    Hello. Excellent demo, as always. The difference in EQ/sound between the two units is VERY obvious, with the CORE having the strong peaks in the highs, and the GX having a warmer character with the lows and low mids. This leads me to believe, however, that maybe the CORE would cut through the mix better in a band mix or live setting when played with other instruments, while the GX might sound much more pleasant at home. Maybe one day we'll see a demo with a band mix comparison. Thanks again!

    Great comparison. The GX seems warmer. I will say there is a top end clarity on the GT. I believe the difference is the different AD-DA converters. The GT is 96k where the GX is 48k converters. I had a similar experience when I put my RV-500 on my board. It has the same 96k converters. There was an instant high end frequency clarity that I never heard come out of my gear. They both sound great. When it comes to the digital realm the bit depth and frequency rate make a huge difference. 👍👍

    The difference between the two is likely how they are EQ’d. I’m more and more convinced it’s all down to EQ.
    Differences between IRs? Fix with EQ
    Differences between amps? EQ, and it’s placement relative to gain stages.
    Generally it’s all about EQ.

    In the amp output settings, I see selections specific for tube input and return but not for solid state unlike the GT1 which is somewhat general and not specific to tube or solid state amps. That being said, 4 cable method is the only alternative? Thanks much Jared!

    Well, it's a way of looking at it.
    The gx has a rich bass, while the gt can be interpreted as thin.
    The gt is articulate, while the gx is warm.
    I guess it's a matter of taste.

  • @johngudgeon7454

    All things being equal, I much preferred the audio out of the GT Core. The GX-100 seemed woollier in the low end and lacked bite up high.
    The pedalboard real estate skirmish sees the Core victorious also.
    I'm usually found in close proximity to my full stereo rig or a wet/dry/wet setup if I'm feeling particularly masochistic.
    The dual send-returns on the Core would see much use. Another win.
    I'd like a touch screen, but not at the cost of audio clarity.

  • @nigelsmith721
    @nigelsmith721 Před rokem

    GX-100 sounds better to my ears. The cabs sound woody and real (can be made to sound less so if that's your thing). GT sounds brittle and definitely needs more EQ.
    For context (not that it matters) I've been playing 45 years so I know what tone I'm aiming for and last weekend I bought a GX.
    My gig rig back in the day was a Les Paul into a JCM800 full stack with a few pedals on the floor. Those days are long gone but I've spent the last 15 years chasing that sound in a more 21st century (and less antisocial) way and it looks like I've found the solution.
    Great video - thanks.

    Both are good equipment.
    As far as sound goes, the gt is more high fidelity and resolution.
    This will be a boon especially for spatial sounds.
    However, it may not work so well in some aspects of driving sounds.
    The gx-100 is right for me.
    I am satisfied in many ways: sound quality, price, versatility, ease of use, clarity, visibility, and design.
    I think it is a masterpiece.

    Do you think the guitar pickups could also help determine the choice.... because in my experience.....i have and SG and a tele....and SG is more generally dark and muddy, while the tele is bright.....so when you think of the harshness of the high ends on the CORE....may be the SG would help balance that while the tele would make those loud highs even more harsh?!?!!? Would like your opinion on the same as im primarily a rhythm guitarist and do a Lott of riffs and chugs and not much leads and solos

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  Před 2 lety +1

      Defiantly. But when comparing tones it came across as harsher in general. Just by the way I went back to revisit my core and after eqing out the harshness I still love the core. GX is something very special though. But the purpose was to compare same tone which worked on my tele on both devices. One is definitely brighter then the other. Hope that makes sense I think both are equally programmable to a person's needs I wouldn't be upset if I only had the one and not the other 🤘

    • @raphaeldreger
      @raphaeldreger Před 2 lety

      @@JaredGunstonTV The problem in PodGo is that you'll only have 4 blocks to put any effects you want, the other blocks are fixed in "1 volume, 1 wha, 1 EQ, 1 FX LOOP (Send/return), 1 Amp, 1 cab (or IR loader). So you'll have 10 blocks, but only 4 really editable. I'm seeing a lot of videos of both of them, and I think GX-100 is more flexible in finding an unique sound for you, and GX-100 have more than 10 blocks (i think that is 14, but really dont remember).

But... it will always be a 2d Image to me in sound, and the GT opened me to the world of IRs and making sounds feel responsive... now with the GX if found the processor that i personally enjoy the most (thus far!) - alot won't agree with me and will stand tall on the GT AIRD, and that's fine. I liked the GT-1000 tone a bit more, the GX-100 sounds a little boxy/darker (with around 200Hz peak and 6kHz High Cut),
    where the GT-1000 is a little more high mid defined/crisp, but they are both a small notch tweaking away from the same, difference maybe a difference in the AIRD DSP coding being 'newer'.

    Hi, my name is Ron.
    Thanks fot this video!!
    I think that the various video’s and comments on the GX-100, in particular the tone tests GX-100 vs GT-1000 show that this is a high level product. But personally I wonder which tone-/ sound differences I might expect between the GX-100 and the GT-1 (because I have one) or the GT-100 (both having many basics in common).
    This is my situation: I’m using a Boss GT-1, connected to the clean channel of a Roland Blues Cube Stage amp and I play on an Ibanez 2395 (45 years old semi-hollow with super 70’s humbuckers) and a Fender American Pro Strat HSS. I play various styles and use original as well as altered (in Boss Tone Studio) patches. Problem is that a number of those patches with a certain degree of distortion sound rather harsh, impure, unnatural in my ears.
    If the GX-100 is much better, then I would certainly buy one.

    @jam_nineworkz Před 2 lety +4

    Totally different. I think something's not right here.
    * Can you check the output settings, maybe they are not set the same.
    * Can you use the stock 4X12 stock cab and not an IR.
    * You USED the PHONES output on the GX-100. That I think has some high end rolled of as it is intended for headphones playing. Most multieffects like the old ME-series has that function. The GT-1000core doesn't because it has just one L (mono /phones) output). That may explain the high end being not as harsh. Just my theory.

    I bought both to compare. The GT1000 wins by a mile. If you can differentiate tones and sounds you’ll for sure be able to tell… for a beginner the gx is fine but for anyone who’s been playing for a long time, save the extra cash and get the big boy

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  Před 2 lety +3

      @@marconazz it's a simplified pedal to the likes of the GT, gt has more routing options and 2 fx sends and a variety or more options. The main limit on the gx is the 15 blocks or when you've filled a patch with enough reverbs it's gonna just stop you from adding blocks but it doesn't hinder the playability , latency or feel. For my needs it's an upgrade on sound and display, for others it may be a downscale for routing options.

      i can easily switch between the 2 and tailor the tones, i just found it interesting how the models each treated 3rd party IRs so differently. I LOVE the sound of the GX still to this day, but i'll use the core if I need to have a smaller profile board.

    GT1000 is more detailed and sounds like a recorded JCM800 recorded at the end of the chain of a Bob Rock recording… the GX100 sounds like a simulation of that on a N64 device.
