The Leaderboard Sword and Shield. Basic but I know what I am doing with them which I prefer to taking ages to learn others.
I honestly hop around started Dual Blades, then learned the Glaive and Longsword, now I'm learning Charge Blade.

In some cases it really is, honestly the ground combos deal more damage, but it's hard to break the floor is lava mentality.
floor is lava till the monster is stunned, that's when you break out the pole assisted ballet
Also flying monsters are super fun to fight with the glaive, laughing at the peasantry below while you flip de loop all around its wings.

Charge blade is for when you want to be able to do litteraly everything but in the hardest way possible.
Amen to that. I main GS and CB, and while I can get close to my Greatsword damage numbers with it, it's so much more difficult to use.
That's not to say Greatsword is simple, though. It's just that if I don't know a monster, Charge blade is the safer weapon.
My Charge Blade does around 800-900 Damage i guess
I kinda like that about it though. The time it take to set up the big attacks makes it feel so much more impactful. But that's just me.

So I didn't know anything about Monster Hunter when bought World, so I just grabbed the weapon I thought was the coolest and sold all the others. The charge blade reminded me of Bloodborne and looked easy to use.

I'm a Sword and Shield guy who is also an Assassin.
Basically every other weapon main: You can't use the Dual Blades, they only do like 15 damage per hit!

Funny thing I started with the Insect Glaive because, I like jumping on the monster's back. Recently beat the game and slew Xeno and I realized what drew it too me though. I wanted to see if I could get above the Biggest monster in the game and do the tornado drop on his freaking head while he was rearing up. I can proudly say I have.

I hate playing with dual blade users because they almost always get in the way.
as a DB main, i dont normally go to demon mode for chances like the pros do, but i just wait patienly and do stuff while i can in normal mode until i find a chance to transform to demon mode, cuz it sometimes takes time to transform and im just a bit impatient, just a bit.And i dont slash randomly......well sometimes, most of the time?? idk.(this is just my style of DB)

Jerrod Sletton I 100% agree I’m a hammer main. I like to give the monster Monstrous concussions. I call it the MMC it works very well and kills 100.0% of all monsters. ( it does suck when you have to break through armor some times like kulve) but hey I’m not here to complain Im just here to say.

Am I the only one who constantly thinks that Severing a monsters tail is my top and only priority like the entire world depends on it and the team expects you to do it and are all depending on you while shedding a single tear saying "you're the best teammate a hunter could ever have"? Bow combos are easy to learn, and well worth it. Your bread and butter should be RT-RT-RT-B-B-B(R2-R2-R2-O-O-O), spamming B(O) until you run out of stamina or just before the target moves, finishing with Y+B(🜂+O). Wait for your Stamina to recharge, and repeat.

My first mh game was generations. When I first started, I decided to pick a weapon and stick with it. It was between the charge blade and the switch ax. I understood the mechanics of the charge blade better so I went with that. I may revisit the SA in the future though.

Gunlancer here, basically yea we are mostly former lance users who wanted a bigger bang for our buck...so we slapped an explosive shotgun on the end of our lances!!

As a lance user who's only sticking with lance because the charge is ridiculous now, I always consider gunlance users as brothers in arms :D

Im an Insect Glaive user. This actually didn’t really describe my reasons for choosing that weapon. Its simple actually. The glaive, while it can’t quite compete with the flurry of the dual blades with attack speed, or the incredible brutality and strength of the great sword, it in itself is a very versatile weapon. It’s perfect for players who enjoy a balance of speed, range, mobility, and the flurry style of attack; a huge bonus with a healing build for those who struggle to find a chance to safely drink a potion, or those who just get a thrill of leaping right over the charging monster before slamming down upon them.

And now that you can staple a wyvern shot directly into the monster’s neck... mm mm mmm!
Love Insect Glaive, a lot of people are saying because of "style" and "masters of air" but I simply enjoy IG for the sheer utility of being able to easily do mounts but the real prize are the nectar buffs. You deal higher damage with red, you have higher mobility than other light weapons when white nectar buff is up plus the extra nock back resistance with orange is very useful.
The other bonus is that if you're good at targeting you can actually use your kinsect to do knockout damage. The IG is such a powerful well rounded weapon if people will properly use all it's features.
Sure, but you know that we IG users just do it to fly around the map and jump like we had firecrackers in our panties.
I mained IG back in 4U, and for my first go-around in world (took a break from it in gen for SnS and CB), and it's definitely a fun weapon with even more potential in world, though I do want to say that, oddly enough, I've had more success mounting monsters using the lance (one of my three "main" weapons on pc) than I did with insect glaive (and while I tried to split my time with IG in the air and on the ground to get more dps while still maintaining mobility and safety/not knocking teammates around, I still was doing way more aerial attacks. Seems RNG just favors me when I'm the pokey-stick)
I main IG for the moments where I send the kinsect for extract and it steals my kill.
Who needs to dodge roll when you can literally pole vault over the monster, insect glaive user for life.

Glaive user here too, one thing tht i cant look past tho is the fact tht ur little insect is constantly strapped to ur wrist and I really wish it could be toggled on and off, the amount of times ive found a sexy armour combo and then see a huge green blob on my arm

lol, it was hilarious to realize that when Lunastra was released, her nova that sweeps the ground, it kills a bunch of other classes in almost one go, but you can jump it pretty easy with the Glaive, and then just kinda jump out of it's radius after a bit of damage.
It was awesome.

I started as a hammer bro because there's nothing better than knocking all the teeth out of a monster's head, but the lack of tail-slice-ability left me wanting. So I picked up the Sword and Shield and now I get to do EVERYTHING: cut off tails, smash off horns, mount better than an IG main and toss powders to buff my team. I am now a SnS main.
Lance main here, we are an indestructible wall and I love it.

Correction: The indestructible wall that is constantly oozing consistent, precise damage.
When you've used and mastered all the weapons, you will always come back to SnS. With the timing knowledge you gain from using big clunky weapons and the agility and versatility you gain from light weapons, when you come back to SnS you literally turn into a monster's worst nightmare that won't let them catch a breath.

At heart, I'm a bow player, picked it up early on, been playing it since my induction to the series in 3U, and it's my old reliable. I love my bow.
BUT.
It's hammer time, baby. Mobility coming from the dash of a lv 1 charge and rolls, the ability to floor a monster by playing aggressively, able to pull off high bursts of damage, the description of a gambler fits me perfectly. I main HH, and have gunlance in the backburner, can say they really upped their game with HH. I like that I can store 3 songs on my HH and playing the music actually does damage. Can't say I am a huge fan of the slowness of the attack animations but I can say they didn't disappoint me with the new way of playing songs for buffs/possible damage, such as the sonic waves song that certain HH have.
The only problem I can ever say with HH is that the sharpness goes down waaaay too quickly. In fact I found it hard to actually kill monsters with the low rank stuff just because my attacks kept bouncing after the sharpness was gone after 6 hits. And I've mained HH since Freedom. So no, it's definitely not me.
Am I one of the few Hunting horn mains here....? Honestly, the musical hammer.

I discovered the switch axe only very recently, and I have to say that I absolutely love the sheer sense of power that comes with it. Every blow carries weight, and pulling off a full elemental discharge? That's the stuff of heaven.

Insect glaive... Because monsters are like dogs and can't look up... Also pack a full set of infinite stamina drinks and you can just helicopter across a monsters back (breaking off all the parts) for minutes at a time.

As an Insect Glaive convert from the long sword, all the jumping around isn't as OP as people might think it is... I am always surprised what attack hits me that was designed to hit a target on the ground. I always get mad and think the monster attacks didn't come anywhere near me but I still get hit!
@@ghostuscoyote yeah the hit boxes are bullshit in a bunch of attacks, if the monsters had specifically anti IG moves like Anjanath then would've been understandable.

I am a simple man, I see monster, I poke with stick.
As a bow main, I like the moderate damage of the bow but what made me love it is the safety distance between me and the monster, it's more comfortable and less stressful even if sometimes the battles get real hot, the bow seduced me and I hunted every monster from tobi-kadachi to xenojiva all solo with an extreme safety feeling.

Seriously, I used to main the greatsword and dual blades but the bow just does the job well. And I'm not using up all my resources trying to finish the hunt. Plus I'm solo with everything so the bow is nice to just hunt with. Then if I want to play around and grind stuff, I go back to the greatsword

Not a Hunting Horn main, but I like to dabble in it from time to time. I just remember in MHGen how I'd basically negate Dread Queen Rathian and Malfiesto with the Fungasax. Just the exhaust damage that HH does as well is insanely useful too.

Insect glaive here, the more mounting and toppling the monster I do, the more openings I make for my heavy hitting team mates. Also, i get hit less by my team, a win-win.
Dual blading monsters in the face, dancing around their feet, avoiding attacks last second and dodging around them so they turn like a dog trying to catch its tail is awesome! Plus sliding!

Just started playing monster hunter world and I picked up an Insect Glaive, good to know I'm in good company lol
I started with the longsword. I mained it for awhile then I picked up the Charge Blade and liked it a lot more. But then I picked up the Hammer. And that's where I found the best weapon suited for my needs. Hammer is the best weapon in the game in my opinion.
Insect glaive has always been and will always be my favourite. It's so fun flying through the air and sending my little bug buddy out to help! 💕

When playing a hunting horn, one does not ask should I heal my teammates? The proper question is, if I heal myself because I tanked the monster for the last five hits, will the range of my heals also heal my teammates?
Oh, and can I get this three song combo in before the monster recovers from being staggered.

I find it funny the number of times ive made the finishing blow on a monster with my kinsect... they dont deal alot of damage in comparison to the ground combos... but man is it satisfying killing a giant monster with a giant bug...

Started in mh4u.. main weapons Charge blade (for the bigger, slower and mroe defensive monsters) and Instect glaive (Speed drone usually for the smaller and quicker monsters)
But seriously, having slash AND impact on one weapon is superb, since it lets you take whatever position that's missing on the team and you can play tank. (Yes, online it's enarly always CB unless i just wanna play floor is lava)
I'm a long sword user but I also have some parts of the light bow gun user because of the very detailed preparation I make before every tougher hunt.
Also remember, sword and shield is the best weapon in the game. All who use it are geniuses and should be regarded as gods. Using it proves you are a capable warrior who has toppled giants, and all the greatest heroes cower at your feet. Most people gazing upon a sword and shield user have their eyes melt out of their heads from pure amazement. All monsters who face a sword and shield hunter are actually cowering, and only fight for the futile chance of surviving because running away would be useless. If you find a sword and shield hunter, ignoring your lack of eyes, you must follow them to greatness.

I like the sword and shield. I used it as a fallback weapon for my 3rd character. In hindsight that may not sound like I like it but trust me I do
You described me perfectly as a Charge Blade main. I’m new to the series and I chose the weapon for its power and transforming versatility.
I often switch between the dual blade, charge blade and heavy bowgun. Each are useful in different situations. When going up against most (not all) flying types I stick to the bowgun. Large, slow moving ground types I use the charge blade on. And the fast types (big or small) I use the dual blade to allow me to doge and strike at the same time.
Greatsword, Chargeblade, Switch axe, and longsword.
I like doing big damage.
