The a-ha channel is the official CZcams home of the Norwegian Pop trio a-ha, who achieved global stardom in 1985 when their debut single, “Take On Me” from the album ‘Hunting High And Low’ topped the charts in 36 different countries on its way to becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time, and the 5th most streamed song of the 20th century. a-ha struck chart gold again with “The Sun Always Shines On T.V.” and “Cry Wolf,” and recorded the theme to the 1987 James Bond film “The Living Daylights”. I totally agree. I think people only remember (or only chose to remember) 'Take on me' ! but they have had plenty of other hits since. People should take the time and sit down and really listen to some of their other songs, old and new. Then they would realise how talented this group really is.

There's something special with this song, it makes you feel strong when you need it most. Its like helping the weakest to stand up and make them feel strong, even if theres something limiting them from a normal life. I also have a feeling that the lyrics tries to tell us that we can stand together no matter which nationality you are, and that we all are human.

@@geraldbarton3552 Probably because it was released in a dark period in the band's history. It was the final release before their first breakup. And probably because it never was a big hit at all.
Brilliant song by a brilliant band and will never be bettered by any group today. I love the song and a-ha are one of the great bands of last 25 years.

Così come per the Living Daylights ci fu una diatriba tra lo scrittore Pal e il produttore del video della pellicola di James Bond 007 , solo che quella a differenza di questa almeno è stata inserita anche se in maniera totalmente differente all'interno dell album Stay on these roads . Comunque peccato perché ci sarebbe stata benissimo nell album Memorial Beach

I loved them back in the 80s and then grew up and thought I was too 'cool' to like them 😂 I re-discovered them a couple of years ago and saw them in concert for the first time last year 🙂
Luckily, I rediscovered them too, and what a journey it has been! Indescribable, wonderful, and at the same time heartbreaking that it took so long for me to get back to them. Fortunately in time to experience them live in concert. I am captivated by their music, and can never get enough.
This was just a decent a-ha song back then. Compared to today's music, including a-ha's modern music, this is almost great.

the way his voice is so smooth whenever he says “on a” it has the quality of pressing a key on a keyboard in synth mode. i don’t know how he does it but it’s phenomenal and just goes to show how talented he is

I was lucky to see my fellow countrymen in Cape Town just before lockdown 2020 kicked in. Their music is clean, memorable and the tunes are sweet. They all do solo stuff on the side and thats what keeps them going on and on...personal expression and the band. They deserve all the success they get. Lots of happy memories for me and more to come...I like that :-)

Idem, desde minha infância sou fã de carteirinha, minha primeira música foi "living a boy's adventure tale" viajando pro interiorzão de SP e depois na capital num evento no Anhembi ouvi a mais bela e tradicional e conhecida mundialmente "take on me", bonnnnnsssss e maravilhosos tempos. :)

this is a RARE side of a-ha they never really explored, went in, why o why I don't know! cause it kicks ass! it's as 'rock-like' as I've heard a-ha get, that I recall, maybe there's a few other a-ha ones that are 'rock-like', but a-ha always 'kept in bounds' with who they are, and that doesn't necessarily mean a 'pop' sound, not at all, they never went to extremes - pop - rock - whatever one way or the other, they, like U2, developed their own unique sound, which is awesome, but oh how I wish they did more songs like 'shapes', if they went rockish more, they would've tore it up! just like they did on this song, love how the video begins with a drummer most don't know, beatin it out, and we even see the bass? guy, there's something cool to be said about bands that are 'limited' and use many different people to 'take up the slack' I don't know if jim morrison ever or could ever or did play guitar or ANY musical instrument his whole life and in the doors, however, david lee roth is a guitar player, how well, I don't know, and rarely played in concert with van halen, morten harket, I've never seen him play guitar, think I've seen him play electric ukelele live with a-ha, he probably can play the guitar, would've been nice to see him, jim, david play the guitar, /play MORE of the guitar and other instruments, the harmonica being my favorite :) but as for musical instruments out there, there's so so many :)

Wonder Man Morten played guitar, drums and tambourine on a-ha's tour in 2010. I beleave he also plays piano.
squorly oh I've paid attention, it's great to hear these things about morten, but they are rare! rarely ever seen on video! and I've paid attention enough to see that the book- a-ha-the swing of things, is a complete disaster! once again, all the attention is on the frontman, like in most if not all bands, -pitiful -I know a-ha up and down, they're only like my second favorite group or so next to U2, the doors, and others,........which Paul said he was influenced by the doors, and no one can prove/show that jim morrison is dead! I could ask you questions about a-ha that you wouldn't know the first thing about........by the way, do you know if jim morrison EVER had any musical ability? could he/did he play the guitar? or any other musical instrument for that matter? David lee roth sure can..........NEVER been a front man like DLR

It's more common for morten to play the guitar when he performs solo things. But as I said, he did pick up both the guitar and tambourine at the 2010 tour and even had a go at the drums.
