In case people are wondering, the hunters guild in the monster hunter games is closer to a park rangers association. They don't canonical hunt monsters unless they prove a threat to nearby settlements or people, or are threatening the ecosystems balance in some way. Captured monsters are released after study. Cutting off the tail and smashing the horns is a game mechanic, not really something that happens in the world of monster hunter.
The problem is, almost every monster in existence in the games is a threat already to people, and they all seem to have a less then unique proclivity to mutating random powers or randomly getting far stronger then other members of its species, so very often there is a need to end monsters to protect humans and wyvernians and the like. Aptonoth and the other critters in this video outside of the pukei pukei are herd animals that are hunted for food, and in game that's their primary reason to off them.
Also, most of the monsters in game are hinted at having vast intelligence, near human in fact. Elder dragons are hinted at being alien intelligences, vastly stronger then humans.

@@sillybitchproductions2825 I mean, if I remember right there used to be a vast civilization that was actually destroyed by one of the Elder Dragons or something like that? I don't remember everything from my past times delving into MH lore, but I think it was either Wyverians or Humans (I always forget which) were actually created to be living weapons against the monsters because some of the Elder Dragons were smart enough to lure monsters to human lands to attack them.
In older games you got the hints that elders can transform into humans.

There is actually a reason behind the breaking of parts and cutting of the tail during a hunt:
Because each hunter works for the guild or a commission of it they get paid in money and some pieces but if you as a hunter are able to obtain a part during the hunt the guild won't take that from you, so you try to get part like Horns or Tails during the hunt since the Guild is less likely to give them out due to their value.

After killing the second titan I felt wrong. At the beginning the spirits said it was against the laws of nature to be here, to hold this sword, to kill those creatures or return the dead soul to her human body. The game told me I was a villain and it felt like I was doing something that was wrong

You know it is amazing how much we anthropomorphize animals let alone completely fictional animals in a video game
Monster hunter world is a story that originally starts out as a biological discovery trip with animals that are hostile and have been hostile throughout the story. Throughout this game you hunt said monsters because they are hostile, not to mention there is not a population count because there are a literal infinite number of them. The kestodon he fights at the beginning of the video is actually an animal that is hostile and roams without a set territory. These large monsters are also standing in their own graves if you don't stop zorah magdaros from dying of natural causes in the middle of the natural helm of this world. You change its course and save the entire world from being brought to nothing but dust. So by taking the lives of a few you save the lives of many. Regardless the armor is fucking cool so 🖕🏻

I play a tonne of video games, but when I walk outside my house, I don’t expect to see a Rathalos flying through the sky and Master Chief defending the planet from the covenant. Everyone knows that these creatures and characters don’t exist, but we still feel sorry for them when they die or get hurt, that’s because video games are so captivating nowadays that we feel involved and responsible.

It isn’t like killing randomly for vanity or because you’re a monster; it’s more like you help balance the ecosystem. Take the Great Jagras who literally swallows whole entire Aptonoths at a time, if left to its own devices, the Aptonoths would be driven to extinction, so you kill the Great Jagras to prevent the Aptonoths from being killed. Other times, you slay a monster to prevent a cataclysmic event happening, like Zorah Magdaros, if he died in the Everstream instead of the Rotten Vale, it’s bioenergy would have destroyed the New World entirely; even then, it wasn’t to kill it per se, more like drive it into the ocean where it would die naturally and release its bioenergy in a safe environment.
It’s not explained in the games to great lengths, but there is a manga of Monster Hunter (Made by the same guy who made Fairy Tail if you’re interested) where the guild actively punishes hunters who hunt monsters outside of quests, who do it strictly for profit. The reason the player doesn’t get punished is because the quests you go on are guild sanctioned quests, so you can’t be punished for doing your job.
tl;dr Monster Hunters hunt monsters in an effort to balance the ecosystem and protect the world from the threat of powerful monsters. *Monster* Hunters are psychos who hunt monsters in their natural habitat for no reason other than vanity and wealth.

Actually, in Monster Hunter World, you are in the New World, a wild continent just discovered. There are no tows nor villages anywhere. Just the hunter's settlement. So... yeah, the monsters are not really threatening anything this time. I the previous games though, we were killing them to protecct villages and towns. But the hunters here are kinda researching the wildlife of this new continent. So, you can say we are killing them for SCIENCE! :P
Also, for everyone that's concerned, you canonically only kill one of each monster, or you can capture them unless the mission says otherwise or the monster itself is immune to traps(Elder draggos).

No actually it's not. If you played the game you'd know that the large monsters all of the island migrated there and are invasive species that are wreaking havoc on the native wildlife. You're there to study and hunt these invasive species.

also the hunter's guild cares about nature and is against Poaching and will send out guild knights to hunt down illegal hunters
flex prime you should try and research the subject matter (in this case Monster Hunter) and look at it from multiple prospectives to see if it is truly what you claim instead of looking at it from face value (this is also my major complaint of the video but I digress).

I am a animal lover. If a spider or bug is in my house I put in in a cup and put it outside. Nature is beautiful and amazing. Never hurt ANYTHING! That being said.... I have hunted every monster in the series to extinction...or damn close too it. What a amazing game series. I don't think any game will ever beat the feeling of using the skills you have honed to beat a Elder Dragon in 10 min or less. The satisfaction of getting good in this series has no equal in video games. Gogmazios, Molten tigrex roar, Dalamadur, Brute tigrex roar........need I say more. Oh yeah read the quest description. That's the reason for the hunts lol.

The guild states that the monsters you hunt are ones that are nearby a village or is already terrorizing one so any monsters you hunt are not just ones that you find in the wild that did nothing to hurt people,but ones that are disturbing villages nearby

To be fair, it's a series that doesn't take itself seriously as a lot of the quest descriptions in the series are very silly- like a theatre troupe that tried to use a Rajang to put on a production of Journey to the West that went comically awry, or a jealous girlfriend sending you out to kill a Pink Rathian because her boyfriend is obsessed with them.

The final boss is trying to cause a weird apocalypse but mostly this hunting is very brutal but there’s usually so backstory in the missions that justifies it.
The ecosystem is actually fine, the hunters tend to mostly keep the monster population down so that the plants and whatnot don't die off. For example, if left unchecked the pukei pukei population would grow quickly and kill off smaller monsters like the jagras and aptonoth, so then Anjanath would get desperate and start invading places they don't belong and can't live, causing a rathalos migration to keep up with their primary food source.
Rathalos' primary food source are not Anjas, they're for the most part things like Aptonth.Variants and Deviants are a bit different in that they tend to feast on low-tier big monsters, usually weaker ones though (Things like Great Jaggi, the dromes, etc.).
You're incorrect on Pukei-Pukei as well, it's not a carnivore, it eats pretty much only nuts.
Also, Anjas aren't resistant to poison, so it would make no sense for them to eat Pukei-Pukei.

I think the real threats are the elder dragons, their powers are beyond logic and pretty much dangerous if left unkilled, because some of them can even change the climate like daora, and destroy city like fatalis and lao shan lung

The reason why you get rewards when you break parts and cut tails is because the guild always takes all the parts of a monster that are in tact. So in order to get anything you need to break it so that the guild doesn't actually want it. It's pretty interesting.
It's like extreme Deer Hunter where your prey stands a chance and might also be hunting you.

However, I do want to simply point out that in reality, the Guild prevents poaching and has punishments for hunters who don't follow that rule. Mostly death by a Guild Knight. Its goal is also to prevent monsters from going extinct by keeping tab of the amount of monsters of an area and how many are killed, born, etc.
It's more in the lore than in the games themselves, but it's still there.
Seeing the monsters limp away from battle does break my heart a little. I wish they made them more hostile or something. The Monsters are surprisingly docile.

It's amazing how many people actually think this is what you're doing in the game now...funny jokes and all that but ignorant people are going to start judging this game as if it's animal cruelty, when it's clearly stated in multiple games you're hunting the dangerous ones to the villages and environment.
Willow4526 Umm... Except specifically in Monster Hunter World you are going to a new continent where there are no humans. You are the de facto aggressor in this case, and even though smaller missions are about protecting camps, you wouldn't have to do that if humans hadn't tried to interject themselves into an untouched ecosystem.

flickyisland Not really. Take Zorah Magdaros for once. He was going to blow up the whole land if he had his way, killing the ecosystem, along with all the monsters and humans. If humans didnt divert his path he would have done so. So yeah, even though a majority of the quests were beneficial only to humans, they did save the New World for everyone in some instances. Plus, there were Wyverians inhabiting the place, so there was a humanoid presence there

But we are going there to learn about the elder dragons( fundaments of nature so destructive they destroy ecosystems ). Which while learning about them we even prevent the destruction of the local ecosystem by steering zoro mag off who was maid to go the wrong way by nergigantaye. Additionally in this game series especially over irl we are a more proper part of nature in this world existing in balance with nature, we kill what we need to survive and nothing more.

But the Monsters are they attack them first or the citizen no-stop destroy their habita ? Like we do with the wolfs and bears.
Yea, but most people don't actually read the quest text xP So most players don't actually know that the large monsters have no natural predators and that Elder Dragons literally have the power to destroy the world if left unchecked, so... They just think it's about killing "innocent creatures" :P

one of the quest info’s i have found talks of how a horde of monsters seperated and kidnapped members of their family, and needs you to kill them to save his family. Whilst of course this isnt the case with each quest, there are obvious cases where there is a reasonable explanation as to why someone would need a “monster hunter”
