I honestly believe that these videos will change lives. If I had watched these when I was in high school, I would have pursued a career in finance. I can only assume that the kids of today will have the same reaction.

I worked at MS in Australia from 2003 to 2011 as an equity analyst heading up the metals and mining research. Very long hours and lots of travel. I remember visiting the New York office on Times Square in late 2008 and what was a busy trading floor in 2007 was deserted and the desks were clear except for a forest of Bloomberg screen posts. When a down turn hits investment banks can be ruthless, and when things go well its amazing.

Mechanica Engg as IT Project Manager 😂😂😂 typical story of an Indian.. IT, Data Science are the kachra of 2020s now. Next decade it will be somthing else.
Phil Purcell had no idea about investment banking or trading & would hide in his office & not speak much which kept him out of trouble. John Mack was a gambler who stated on internal video conference “We are a bank in order to grow we need to take on more risk!” We knew then that the bank would be in for some big losses as we saw the dramatic change in risk capital even read prospectuses for the firms money market funds to be investing in private equity, venture capital alt investments! Just insane. Gorman came from McKinsey & had no clue about how to grow an advisory firm organically. He knew you just had to make acquisitions & keep firing the bottom 1/3 of advisors and reduce their compensation in order to justify his large comp package !

I was looking forward to this video because i worked for Morgan Stanley before. Still proud that I did. I was there when Phil and John were at the helm. I remember there was a story that people were cheering on the trading floor when John Mack returned.

We live in a real monopoly game! Had I realized the game we are in, I would have been a banker and cashed out by 40 , bought a off grid farm and stashed paper money for real money and got out of game, and not have been a legit hard working moral businessman. I do have an mba but didn’t learn that game!,,,

This guy needs his own series on netflix or something. Been learning about stock market and this stuff is very interesting to watch and learn about history of wall street and finances. Really helps to further understand world and how it operates. I feel like we should have to watch this in school as a class on finances man if I saw this stuff when I was younger I def. would have invested cause i'm doing it now. I just would have had investments for longer and made profit lol

I am amazed at how much of this I was "there" for. Not in Morgan Stanley per se, but as a lawyer with a career in corporate finance (which, in retrospect, seems inevitable). I got my start working on RTC resolutions and from there went into mortgage securitizations.
They count on everyone not to have a macro picture of all moving pieces
