I've had the tuf 4090 for a long time now, it's the best air cooler I have had in a gpu. Insane delta between edge and hotspot around 7 - 12C. That cooler master shroud does look nice aesthetically though.

Hi scattervolt I built a new pc with the 7800xt but the fans on the gpu constanly run at 3000+RPM no matter what I do Even if temps are very low. I have tried changing the RPM manually which does nothing they continue to spin at 3000+RPM any Idea what the issue can be? Any help appreciated thank you 🙏🏼

Been a console gamer for over a decade and want to make the switch to PC. saw some good reviews for the CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme Gaming PC (Intel Core I5 13400F/1TB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX4060). At around 1500 CAD (1120 USD). Is this a good starter prebuilt? and are the specs good enough to run most games at a good rate? thanks

    • @ScatterVolt
      @ScatterVolt  Před 4 měsíci

I'd personally get a prebuilt that at least as a RTX 4070.
Or better, an AMD graphics card with more vram, like the 7600 XT or 7700 XT.

*Cooler Master VGA COOLER pros and cons by EXAMPLE..*
(how I fixed my issue at the end) My Asus RTX4070 Dual OC has fans that turn on at 55degC then spin at 1000RPM, drive the temps down over a minute or so (when not gaming) then the temp rises over just a couple minutes. So I constantly hear the fans kick in then turn off (with a slight click noise. sigh). The actual noise volume is very LOW but it's still really annoying (and when gaming the fans would be VERY loud at times). And this on/off cycle STILL happens in less-demanding games like SKYRIM... (leaving fans at 1000RPM by disabling 0dB mode is not a solution either as I have my PC silent... there's just an annoying quality to the fan noise that's hard to explain. Not loud, but annoying.).
this Cooler Master product should direct more air over the card so should keep the NOISE down but here's the potential PROBLEM. How fast are the fans spinning when they start? That's dictated by your graphics card, and if you put high quality fans CAPABLE of dropping down to 400RPM to be silent they can NOT do that because the PWM Duty Cycle is going to give EXACTLY the same RPM regardless of the fan. So you'll have the EXACT same issue I had.... what's the IDEAL solution for a replacement like this? Basically that you never hear the fans except under extreme load. But WHY recognize the problem which needs a PROPRIETARY SOLUTION (because all the mounting points have to line up) and not simply offer cards with better cooling to start with? Anyway, how did I solve the problem?
    1) 2x Noctua fans (NF-A12x25 PWM Chromax... chosen in part for their low starting RPM)
(used zip ties, but had to be careful about where I put them to avoid damage and to NOT pull down on the heatsink itself. So zipped to backplate etc)
    2) Y-splitter and ran the fans to the MOTHERBOARD (not the graphics card)
    3) "FAN CONTROL" software which allows me to use my RTX4070 GPU temps to dictate fan speed
    4) My custom fan profile has the fans spin at 350RPM (silent) at minimum (no 0dB because thermal consistency matters MORE for electronics longevity, but I never, ever hear the fans even with Furmark stress test (currently 700RPM at 72degC)
Other: PSU fan stays off most of the time, case fans are 2x Noctua (front), 1x Noctua (top-rear) and 1x Noctua (old Noctua NH-D14 on R9-3900x CPU)
    PROPRIETARY SOLUTIONS?
I actually think these are a fine idea if done right. And I think they SHOULD be proprietary which may surprise you. Because you want the add-on cooler to match the cards capabilities. So if the add-on has fans that CAN drop down to 400RPM then that's what you want to happen. But the card doesn't KNOW what fans are connected to it normally. BUT, again, keepin in mind that better fans mean you can get away with a slightly LOWER QUALITY heatsink what's the total ADDED cost over a crappier fan solution to do it right the first time? $10 or so for the BOM? So once they are aware that people want this AND that proprietary solutions make the most sense it seems like GIMPING the cooling so that they can then offer a solution seems like an inevitable solution rather than simply offering solutions with fans you can BARELY hear in the most demanding situations from the start. It's actually NOT very hard to create a quiet cooler if you pair the appropriate heatsink and fans together (thick heatsinks with tiny fans are stupid as they have to ramp up the RPM just to generate sufficient airflow, and a 0dB mode paired with fans you can hear at their MINIMUM RPM is just engineering malpractice).

my only itx case can ez fit it if not my case then no other case "only itx case with nearly 40cm lenght, 16cm wide 5,5slot thick gpu space" what you want more at a itx only case a cheap price? no problem it costs only 62€ :DDDD
you heared right 40cm length it can support 6x 140mm fans 1x120mm fan or 9x 120mm fans or a 280mm aio for cpu, a 360/280/240mm aiowaterblock for gpu, a 120mm aio for ehm... a ram and m.2ssd? with space for a full atx psu 2x hdd, 2x 2,5"ssd :D
the only one downside at it is the front/side are out of glass, and the original 2x140mm fans and 4x120mm fans are molex fans but cmon for 62€ i wonder why fans are in it,
but best airflow i ever had in a itx/matx/atx case in a itx only case (not with the orginal fans theyre sucks) :D
