my fellow artists!!!
Looks awesome.
Fancy high rise that’s suppose to revive the neighborhood? Nothing like expensive condos to look at for everyone who’s struggling to make ends meet under this regime.
This is great advertising for these unsold buildings
The building is unfished and has been since 2019
Why wouldn’t homeless live in there instead of all the tents set up all over everywhere
why remove graffiti off a building that isn’t in jse
You gotta give credit to the artists, theyve got some serious balls
Every graffitti artist in socal came in via bus hit it up then dipped
Whether its open or not, people for sure live in there
Let's just stop being coy and rename Los Angeles to Gotham City, and be done with it.
